I'm digging in to my freezer jam so winter must be close.

Every summer I make freezer jam when berries and fruit are in abundance. This year I made peach as well as my usual strawberry. The other day I decided it was time to hall some out so I took 1 of each out of the freezer and put in the refrigerator. This morning I had peach on one piece of toast and strawberry on the other. Wow, tasted so summery and fresh. I will get to enjoy them all winter long. Does anyone else make jams for the winter?

my mom makes the most amazing strawberry freezer jam. it is very sweet, but tastes almost like freshly picked strawberries. we are fortunate that she shares some with us as there is nothing like toast with a bit of pb and mom's strawberry jam!

You are so right, it does taste like fresh strawberries and that is so welcome in the middle of winter. When I make it I always have to make a lot so I can send plenty home with each of the boys.

Oh wow that sounds so good I wish I knew how to do that, my grandmother used to make jam all the time along with pickles. I wish I had her teach me how to make them

Hi friend, it is soooooo easy. Just buy a box of Sure-Jel and the recipe is on the box. It is so simple that once you try it your will be making jelly out of everything. Pine cones don't work well though LOL

yumm, I love homemade jam. I've made raspberry freezer jam in the past but I didn't get many berries this year so I have to buy my jam from the store. I love peach and strawberry jams...sounds delicious.

When I was a kid we used to make a lot of with my mum. Specialy from the apricots, rasberry, plams and strawberries. But right now I don't have a garden and it would be pretty expensive to make them from the fruits you have to buy at store. My mum don't make them anymore either since she had so much in her kitchen and also she is to tired to make it now. Did you make yours from fruit from your garden?

Actually no, I have to buy the fruit. I do have quite a few wild black raspberry bushes but the birds got to them before I could this year. However, I am ready for the little rascals next year. I have already bought netting to put over the briers next spring when they start blooming so the birds can't get to the berries (: I think you should try making some and sharing with your Mum. (: Thanks for the nice response friend.

Oh Funnysis, it is so good and so easy. I actually did buy the fruit and yes it is kind of expensive but it is so worth it. You can't get anything near a good in the store. If you get a chance to try making it, it will be well worth the time and effort. Thanks for responding.

I didn't make anything this summer. We didn't have a garden. We didn't go berry picking or anything. I miss being able to just go to the freezer and grab what veggies I need. I love freezer jam on warm homemade bread. My goal some day is to live on a farm and to raise and grow all our own food. I want to try and go green as possible.

Well said. I also do a few things to go green also. The jam on homemade bread it to die for. Some day the good Lord will plant you right where you want to be and then have a ball with your garden. Thanks for the nice response.

I think it was freezer jam that my brother made and gave me. Does freezer jam have more of a syrupy (if that is a word) consistency to it? If it wasn't freezer jam, it still was good! Especially on pancakes! Have missed ya! Hope all is well with you...

Hi terri, Freezer jam is really pretty firm. But after it thaws it is much like any other kind of jelly. I spreads easier. How great to have a brother that would make you jam. Missed all of you to. Things are just so hectic with Tracy leaving the day after New Years. Maybe once he is on his way and I get over crying all the time I will have a little more time to get back in here and do some serious typing. LOL. Hugs dear friend and I hope you have a great new year.

My 7 year old son actually made his own strawberry freezer jam a few months ago. It turned out great. He made 5 containers of it. He needs to dig out another cause the one in the fridge is almost gone.

Oh, how precious. I keep telling the others that it is so easy and your adorable son just proved it. I admire a mother that teaches a son things in the kitchen. Keep up the good work, give him a great big hug and thanks for the response.
