What jobs would you not take if you were only offered minimum wage? Other than fast food places, what other jobs pay minimum wage? Would you take a data entry job knowing you would only make minimum wage? Do you feel that you could survive on working a full time minimum wage job? I can not see how anyone could survive on a minimum wage job, other than those just starting in the working world and needing work experience and to get started. I would only take a minimum wage job if it was a second job and part time to my full time job.

minimum wages...
i think job other than fast food places - security personnel (watchmen) doesnt get paid much either... not in my country...
as for me working for minimum wages... i guess, since i do have a choice (plus, the qualifications) i would always opt to go a higher paying jobs.
but i guess when you are desperate for money... and you dont have much of a choice - working for minimal wages is still wayyyyy better than resorting to stealing and other crimes...
peace!

When facing zero income and minimal income, I would choose minimal income. Taking a minimum wage job may be necessary until you are able to find a job that is more suitable for your financial needs. I too do not know how people can survive on the earnings of a minimum wage job. The cost of living is so high. Once you pay your rent you will be broke.

I have same opinion with you. I will take minimum wage job when I was fresh graduate... and now of course I don't want to find minimum wage. As entrepreneur right now I also reject some orders if the profit presentage is too low... It's just wasting my time and adding my costs.

In a perfect world without mortgage and other bills to pay, I would not mind taking a minimum wage job, even maybe doing 3 or 4 of them at a time if I have to...lol. Right now I am happy I have a fulltime job that pays quite well...but I do not mind doing part time work even at retail stores, or doing any entry level job. Minimum pay is still money...money that I can use :)

That is right. I would take it only if it is a part time job. Infact the minimum wages are fixed only considering the basic requirements of the people. It will not be enough to provide your family a high quality life style.
I think that the people who are highly qualified and can work harder would not accept the job which offers only minimum wages. However, if the person is not able to earn even minimum wages because of some reasons, then he / she may accept this type of job.
Another thing, is the data entry job available on internet? I have been on look for it on part time basis.

minimum wage jobs, i dont think so it will be enough for daily basic life coz in my country, the price of basic needed stuff getting higher day and day. we also should consider the cost where we should stay. i just feeling sad, coz when government or local government rising the minimum wage jobs, it will be followed with the increasing price of goods. and there is no secure life cost which provided by government to poor people. what good social condition in my country :(

I would take almost any job that was minimum wage if I needed the money and had no other choice. Right now I have a job that pays about twice the minimum wage and it would be foolish for me to leave that nice job and take half the pay by accepting a minimum wage job.
But I have been there and done that. I have done school cleaning, outside high way cleaning, restaurant work, nursing home work, dry cleaning.
When it comes to paying my bills; no job is too below me.
I even took a paper route..when times were rough.
It all depends on the situation when it comes to taking a minimum wage job.

There are a lot of places around here that pay minimum wage and it does make it hard to live on just 7.15 an hour. I would take on if i could get it right now cause I am unemployed but if I had a job i would take one as a part time thing for some extra money around the holidays or something.

If we were in need of money to pay the necessary bills, I would take any job that I was offered. I do not want to be homeless.

If a job will offer minimum wage, oh no , i will not accept the offer. I had accumulated years of experience when it comes to professional jobs, i will demand to increasse it than to accept it. It is very hard to live the life this years, so i think you should allow yourself to get what you deserve, there are some companies that keeping minimun wage and don't be fooled by them. Choose a company that gives salary that is based on your performance and experience to make it fair.

I would have to really struggle to make it on a full time min.wage job but I'm good with budgeting so I think I'd survive somehow. I would not leave the job I currently have for any job that pays less. If I were suddenly to find myself without a job tho, I think I would do almost anything for work because the way I see it ...min. wage would be more than no wage at all. Actually, I know I would do that because I have and when in that situation, I keep my eyes open and searching for a better opportunity.

Hi kgwat70, I alas have to say that I work for minimum wage, but with a twist!!! I work part time, 20-28 hours a week. My husband is on disability and cant work. Here in Ireland when you are married and with a young family the state will subsidise you when you work at least 20 hours. So by the time we receive benefits I can bring home more than my husband did working full-time, and still be here for my family when they are growing up.

It depends more on the company I would be working for, not the job. People have to start somewhere. I couldn't see myself being able to survive on my own with just making minimum wage. I would need to have a room mate who could split the rent and utility bills with me. To live decently I would need to be making at least 30k a year.

When it comes to a job that pays, I could never turn down a job even if it is a minimum wage job. I am not picky at all, I would take anything that pays me.

it is very hard to survive on minimum wages, i know of others you can't afford all the monthly bills much less treats.
If I had no other choice then i would take the mimimum wage job full time. Something is better than nothing.
