Why do I always feel so down about the world?

In the opinion of most people around me, I am leading a happy life, having a decent job with a well-furnished apartment to live in and little economic burden to carry. But I feel so down because I have some dreams hard to realize. I want all the people around me to live well, while my parents, the people I care about most in the world, are living far away from me! Perhaps you may think I should have got them to live with me! But you know I am not living in the place where I have been brought up, I am living in a city which to my parents is like a foreign country because they have been in my hometown for nearly a lifetime, to live in a different place will be a torture for them! I know I can do something bigger rather than just be a teacher, maybe it is a job many people admire, but you will know how boring it is only if you are in it! I want a new try but I don't know where to start!

I'm trying to understand how you would feel, and I do know how parents can set their roots in a home, and they are hard to get them to move away from there! And maybe this is a start, for the answer of your feelings of depression! Here on myLot, there are a lot of listeners, and maybe someone will have the key or right answer that will help you in your feelings! The more you can socialize, the more the weight will come off your shoulders! Plus we have a lot of fun here on myLot, I know I do, and I've met some interesting friends! So keep your chin up ! !

Last night I came back home from work feeling exhausted and depressed! I came here to let out my concerns and complaints which I would never tell to people around me, because I don't want them to become worried about me! It is my first time to start a discussion here and I didn't even believe there would be a response, your quick response touched me and made me feel much better about myself. Sincere thanks to you, my friend! I am so glad to receive your response and believe it or not, I have read it three times. Thanks for encouraging me and suggesting to me a way to find more fun and friends.

Sorry you are feeling so down, I guess what you have written is proof that no one is really happy with their own lives. People would look at me without knowing about my struggles and think that I have it all too. I guess that is the lesson in letting go of jealousy.

You know, most of us have the common feeling with you. When we graduated from University, we had to choose getting a job in a big city or working in hometown. And we didn't know which choice would lead to success at that time. And when you felt upset after choosing a big city as fighting field, you might think,"if I had chosen another way, I would ...". But, you know, there was only one chance to make right choice. So when you have another chance to make choice, I suggest that you should think twice about " what are the most important things in your life". Money, health, family, friends, love ...?

Yes it is not very easy to realize your dream and it is impossible for someone to make all his ideals come true!Just as the author have said he even cannot make himself live with his parents! That is just a very small aim!But I think we should not be feel down!We must cherish our lifetime !We can find some enjoyable things to do when we feel unhappy! We can not be always in a blue state! It is useless and can not solve any problem!

I was trying to picture myself in your situation and i really dont know why you are feeling so down! If you dont like your current job and living so far away from your parents then maybe you sould search for a job that you would love and enjoy thats closer to them its worth a try good luck :)

we all feel down now and then. you worry about whether your parents lead a comfortable life, i worry about whether i can become a teacher after 4 years' college life.this is life, our heart hurts because we are alive. we should respond to the depression positively and raise above it.here, i give you a little suggestion. in fact, you needn't worry about your parents, for the countryside is so quiet and have so fresh air and the people there are so friendly that they really can enjoy a comfortable life.what you should do is call your parents and ask about their current conditions or if possible, go back home more frequently. as for your exhausted work, i only can say that you are great, for teachers influence so much in a child's life. cheer up!
