Do you prefer Cool Whip or Whipped Cream?

Some people don't even know the difference!
My MOM for example. I reminded her to buy Cool Whip to go with the Pumpkin Pie on Thanksgiving. She brought Whipped Cream in a can.
I GOTTA HAVE MY COOL WHIP! I can't eat pumpkin pie without coolwhip.
I'm not a big pumpkin pie fan to begin with. Cool Whip is the only thing that makes it bearable.
My daughter on the other hand is more of a Canned Whipped Cream fan, I think. She likes to just spray it straight into her mouth.
We need to work on her etiquette a bit!
Do you do that?
I'm looking forward to reading your responses!

Hi Miami,
Well I certainly didnt know the difference between the two other than that one was in a tub and the other was in a can. I like Cool Whip, its what I buy when I need that sort of topping. I mean the spray can is handy and all, but I think it costs too much. lol I can get a tub of Cool Whip for less than a dollar! *big grin*
I dont really remember the difference in taste, but I imagine there is some. I guess the can might be thicker or something. I really dont know, just guessing.
I think Cool Whip makes anything taste better! Hot chocolate, ice cream, pies, cakes. Except apple pie, I MUST have vanilla ice cream for that. Hehe

I think Cool Whip is a little sweeter tasting.
I never knew that about the price difference. I don't buy either often. Usually someone buys one or the other and brings it over around the Holidays.
I would rather have ice cream than any whipped topping on my apple pie too, but apple pie can be served all by itself and I'd still be happy. I love the stuff!

Cheaper is my middle name so Im always going to take that route! lol Yeah I think the can gets up close to $3, the tub is like 89 cents. Huge difference in price!
Im not a big apple pie fan, but if I do eat it, I need some ice cream with it. :)

I never buy it in a can because with three kids all sneaking a snort by the time I get it to put on my pies I get nothing but air and a few drops of oily fluids. I do like the cook whip and they don't seem to get into it so fast and it lasts longer in the house.

I have the same problem with cookie dough.
I can't keep it in the fridge. If I bring it home, I have to use it immediately, otherwise the dough doesnt' make it to the baking stage.

I've used both, but mostly like cool whip. It's easier and tastes good. I even like the cool whip light and mostly buy it now. I can just eat it with a spoon, so we don't keep it around that much! LOL. It is really good in hot chocolate also. Yumm.

I can't it it alone. It's gotta be on top of something. Hot chocolate sounds good.

It all depends on what Im having. I love pumpkin pie and have to have cool whip on it. Same with apple pie have to have cool whip. Now if Im having hot chocolate I have to have the ready whip spray kind. Now my kids would rather hav the spray whip. They love to sray it in there mouths too. So does my husband which is where they get it from. LOL. Like father like son!

I've always done marshmallows in the hot chocolate, but one of the restaurants that we have breakfast at sometimes puts whipped cream in it, when my kids order it. It looks pretty good.

But, they taste the same don't they? I like the cool whip because it is refrigerated!

It's most certainly Cool Whip for me. I like the taste better, and you can get a diet version of it. Oh nifty, I have some in my fridge, must go raid it now :)

I'm about to log off, but I'll go look for your discussion later and reply to it.
I always thought that the Cool whip was the one made with Dairy and the canned whipped cream wasn't.
If I remember right, the stuff in the can doesn't have to be refrigerated the cool whip does.
I always thought that was odd.

Hi :)
I prefer the tub of cool whip.Sometimes i do buy the cream and whip it myself but find its more sweeter and harder to digest because of the fat in the real cream,so i stick alot to the cool whip.I don't like the taste of the whipped cream in a can, tastes like space cream, something the astronauts would eat, haha,i think?!

WHIPPED CREAM, but it has to be the EXTRA CREAMY kind. It is the my all time favorite. I use it with anything and everything that is sweet and needs a little bit more of sweetening. I especially love it with my cheesecake. I love cheesecake so very much. Just the creaminess of it drives me wild and then add extra creamy whipped cream it's just irresistible. Whenever I go to the store to buy my whipped cream I always have to buy two of them and then I buy a New York Style Strawberry covered cheesecake by Sara Lee. It is absolutely to die for with that whipped cream. Give it a try. You just may have a new found love.

CoolWhip!Canned Whip Cream! Hey Miami, What's wrong with buying some real cream and whipping it up yourself? When it's holiday time you gotta step it up a little bit LOL.
It doesn't matter if it's pumpkin, banana or chocolate I really prefer the real thing but as a back-up coolwhip is the next best choice in my humble opinion.

I don't think I ever have had the real stuff!
I'm gonna have to make a point of trying it one day.

When I started to read this, I thought my daughter had written it! I forgot the cool whip, for the pumpkin pie she was going to make. I did have a can of whip cream on hand, but that was not going to work for her. She went out Thanksgiving morning on the quest of finding a store that was open and that had cool whip! And she found it.

If I had gone to the trouble of making the pumpkin pie myself, I probably would have done the same thing! lol

For me, it's got to be organic whipped cream. I like the way it comes out of the can in big bunches of fluff, and then I can spread the stuff all over just the way I like it. I've tried Cool Whip style stuff in a tub before, but I've since gone back to whipped cream.

well, i think both are good - haha. whipped cream is good for things like cappuchinos/frappuchinos, ice cream, hot cocoa &the like while cool whip is definitely the best pumpkin pie topping! haha.
