Well, today I did some serious Christmas shopping, but I went to a thrift store. I was really lucky today. All the toys I found were new and complete. I found a discontinued (collector's item) Megablocks Probuilder (retailed for $35.99) for $2! I bought it.
I also found several older Lego Bionicles for $2 each, still in their original boxes with all seals intact. Ok, so they are older Bionicles but to a 5 year old, they are still the most awesome toy ever. I also found a Fisher Price Lil People Dino T-Rex which retails at Big Lots for $8.88 and I only paid $3 for it!! I ended up spending $30 but I got some great stuff. I even got a circa 1995 Pioneer Barbie still in her original box for myself.
My friends think I was being cheap by shopping at the thrift store, but I think I was being smart by going there first. As it is, I wasn't even going there to buy Christmas stuff, I was done Christmas shopping way back around the 10th. I went to the thrift store to look for some old sheets that I could turn into window warmers since my windows leak. I just happened to get lucky and so I bought some extra gifts.
What do my fellow myLotters think? Was I being cheap or smart?

Not only smart, but SOOOO lucky! The roomie finds GREAT stuff at GOODWILL, she has a coworker/friend that collects pigs & she finds the most awesome, intersting pigs at Goodwill. Heck, I have a new collar on Ping that we got at Goodwill, maybe Goodwill, but some of the stuff is new.

You are being smart. I do this as well. I also hoard all my freebie hunting booty to put in the stockings. It can get really expensive to do everything for chirstmas and really people will be happy no matter what. But sounds like you got some really cool finds. Awesome!
