my husband is a boxing addict. no, he doesn't go boxing although i know he'd love more than anything to go into the sport. but every sunday, he is always glued to the tv to watch live or replayed boxing matches. the kids cannot contest on what tv show to watch or whether my son can play with his ps2 or not. since we only have one television set at home, my husband rules the tv remote every sunday.
well, we've all gotten used to it and have accepted this fact. he's a good dad to the kids on other days hahahahah...
anyway, what is it with boxing and guys? is it because it looks so macho to be hitting another guy and knocking him down?

It comes naturally with them in the same way that we women naturally like variety shows, cooking shows, or drama series. My husband is like yours too, he can't be disturbed until the fight has ended. There was even a time when I really felt bad because it seemed to me that boxing was more important to him. Now I'm used to it, and it's alright because he's a good husband, just give him his few hours on the sport and after that I have all his attention back anyway.

yep, there were times that i felt bad too coz he'd rather watch boxing than spend the time with me. but heck, i do realize that he spends most of his time with me and the kids. more importantly, we spend quality time together. that's what counts, right? ok... i'll let him be with his boxing.

i believe it's not about hitting the other guy and knocking him out. it is about the thrill and drama of boxing match. it is a telenovela reduced to a ring and few characters. the script is simple and the challenge is tremendous with about an equal chance of triumph.
hey, guys seldom care about girl's addiction to telenovelas or shopping. i think it makes the union between man and woman more exciting with these differences and mysteries. some differences are better left out and some mysteries are better discovered on our own.

My husband is the exact same way about mixed martial arts. Thankfully I enjoy it too. Not quite as much as he does though! His fascination with it can get annoying sometimes but most of the time it doesn't bother me.

Boxers are modern day Gladiators. They train, they sweat, they bleed, they cry, only to have that glory in winning a big fight. Boxing is the hardest sport of all sports. Not even the great Michael Jordan could be a boxer. Go tell Roy Jones to play basketball, and he could probably do it easily. Go tell Tom Brady to put on some boxing gloves and fight, he probably wouldn't last but a few seconds. Boxing tests you like no other sport. You have to have mental and physical toughness inorder to just to qualify as a decent fighter. Then comes the skill, speed, and power that seperates the greats from the rest.
I do agree watching two below average fighters, fight isn't like watching 2 great fighters at their best go at it.
Sit down with your husband oneday and just watch the fight. You might see what he sees

This sport is just plain nice. You get to see two guys beat the hell out of each other but not as brutal as MMA is. I just think that certain people will grow to like a certain thing or in this case a sport without knowing the exact reason to it. I like boxing but I do not know what the real reason is. I just like to watch it. I would suggest that you get a second television set for your kids to play their ps2 on and or for watching tv shows aside from boxing.

Men like sports in general. As for me, I only watch boxing when it's a very popular boxer, like Mike Tyson then and Manny Pacquiao nowadays. I think it's a violent sport. I prefer watching basketball, volleyball, billiards, and tennis.
