Just how much do you get into your countries politics?

It's that time when the US starts hearing about all the people who are looking for money to help them run their campaigns for President of the United States. They open campaign centers in store fronts and get volunteers to answer phones and run errands for them. They hold rallies in as many states as they can to reach out to the people telling them what they are planning to do if they are elected. They hug and kiss people, shake everyone's hands and take all the donations they can get to pay for it all.
In the end....in my opinion...if they win they forget everyone they spoke to and everything they said. As soon as they hit that president's seat they are a changed man!I'm not big on politics...can you tell? I can't thnk of one time that the man I've voted for president won...oh, well, yes, there was one time but many, many years ago.
I'm just one of those people who do not trust politicians. Not local, state or country! To me they are all alike.
How much into your country's politics do you get? Are you involved in ways most people aren't? Do you volunteer to be on committees or wherever a politician may need you? What are your thoughts on politics?

I do not get into politic's very much.I might would but i have been so disappointed with all the promises that never happen and all the crooked back biting and such,it just makes me sick.I will do my duty and vote for someone that i feel is good, but i do not have any faith in politic's any longer, its no wonder that people are sick of the whole thing..

It's the disappointments that keep citizens from getting involved and I don't understand why the politicians can't see that.

I'm so glad you started this discussion, ctry, because now I get a chance to vent. I do try and keep up with what's going on in the world of politics(as a responsible citizen), but they have become so slimy that I want as little as possible to do with them. I foolishly signed on to support two different candidates in their campaigns for President. By the following week I could not imagine what had led me to do so. Both candidates immediately started bombarding my email with requests for donations. I don't have money, and if I did I'm sure I could find a much better use for it. I am seriously considering not voting in the upcoming election because I think they begin campaigning much too soon. I am sick of it already and can't imagine having to endure almost another whole year of their empty promises.

Now that they have the internet to ask for money on these guys are getting way out of hand aren't they? It's sad when you can't even join a committee because of such a thing isn't it? I'm thinking about not voting this time around myself.

I think most of us have learned to distrust politicians and take what they say with a grain of salt. Since I started voting in 1970, more of my candidates made it into office than didn't, but all of us tend to go back to our lives of work and home and work and home and the bigger picture doesn't seem to really touch us from day to day. I have become what I call an armchair activist in the last couple of years, though. I get notices from different watchdog organizations, and write my senators and representatives quite often. I've been impressed to actually get responses every time. I realize they were probably rote answers on various subjects written by staff people, but it was good to notive they actually will pay attention when a constituent writes them.

I am not into politics either.Politicians have to lie to get the backing they need to win and when they do, they have to appease the special interest groups that got them into office. The last president I really liked and was interested in was Clinton.I liked him. And to tell the truth if the Supreme Court had given the presidency to Gore instead of Bush, I wouldn't have been cared. But I think there are many people stopped caring after 2000 because they know their votes don't or won't count.Soon there will be a time where the politicians will do their thing, trying to rule and most people ignoring them.

I just read and commentate on federal or "big-time" politics and to a lesser extent state politics. Local politics I keep a small tab on. It seems I'm more "interested" in the big deal politics due to the implications, facets, acts (or inaction), numerous things. If you really want my thoughts on politics, government and such, just go to politics as a hobby/interest.

Well the first part of your topic, when they are rallying and shaking your hand and hugging you then when they get to the presidenta seat they stop tlaking to you, do u really expect our president to be out in the road shaking peoples hand and hugging them? they have more things to worry about i mean of course if they know u personally mabey a friendly phone call but as president you cant just go walking down a street, for exsample! george bush.lol could u imagine him wlaking down the way? he would prbally get shot!. theres alot of people who dont like him.. i think if they could mabey they would but its to nuch of a security measure,
i really dont get into politics to much, but when i see somthing intresting on yahoo i read it, and think to myself what i think and then go on about my day, this year though, i really wanna try and keep up with who is running for president and who i think deserves but if i cannot keep up and i dont know everything about every canidate im not gana vote because i dont wanna choose person who is absolutly the worse person for the seat. but like is aid i really wanna be in there this year, nabey ill come back and answer this question after they start campaigning
