Does coffee wake you up?

I drink coffee because I like it, not because it wakes me up. It doesn't, nor does caffeine in any form, except tablets. I like that because I can drink it any time of the day- unlike some people who can't drink it in the afternoon or evening because it will keep them awake. But it is also annoying on those days when I need a pick-me-up, and nothing helps.
How does coffee affect you?

I also drink coffee because i like it.5 teaspoons of sugar, and its sweeter than sweets :)It doesnt wake me up, it never did. And, like you said, its a bit sad because when in need to stay awake you need something like this.To others it works.I havent tried caffeine tablets, i am not that maniac to stay awake.I can have some music if needed urgently and my eyes are closing.

Coffee doesn't do anything for me except leave a bad taste in my mouth, lol. Mountain Dew and Vault will make me act like I'm almost drunk, though....not hyper, but much more relaxed, open, and a bit giggly. It's really quite weird. That's the only form of caffeine that I've ever find to affect me, though.

It sort of does it. And maybe I should be doing 2 cups and not just 1. I'll say it seems to work more in the winter when I want the warming effect. Seems the body reacts to that as well causing a type of body wake up, at least for me. Energy drinks are my choice of wake up poison though. They sort of work in the morning, but they catch up during the later parts. Its interesting.

I'm not sure if it is coffee that wakes me up or I might have got used to wake up with a coffee. If I drink coffee during the day it might cause difficulties sleeping to me too. I experience this state you're describing and nothing to pick me up in Winter. In Summer I don't have this experience, to feel sleepy or tired and nothing to wake me up. I can wake up better and easier in the morning during Summer.

I too, i'm a coffee addict, i really love the taste, it doesnt matter if it wakes me up or not, but for my experiences, coffee doesnt make me wake up, even if i drink too much, i will surely fall asleep when i'm tired, coffee doesnt affect my sleep, maybe because i'm already immune?

Coffee makes me have the gitters! If i drink any amount i wont be able to sleep for HOURS afterwards, and if i drink a LOT of coffee, i start to get the shakes, and it makes me sweat and be all hyper and i can't sit still. But its not a good feeling really.

Yes, coffee is my vitamin. Coffee is better than milk because milk makes me sleepy. I love coffee and it is one of my favorite drink specially in the morning. I take a cup of coffee in the morning, even in the lunch time, merienda time or dinner time. I will take also a coffee when I feel something unexplain to my body and when I feel stress. For me coffee is my vitamin for my body.

I love drinking coffee. If you'd ask me to choose between coffee and tea...I would choose coffee in a heartbeat.Such drink is readily available in an instant or you could create your own, like brewed or cappuccino or add mocha in it. You could even add some flavors to it like vanilla or do your own gourmet coffee if you know how to make it and have the machine.
For me, I noticed that the effect of coffee energize me.I believe because it keeps me active and awake especially when I am busy doing something. But drinking night time doesn't bother me at all.By the time I lay on my bed, I try reading some books until my eye worn out and doze for sleep.I am aware caffeine content of coffee is dangerous to health, but I take some food supplement like multivitamins that detoxify it...So no worry at all!

I know what you mean about coffee and other caffinated drinks not waking you up. I can drink a cup of coffee before bed and still have no trouble sleeping. Lots of my friends can't do that. Some of them actually get shaky if they drink caffinated coffee after a certain time.

I like coffee too.. It helps to keep me awake especially if i have some deadlines need to work on for 48 hours or so. Though sometimes too much of it caused a rapid heartbeating, i slow down a bit. Maybe 3cups would do, but normally i drink 6-7cups a day.

I just have to say that you are just like my husband. He likes drinking coffee but doesn't get any effects such that of a stimulant. In fact it is a habit of his to drink coffee right before bedtime, to get sleepy, I don't know, probably. I, on the other hand do not drink coffee, if I do want one I would drink decaf. The main reason is because I have trouble sleeping when I get to drink the caffeinated one.

Coffee doesn't really wake me up. Likewise for tea.
I drink it more because I like it and for the antioxidant property.
Nothing works best than ample sleep - not only before you need it, but always.:P

Yea of course it does. Atleast it works out for me. Even the smell of coffee wakes me up from sleep. As it is stimulant it does the perfect job of stimulating you and making you feel refreshing from head to toe.

I am an in between. I usually drink coffee because I like it and if it is a normal cup of coffee I can drink it right up till bedtime. Really strong coffees, and coffee in large quantities can keep me awake and even make me a little jittery. In college I drank cappuccinos, the biggest size with extra shots. I worked for Starbucks for awhile and drank a lot of coffee there...

Coffee makes me awake but most of it, I enjoy not only the taste but to have some coffee with friends, officemates, school mates and new acquintances. I'm a fan of Starbucks and some coffee shops around. I believe coffee affects our body, it has some substance aside from caffeine that boosts our immune system against illnesses. Come and let's have double espresso!
