Like a marathon, half-marathon, or 10km run?
Recently, I participated in a 10km run. It was quite interesting to run with others and experience the whole race day atmosphere. this run was part of a series that others took part in, including the full marathon of 42.1km.
Do you think it's madness to train one's body to run a full marathon? It really takes endurance and perserverence. I don't think I could do it at this point. The 10km was already quite a challenge for me.
but I must say regular running increases one's metabolism rate, and I feel much less guilty about eating 'unhealthy' food, knowing that I'll burn it up faster!
if you enjoy running in races, what are some tips on preparation that you'd like to share?

If i wanted to fall down grasping for breath i would do it LOL.No, i am not good at marathon races.I am very fast at 100metres, thought i havent ran for much time, I know i am very good at it.After 100metres i am useless, seems my stamina is really low.Running is always good thing to do, very good for fitness.

I'm too old to run in a marathon. I am not fit and do not have the endurance for such a distance event. The furthest I've run was about 10Km, and that was already very taxing for me. It's no joke running 42Km or even 21Km unless one is very fit and has adequately trained himself for it. I recently caught up with a 48-year old car dealer I know, and he told me that he just participated in his 6th marathon. I was really surprised to learn that, and I actually told him that I'd take my hat off to him for such an achievement at the age that he is in.

never too old! there are some 70 year olds who only started running in their 50s. :)

me and my cousins always joins in a marathon but tht was during our teen years. when we started going to college we started to go lesser and lesser. me and my children sometimes go to a sport center here in our city and there is a track and field oval there. so we jog there. but that is only sometimes. lol

I am not interested in running as I am bad at it. I can't run fast for the short distance. However, I have no strength to run for a long distance, either. So I won't participate to the running race.

i love running.. i have participated in many marathons half marathons really any running... i wish that i could go back to running.. after having a car accident and severly hurting my back i wont be running for quite sometime to say the least... in preparation what i did was focus.. thats the main thing that you have to do... think in your head i think i can i think i can.. like thomas the train... and pace yourself.. thats the key to running a marathon of great distances... and then go hard at the very end...

No, never. I dislike running and think all the joggers look silly in their outfits. Plus, if you want to run...it seems like running in an less restricted concrete area would be more pleasant than get herded into a 50,000 person marathon with cops and ambulances and fans everywhere. I dislike the whole idea and can't believe they televise these events. Good luck on your hobby and stay hydrated.

I used to join in a lot of runs when I was still schooling.
Now that I am older, I cannot run as much anymore without experiencing any pains after that.
I missed those days where I get to run and run. But running at my own pace rather than in a competitive environment.
I can run the distances, but I can never make the timing at so many competitive participants are achieving.
10 km? It would probably take me 4 hours or more to complete!
I guess if one is preparing for a race, plenty of fluids and rest is key to successfully completing the race.

Im 16 and I am on my cross country and track team. We are now in XC season. I love it! For our races we run a 5k(3.1 mi.). However after the season is over, I want to run a half marathon. And for my 18th birthday which is in a year and a half I would like to run a marathon, then i would feel that nothing could stop me. I love to run!I will always be a distance runner.
