We used to heat with coal and wood but it was so hard packing all that wood all the time and coal also so I talked my husband into kerosene heaters and now that is what we heat with and it is so much simpler and not having to worry about it going out at night and it is steady heat. And alot cleaner then coal and wood.

Our home has electric heat and forced air. It's the worst type to have in our area, because it dries the air, and our air is desert dry already.

We actually have two heating/air conditioning units.
One for the upstairs and one for the down stairs. I didn't know they did that separate floor unit thing until we moved here just a little over a year ago. From what we are told, it actually conserves energy. OK...if they say so. ha ha
But they run on gas for heating. But we also have a fireplace that I use.
It also can be gas fed...but I prefer burning wood. :)

We use gas if necessary, although more often than not we will rug up instead to save the money that we would spend on gas. Also it is better for our health as well as the environment to rug up. Not so easy for those with children of course, but it suits us these days. :)
