Do you send Christmas Cards?

I just received a Card that literally almost made my heart stop. It was unexpected but very wanted, and from someone very very special, so it made me very happy. It wasn't technically a Christmas card, but as you can imagine and considering today it's Dec 21st, I will consider it as one.
So my question is, Do you normally send Christmas Cards? why or why not? I normally send 2 or 3 to people who live far away from me, but normally don't do the same with the people who live in my town. The reason is basically that i see them often, so i get to tell them merry Christmas in person, which is way better I think.
So what do you do? send Christmas cards or not?

I don't know why, but receiving mail is always exciting, isn't it? it happens to me both in the normal mail and the email, but more in the postal mail...very cool. So Christmas is not different, you're right. Thank you for replying.

I love sending Christmas cards to friends and family at Christmas and always have done. It's a good way of wishing them a Happy Christmas, especially people yopu do not see very often. We also receive loads from friends and family too and put them up in the living room.

It's lovely to see that there are still people like you who enjoy sending cards. Nowadays people are lazier I think, plus the net has made things change, so some people send E-Cards now, or simply Email. Anyway, I guess what matters is that someone thinks of you, right? :) Thanks for replying.

I know how you feel. I must admit I am really lazy for letters in general, and for Christmas cards in particular. But i've been pen friends with someone for more than 10 years now and i've always sent her cards, so I don't want that to change. Thank you for replying.

I always send Christmas cards. I know it does cost far too much but, every year I send out about 20 cards. The reason I do this is because people send them to me and it is a bit embarrassing when you haven't sent one to them. This year I got one from my friend in Belgium and I had forgotten to send him one. Of course I rushed out and sent him one straight away but he won't get it before Christmas and it makes me sad that he will think I have forgotten him.

wow, 20 cards, you really are an example of determination and will hehe. I usually send UNICEF cards. Perhaps they're not the most beautiful, but at least I know I use them for a good cause. Anyway of course, to each his own. Thank you for replying.

It's cool that you think like that, karilyn...I do think about them as well, but instead of sending cards, what i usually do is phoning them, or simply setting an appointment with them to go out a night or something like that...personal touch fits me better i guess.

Hello LightninStrike,
I'm glad your heart was warmed by the card you received. Your response to that card is the same I get when I receive Christmas cards from friends & relatives. Because that feeling is so very touching, I make a point to hopefully send that same bit of cheer out each year.
Hubby & I live over 2000 miles away from most of our friends, and all of our family. So, we send many Christmas cards every year. It's just a nice way to let our loved ones know that they are in our thoughts and hearts.

In the church I belong to we can send cards to members that live in our district. Our District includes churches from Grand Rapids Michigan to Indianapolis Indiana and many towns in between. We then donate the money to our church youth group for different activites that they do and trips they go on. We can dontate any amount but they like the regular price to send a card through the mail.

I see that you're really active in the life of your church. If it works for you and your family, it's awesome. I'm not such a religious man, and I don't go to church even though I'm a catholic, but I like that people like you do things that make them happy and make their community better. Thank you for replying.

Well, it have been a long time since the last time I received a card, whatever the Xmas card, Birthday card or other cards...
When I was a middle student, I send and received cards in special festivals. It was a happy thing to do this. You know when you send a card, you'll happy to express your feelings. When you receive a card, you'll happy too.
But I don't know why now I don't send cards any more..lol..And many of my friends also don't send cards any more. Maybe it's not a traditonal way to express one's feelings in our country. And you're right that we just tell them merry Xmas and happy new year face to face or through the phone or the net...It's seems that cards are not so popular any more...lol...
BTW, Merry Christmas, though there's not a card. ^_^

I usually don't send Christmas cards, but I decided to give it a try this year. I decided that I won't be doing that any more. I have a strange philosophy about Christmas of no obligations. Well, the cards just felt like more and more of an obligation the more I wrote. Most of the people I haven't talked to all year, so I couldn't figure out why I was sending them a card. Maybe I really am a scrooge, I don't know.

i send cards at christmas just to let the peolpe i know i'm thinking about them. this year i didn't get a chance to so i'm setting down and writing letters to let each one know what they mean to me and hand delivering them. i think that's the next best thing.

I do not because I do not have many people to send them to. I just give gifts to the few people I know. If I knew more people I might opt for sending cards, but as it is my social circle is very small and does not go very far beyond my family, so I can easily just give real presents.

Well I really intend on doing it each year at the begining of the holiday, but somehow I forget and I don't get them out on time. So No I don't send christmas cards out. The family that is far away usually will get an ecard from me becuase I can send that at last minute But I usually will hand christmas cards to friends when we exchange gifts.
