Please stop this rollercoaster so I can get off!

I swear I've been on the craziest emotional/financial rollercoaster for months now. I've been so ecstatic over my upcoming surgery, and also over the fact that I finally got all of my tests done. Before that, my son and I verbally duked it out because of him and hubby not getting along. And now, I find out that a collection agency is taking me to court over unpaid medical bills! As if that's going to get the money out of me sooner. If I had it, the bills wouldn't be sitting in collections. Grrrrr! I wish this all would just STOP so I can be happy and peaceful again! Oh, well, once I get all the papers filed, maybe we can go through one of the alternatives to court, like mediation or something like that. Sorry all....I needed to vent again. I think I feel a teensy bit better now. Now if I can just stop thinking about it for an hour or so it might be a little better. Thank you all for being patient enough to listen...er....read. Hugs to everyone.

Vent away my friend. I know exactly what it's like with the financial part of your situation cause we have oodles of med and a few cc bills that are now 6mo. behind but we are going thru a debt solutions center which has done cut the bills in 1/2 and we pay the rest off in installments thru the lawyer. Will take 2 yrs. but least they will get paid off and they can't harass us anymore.

I tried that, but none of the companies I contacted will take this particular bill because it's actually a whole bunch of separate medical bills from the same hospital. And that complicates things all to heck. Once this gets all straightened out, I'm going to go through the debt consolidation with the rest of my bills to avoid this kind of thing happening again. Thanks hon.

I've de-stressed a bit, since hubby hasn't been served his papers yet. I think they only have a certain amount of time to get them to him or the case will have to be refiled. By that time we will have the money from our tax return to pay it off. Thanks so much hon.

Katlady,
I have a couple questions. How far back are the outstanding medical bills? Have you applied for medical assistance through the dept of welfare with your state? The reason I ask this is becasue if you have any unpaid medical bills and get approved for medical with the dept of welfare through the state they will take care of you back bills ... I think they might go a yr or two back not sure each state has it's own guidelines on how far back they go. And if you have medical through your spouse and sign up through the dept of welfare and they approve they end up paying what your husbands insurance doesn't pay. It's about the best advice I can offer. Good luck and I hope things start to get better for you.

The bills go back a little over three years. I don't think we would qualify for the dept. of welfare and their program, simply because hubby makes too much according to their guidelines. But I'm still going to check into it anyway. The worst they can do is say no. Thanks hon.

good luck in checking if you qualify, your right the worst they can do is say no. Have you checked the Salvation Army and Goodwill.? Because sometimes they have programs that can help. Good luck in everything. I'm always here as a sounding board if you need it.

Oh sweetie hugs and purrs and prosperous energies to you! And vent away if it makes you feel better! Sometimems that's the only thing that does! Being bipolar I've been on an emotional rollercoaster forever and I know that's not fun! Our financial situation is pretty grim too, though we've mananged to avoid collection agencies so far. So far we've been lucky with medical bills... we don't have great insurance... they balk at paying for practially anything but if we keep at them they eventually pay. At least they have so far, all appendages crossed! And don't get me started on dental bills and keeping our two ancient vehicles running. But being harassed by a collection agency and the possibility of having to go to court... I can only imagine the stress for you and it's just so absurd on their part. What are you supposed to do? Create money out of the air? Hopefully, you'll get a good smart honest logical mediator who will help you sort all this out. Now go hug a cat!

I keep trying to grow my money tree, but it keeps dying at the roots! Darn it! I'm trying to stay optimistic. I'm hoping to be able to get it paid off with our tax return and just be done with it. Hopefully they can wait that long. I'm definitely hugging my kitties, and boy does it help. Hugs to you hon.

My kids' stepmom, who works for the county told me the same thing. Since it's medical bills, they can't really do much of anything. My credit report already sucks, so it's not going to make much of a difference if it's on there or not. LOL! Great BIG hugs to you too PPP.

Goodness, it is a rollercoaster. My time is a bit limited Katlady so I have to be brief (making typos as a go along). Anyways, I do hope at least some of this can turn around for you. Sounds like a lot of stress to me, and around the Holidays... not good in my opinion. As far as any real solutions, if I'm able to "lightbulb" I'll post it. I don't know what you could do about the collection agency, but it is real sad they are going to attack an ailing person over it. Yes I know, its their job to collect money and to punish those not paying, but a good amount of cases are very unnecessary! Usually its people who can't make enough to pay for something very important, or someone acted unscrupulously with charging or some monetary situation and the victim got screwballed bad.
Wow I said my time was limited but my fingers and thoughts were blazing just thing (like my other discussion). Anyways, wishing you the best Katlady! Good luck with the newest struggles that popped up.

Sometimes I think that people who work for those kinds of agencies have totally black hearts and don't care about the people they are dealing with at all. Oh well....they still aren't going to get the money any faster, since I don't have any to give. Thanks so much my friend.

Isn't it just the way... I guess they figure you feel better now, and thats the best time to smack you down! And at Christmas, to boot!! Don't think about it again until Wednesday... no one will be working til then, anyway, so there's nothing you can do... try to enjoy your holiday, in spite of it all... HUGS!

I definitely intend to enjoy the holidays, court or no court. I'm also looking at it this way...hubby hasn't been served his set of papers yet from the court, and I don't think they can even proceed until he's been served anyway. So that just gives me more time to get everything together. HUGS to you too hon.
