is not the FIRST person to get pregnant at a young age, but man the tabloids sure act like it! She's becoming more known over night since her pregnancy was announced. So how do you think it will affect the young girls who idolize her? Do you think they will look down on her for it, OR do you think they will think its cool to get pregnant at such a young age and try it out themselves, OR do you think they wont care either way? Do you think that parents will be less likely to allow their kids to watch her show now?

People seem to think her financial status will make things easier for her. First of all, Jamie isn't that wealthy. She has a hit show, but there have been several stars more famous and richer that have ended up broke.
Secondly money isn't the only thing needed to raise a child. As amother of two, I can't imagine having children at 16, but that's me and it can be done. I just think children sometimes suffer having young parents who are fully equipped to be a parent.

i agree with having money does not automatically make her a great parent, but i had my first at 17, my second at 21 and my third at 23, we bought our first house at 18, and our second at 21, i don't think ALL children that are born to young parents suffer! my kids r very happy, as r we, i'm even a stay at home mom, b/c my hubby makes enough to support all of us! my kids r active in sports, my oldest does really good in school (others don't go yet), i think it taught us to be responsible having a child that young, and as we all know it doesn't matter what age u r, u can be like britney have a kid at 24 n still be irresponsible, i know many older irresponsible parents, so i don't think age is much of a factor, it's the person u are and wanna be once you start having children!
i think the bigger issue is b/c she's a role model to children her age and younger, and what message she's sending them!

I 100% agree with you! I had my first kid at 23, almost 24 and my 2nd at 26 and it has NOT been easy. I couldnt imagine doing it at 16!

I'm not sure how kids will see it. She is a completely different situation than most teen parents - she has already had a very successful career, and probably has the monetary resources to take care of a child. Most teen parents do not have such an easy road.

I dont believe at all that she's going to have an easy road ahead. She has money right now, but who knows what will happen to her show now and she just might end up broke. I hope she doesnt, for the sake of that child.

Having money just helps financially - the baby will have a home, insurance to recieve health care, food, clothes, etc. The average teen mother does not have access to the same things.

i think she is one of the first to get pregnant while still being a tween idol, i think that's why it's a big deal, someone in another post mentioned beyonce's lil sister solange, but she wasn't really anyone when she got preggo and still isn't anyone, so i think that is a big reason why it wasn't a big deal. jamie lynn is Zoey 101 and how are parents gonna feel knowing their 15 yr old daughter who idolizes zoey and knows she's 16 and preggo! i'm glad my daughter is too young to watch zoey 101, cause i know i'd know longer allow her to idolize her! i know there is a fifth season that hasn't ran yet, and i wouldn't agree with nickelodeon running it either.

I think it's pathetic how much publicity she has had, but I think posts like this only give her more publicity. Really we should all ignore the fact she is pregnant heck maybe she only got pregnant for the publicity in the first place. I mean had she not heard of contraception? Even the morning after pill? I mean how many men have slept with her and if she never used contraceptive with any of them then she could well have aids. With the position she is in she should have reacted more responsible. It's hardly an example to set to other girls her age is it?

well if my post gave her more publicity, you gave her some by responding. I do agree that its hardly an example for other girls her age...if i had a daughter her age, this would be a time that i would set her down and have a talk.

I don't think she is being a good role model and wonder if she did it for some attention. Maybe she's feeling big sis is getting too much publicity and wanted a way to get out of her show. I am glad she is choosing to have it and at least not covering it up. I do feel sorry for all those kids that watch her show and looked up to her and now are confused. I mean come on we are in an age where birth control is 99.9% effective!

yeah, she could have done it for some attention, but thats selfish to that unborn baby if she did. I got pregnant with my daughter when i was on the pill but i was also 23 and married. I could imagine being 16...

well as a parent i think that they should pull her from nickelodeon and not condone what she has done. and since i have a teenage girl whom did look up to her sister brittney once she found out that brittney was pregnant she was not happy. and now days these teenage girls think that whatever their idol do they think its cool if they do it also. the only thing they are not looking at is that these girls have the money and means to support their kids and they dont.

I am not sure if i know who jamie Lynn Spears is..I just bought a tabloid so i will check and see if she is there. Some of the girls that really idolize her might think its really cool to get pregnant, and some won't, i supposs it depends on the teenager.I think that parents would probably tell their daughters not to follow in her foot steps.I do not think parents will approve..That is just my opinion .I do not have any teenagers at home now, but i would have not approved when i did have my girls at home.

Teen girls will continue to think it might be cool to have a baby regardless of what Jamie Lynn or any other teen star is doing. I'm not saying all teen pregnancies happen that way but the ones that do will happen any for for one reason or another. If it's not because of Jamie Lynn it will be because of the adorable baby dress the girl say in a store. I don't think that the majority of girls in a position to get pregnant are watching Zoey 101 much anymore anyway.
