My sons first birthday is coming up in about a month and I was just wondering what other mothers had done in the past for their childrens first birthday. Who did you invite? What type of foods do you serve? And if you played any games what were they?

We did a big meal for family and close friends and had a regular cake for the guests to eat and a small cake for my son to destroy. It was great fun. We did mostly family and friends for his second birthday too and then went to kids parties as of the third. He's five now and I still remember how much fun that first birthday party was. Hope you'll have a wonderful time!

As my 6th childs first birthday slowly approaches (she'll be 1 in May) I have begun to reflect on what I did for the other 5 children. I recall inviting any friends or relatives who had small children, the child's grandparents, godparents, etc. I didn't play any games, just let the kids play and let everyone mingle and enjoy eachothers company. We of course had cake. And I also recall having a small veggie tray, chips, cheese puffs (for the little ones) and punch. Just something very basic and made sure we took lots of pictures. It was always better for my summer babies though, because my uncle would BB-Q, and the kids could play in the kiddie pool.

For my son's 1st birthday party we had hamburgers and hot dogs. We only invited family and a few clothes friends and I also invited the kids that I babysit everyday. We didn't play any games or anything like that. My son's birthday is in May so we had it outside and let the kids play on the swingset and with other toys.

For Malachi's first we just had a little party at my inlaws house for family and friends. It wasn't a huge party or anything. We didn't play games because most of his friends were younger or the same age so getting them to play games was impossible! (We did try pin the tail on the donkey, but that didn't go as smooth as we'd planned....jk of course lol). We are coming up on Malachi's 2nd next month so I think this will be bigger then last year. We might even do the whole Chucky Cheese thing. Also at the first we just had finger foods.

My daughters first birthday is next month, too. For my sons first birthday all we did was a cake and a few presents. My mom and dad and a few of my brothers were there. Nothing big. They don't really remember the first one.

I have had 4 sons, and for every one of them, when they turned one, the party was a family only event. The cake was ALWAYS chocolate (even if just a cupcake), because getting pictures of kids eating chocolate cake and making a huge mess all over them is imperative in every baby album, don't you think? ;) The family wasn't just immediate. There were aunts and uncles and cousins invited, and of course the grandparents on both sides. As for food, it was always a buffet style. I think the first year we splurged and did a bbq as well, but that was too much work. Thinking back, I should have done a pot luck for all of them. lol We never played any games, but everyone seemed to have some one on one time with the birthday boys, and could play with them and their new gifts.

We had a bowling party. We called a local bowling alley got prices for a party. They provided gift bags and invitations. We invited friends, family and all her little cousins. The 1st 10 kids got to eat free. She had a the time 6 girl cousins alone. We got a big cake. That made for wonderful pics of her face covered in icing!LOL kids and adults alike had a blast. As an added bonus she got a bowling pin keepsake. It's in her room to this day. She loves it. Congrats whatever you do, just enjoy the day!

I purchased a new home at that time so what I did for my first child when she turned one was had an open house/house warming party along with her birthday party...I invited all my friends, hubby's co-workers, my ex-co-workers and all our family and extend families over and gosh the whole house was filled...she had lots of fun playing with all the little kids...I had some food catered and also I made some treats along with my mom...We had Chinese food catered and made some Filipino desserts...We played a guess game, had confetti put into the balloons with prize notes inside it and had it blow up into the ceiling turn off the fan and people are to catch the balloons pop them to see what gifts they won...gifts can be from a kiss from the birthday girl to hugs or a candy treat a cookie and the biggest present was a kiss from the birthday girl and a basket of goodies fill with candy kisses...

Since this is my grandson, I get a vote...haha. Please no games..hehe. I'm ready for the big day and have a special "monkey" surprise. However, he will probably get the monkey early...haha. I think the younger kids will have fun playing together and the family will enjoy chatting and catching up with the news! Don't stress over it!

hi nicolecab! for my son's firtst birthday, i started planning months before coz i really wanted it to be special. here in our place, a baby's 1st birthday is always celebrated. but i was on a tight budget so i decided to have it on a kiddie fast food near our place. most kids loves the mascot there and im sure every kid will enjoy the party. i was not content with the souveniers and giveaways that's included in their party packages so i decided to have my own. it was all worth it, the expenses, the effort and the time i spend preparing the party. i saw how my son enjoyed having other kids with him. the pictures were also priceless memories of his special day.

Hi, I am father of a daughter my baby's first birthday I was not able to attend as the court did give any order for than. But that date was made just few days back so the particular birthday of my child was not able to celeberate as my case was in family court and it was not safe for me and my child to have it at her mothers home. I missed it very much as one of the most big pain in my life.

For 1st birthday don't consider of having a clown. Your son might be scared of it and it will just ruin his mood the whole time. You can just prepare games for the children to make the party lively. Children loves spaghetti, hotdogs, fried chicken, ice cream and cake. Don't forget the party favors. :) Goodluck!
