or do you find doing this a waste of time? I am sure there are mant of you here who have done this a time or two, to only get started and then by the end of January, you give up hope to go back to what you were doing before this. I am considering eating more Salads, and walking a lot more to try and loose some of the Excess weight I have gaines in the last yr. or so, but not wanting to make it as a resolution so I will not be letting myself down if I cannot stick to it. But I know especially with being Diabetic and on Insulin, loosing weight would help in more ways than one. No, I do not really have a lot I need to loose, but if I can get some type of routine going, I know I will feel better about myself as well.

No, I do not really have a resolution. I was never one for resolutions in the new year though I would like to start working out (again). I need to get into a routine and keep it up this time. I might as well start in the new year as it's too late to do anything about THIS year :P Happy New Year! :)

I do always find myself setting a New Years Resolution. The reason why I always seem to catch myself doing so is for the simple fact that I enjoy trying to meet the goal which meets me. My New Years Resolution for this year is to stay better informed of the Worldly invents that take place every day. Also, I have set a New Years Resolution to better improve myself, and my society.

These are good Goals to shoot for, and personally you can never learn enough I feel when it comes to learning about the World around us, and learning how to better improve yourself and your society.

I do not make resolutions, and what I do, I do all year long. I form intentions. My intention is to get healthier in 2008. In January my focus might be just to get a little more active. I may record it, journal style, when I am more active. You know--up and down my stairs nine times today. I walked to the store this afternoon. I worked out on Wednesday. In February I might also add the intention of being more organized at home, etc. It is not all at once, it is not all or nothing. I need to lose some weight, as I intend not to become diabetic. One of the ways, if you are not borderline already, is to get your sugars as far away from it as possible, by making good food choices, and as you say, losing some weight and being more active. If I make resolutions, then fail at them, it is just one more thing to beat myself up over. I will see you, with good intentions, next year. Happy New Year, my friend.

I don't do New Year's resolutions in January, I try to do mine in November, usually the 1st-3rd which is the time between years in my religion. I use three days to focus on the past year, tie up loose ends, and prepare for the upcoming year. My wife tends to do the same except she only prepares for the upcoming holidays and the makes a new goal at New Year's Day. She likes to break goals down into milestones that she can then follow up on and check off her list. Of course this often means that on the 31st of each month there is a "I HAVE to get this done NOW" to meet her goals for herself.

I haven't this year. I didn't feel the need to, I have set sorts of ones I'd like to keep but these aren't that "wow I must" so if I fail to do keep them I won't be so bothered. ~Joey

I avoid setting new years resolutions because it seems I always end up not reaching my goals - it's less stressful for me just to keep going and try to do my best slowly.

No, I usually don't set resolutions. And I won't be this year either. I just strive to be a better Christian every day. I don't have the health issues that you have. That would be a good thing for you to try to do especially if it makes you feel better making these changes. Happy New Year to you and may you have a blessed 2008!

It is good to set new rules in your life every new year. I hope you do get the best of your new year's resolution. I am planning to lessen my smoking habit. Thanks for this post.

I do make New Year resolutions but not so many that there is no way possible to keep them. I am going to start a journal this year which I never ever have done. I read a article and it says keeping a journal helps to keep a person focused on what they are trying to accomplish. I also am going to keep strictly to a exercise program so I can lose some weight. One other thing is I am going to try to eat more healthy. That along with staying with my exercises should help me lose weight. As I go along in the month of January if there is anything else that I think will improve me that I need to add to the list I will. A lot of people make resolutions with the thought in the back of their mind they will not be able to keep them. Part of making a resolution is putting yourself in the frame of mind that I will succeed. It is called the power of positive thinking.
