Okay, 16 is young, but not enough to not know you are pregnant? Don't you think? She claimed she wasn't pregnant and then had the baby at work. And how come mom didn't notice her daughter was pregnant either?

I've heard about girls not getting any bigger when they are pregnant, you wouldn't know they are carrying a baby unless they would personally tell you. I guess they carry very small children of something, because the baby has to go somewhere right?
But still, it does happen, a colleague of mine had a pregnancy like that too.
Next thing: her period must have stopped. She would've known that, unless she did loose blood during the pregnancy but that's not a good sign. Also, there must have been some discomfort like morning sickness etc.
Another explanation: perhaps she was raped or something and very scared, she didn't tell anyone and just told them she was sick (in combination with a small tummy during the pregnancy). Only thing I can think off... hard to believe story.
I hope mother and child are doing fine.

You know I always wonder when I hear stories like that but in fairness there are women a lot older than her that claim giving birth took them by surprise too. Some women have very irregular periods anyway, some women have "spotting" during pregnancy which they mistake for their period. I also have a friend who hardly had a bump when she was almost at full term, most people probably didn't realise she was pregnant when they saw her. I guess what puzzles me the most about it is stuff like what about when the baby is moving or kicking inside them? I mean - what do they think that is??

I guess I just go by my own experience of pregnancy because I had a VERY active baby in there! I mean when she started moving there was no way it could be mistaken for anything like gas. My whole stomach moved! You could actually see the outline of her fists or feet pushing against my stomach (trying to break out lol!). My daughter was the same when she was pregnant, she would say "oh she's moving again" and you could see her stomach moving! It's stuff like that that makes me wonder how anyone could think it was a normal bodily occurrence but I suppose some babies are more subdued in the womb.

Not to be funny but it could very easily be thought of as major trapped gas..For all anyone knows maybe one's natural system is gurglie, painful etc etc...I mean without knowing a persons full medical condition or history nobody can say ya know...

That is a good question. Some horror movies leap to mind--but that can't be right. Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

There have been people who do not show symptoms, get plump but not enough to raise the question of whether they are pregnant or not. They said that the felt movement, but said they thought it was gas. This doesn't surprise me at all.

Yea it really doesnt surprise me either in all honesty..Ppl tend to forget that just because women are women does NOT mean we all function the same...Just because we have the same parts doesnt mean they behave the same ya know...

I heard about this yesterday. I have heard of a couple of women who said they were pregnant and didn't know it. At first I didn't believe it was possible. I thought it was just denial. I believe now they are telling the truth that the they didn't believe they were pregnant.

If she was fat, she could have hidden it easily with baggy clothes and slouching. A friend of mine got in a family way in high school and still lived at home with her mother. She gave birth 2 months after we graduated and moved out. Her mother didn't know where she was for 3 days until my friend came home with a baby. Mama kicked her out and my friend and the father got married. Mama didn't even know her DD was pregnant.
But in response to her not knowing, how do you miss that? How do you miss the kicking and the moving of the fetus? How do you miss your period for 9 months and not think "Golly, I might be pregnant!"

I have to agree with you. How is it possible that she did not know she was pregnant? Was she over weight to the point where she never showed? That is just crazy. I was pregnant at 16 and even if I never showed I would have known. That is just unreal.

i know it sounds crazy or even stupid but it is so very true. i am not sure what the reason is, but there are women who have been pregnant and had no idea they were until the baby was delivered. i know my mother was 7 months before she found out she was pregnant with me. crazy but so true

My ex-husband's niece did that. She just kept wearing bigger clothes. Since she was a little heavy anyway she kept it a secret for nearly the whole time. Now as for that girl not knowing she was preggers, well...unless she had irregular periods??? But let's face it--play the game, someone will score. I doubt that she did not know. I have heard of an occasional mentally challenged girl not knowing but that is rare. My oldest daughter got pregnant the year after she finished school. She kept telling everyone she was not. But she was very thin, so it became obvious quickly.

Its very possible. Ive heard quite a few stories of girls not knowing they're pregnant until they give birth. Some dont get any bigger becuase they dont know they're pregnant so they dont take care of themselves or eat more for their baby. There are actually a few stories where they dont know they're pregnant until they experience "cramps" go to the bathroom and out pops a baby. There was also another story I read about a woman who experienced cramps one day and went to the hospital and found otu she was having a baby. What happened was, the baby grew behind a muscle, therefore she didnt grow any bigger. There are many legitimate answers, I highly doubt the teenager was that oblivious to not know she was pregnant unless there was a good reason for her to not know that.

Wow I don't know how you can't know that your pregnant. I mean I have five kids and I have never not known. I mean once you hit a certain point in your pregnancy you can feel the movement and the baby kicking and all that how could you just feel sick and not know. Now here is the real question Did she state that she didn't know so that she didn't get in trouble with her mom?
Was she planning on leaving the baby somewhere and just happened to have wittnesses and so had to play dumb?
Or did she honestly still go through having a period and was really to dumb to know ? I highly doubt that this is the case. the last one. Well I wish the best for the baby and the new mom. Hopefully she takes well to parenting.

It is amazing that in today's day and age that this girl wouldn't know she was pregnant. But I can see the mother not knowing. I have a girlfriend that has a daughter that is only 15 and she gave birth to a baby and no-one, including me, knew the girl was pregnant. She is chubby and she didn't gain any weight with her pregnancy. After she gave birth the mother asked the doctor how she could not have noticed and the doctor said the girl carried the baby more in her back than in her front. The baby is doing well and she and the baby live at home with the girl's mother and the father of the baby is not involved.

I've heard some times people don't really show that they're pregnant. I'd have to see the whole situation, because sometimes people don't get big, maybe she was already big in the first place. That's got to be some crazy stuff man, a girl actually goes to work, when I think, wouldn't she be contracting? Wouldn't she be having some symptoms that she's going to have a baby? That's kind of ironic because the same day she's going to have the baby, she's at work and she didn't even have enough time to have the baby in a hospital. She must not have had any time to get to the hospital on time. What a crazy story, rite? Mom's don't always know everything, some mom's don't pay any attention. Some people are neglecting their kids, or they work so much they barely see them. She could've been hiding the whole thing, at 16 you know that there's something fishy with that, and that there's some sort of lie going around there.

I had my first child at 16. My mother did not know I was pregnant until a month before the baby came. I wore extra baggy clothes and stayed away from her when it came to doing things that would make it obvious. I was heavy but not extreme. I only gained 12 lbs. and no one figured it out. I was supposed to leave with the babies dad the week that they did find out and was glad they did. At 16, we make some pretty silly decisions, but I am glad my situation worked out. I hope this girl is ok, and finds a way to deal with things. I believe that she knew she was pregnant, probably more scared of letting people she loved know.

Yeah Right!!!!!!! I dont believe that for one minute.Does anyone else believe that story? 16 isnt really that young at all. In pioneer days, a 16 year old would be married and raising a family already.

Lots of women, especially young women, have very erratic periods; and some women have periods while they're pregnant. And there are still families that don't do a good job educating their children about their bodies & the facts of life. If she is a heavier girl, it's entirely possible that no one could see that she was pregnant either. I hope that she has a good support network to help her adjust to what must be the biggest shock of her life.

It does sound weird but it does happen. Some people really don't know if they are pregnant because you can't see it sometimes. Also sometimes women don't have the symptons which is normally for pregnant women. She probably never felt something weird.I can imagine this must be shocking for the teenager.

There are hundreds of thousands of virgin obese teenage girls out there who look pregnant with triplets. Its No Wonder their Mothers don't notice their extended abdomens hanging down,or sticking out in front. These kids will be the first generation in America's history to die younger than their Parents!

I know of someone that was pregnant but didn't tell anyone out of fear of her parents. Now this is strange but this is the way they were, she and her mother took a shower together the day before she gave birth and the mother had no idea that she was pregnant. The girl was a rather large gal so because of that, she was able to hide her pregnacy the whole 9 months and had her baby in her bed then called for help which several family members came in and then they had to summon her father from the field and he came in and she told him that it hurt "down there" and he lifted up the sheets and screemed "Good God Loretta!! You've done had a baby!!"
True story, this really happened.
