I hugged Tracy goodbye tonight

Well, it is on. We had a small family dinner tonight to say our goodbyes. Lots of laughter and lots of pictures taken and lots of tears. He Leaves early in the morning and we will not see him again until he comes back from Iraq. Thanks to all of you who have been so kindly patient with me these last few weeks and thank all of you for your prayers. I hope you will continue them on a daily basis. I found out tonight that when he leaves tomorrow he will be one of 3400 from Indiana alone. they said on the news that it is our states largest single deployment since WWII. I want to thank each and everyone of the other 3399 of them for placing themselves in harms way. God bless each and everyone of them and I have asked him to send his band of angles with them to keep their wings around them every step of the way until they bring them all home safe to the families who love them. Wanted to let all of my friends know that my Blue Star Flag is now on my front window and will stay there until he walks back through that door. God's speed my dear little boy.

May God and the Angels watch over him and give him a safe journey! He will be in my prayers. Please pm me when he arrives in Iraq so I can send him some care packages. I would love to add him to my list of troops that I can help bring a smile to their day while they are so far away from home!

Thank you so much. You will all probably get sick of hearing me but will try to keep everyone updated. He called tonight and said they were on the buses headed for Georgia. Only been gone a day and he sounded so tires. Gonna be a very long year. Hugs

hugs to you dear mom...being the history fanatic and with my interest on war, i have watched and read my fill of books. while the soldier is most often the hero in these stories, i think the family that is left behind is often forgotten...

We went through this in August '06, my son-in-law deploying to Iraq. He deployed from Ft Lee, Virginia, and we were lucky enough to be able to drive the 6 hours and spend a few days with them before he left. He returned home in Sept '07, we were all thankful for his safe return. So, I do know that we support our troops, and your son, and all the sacrifices that are not only made by him but his family. Thank you, and we will be praying for his safe return, as well as all of our troops returning safely home soon. Freedom is not Free.

Oh, hon, I'm so sorry. I can't imagine being a mom in that situation. I would be soaking up every second, remembering every line of his face, and I'm sure you did. Maybe with so many people holding you and he both up in prayer, time will be kind in the effect in has on both of you. Don't forget we love you. : )

You and your son will certainly be in my prayers until he's safely through that door. My nephew and my great-nephew both left for Afghanistan today; I guess today was the day for troops to leave from all over the country as there were several other units from our part of Pennsylvania that also left this morning, some for Iraq and some were Afghanistan. So, you're not alone in your worry and in missing someone you love very much. My poor mother-in-law, for her it's a grandson and a great-grandson (they're close to the same age). For my one sister-in-law it's her first grandson and for my nephew's wife it's her first born. For my other sister-in-law, it's her "baby". I'm not leaving the fathers out here, but you're a mom so I thought you'd understand what I mean here, I think we mothers, grams and aunts worry in a different kind of way - or maybe we just show it differently. Anyway, I'm here to chat with whenever you feel the need. God speed all our dear little boys and girls! Annie

I can't even imagine the heart ache you are feeling right now. With technology being a lot better than in the days of the past, at least you will be able to have some type of communication with him, I'm sure that has to help some. I didn't realize our state was sending out that many of them! Also what I don't understand is I thought we were bringing the troops back home, so why are this many being deployed? I stand firm in your prayer of angels with them to keep their wings around them every step of the way until they bring them all home safe.

Thanks good buddie. I am also suprise with the number being deployed. I have heard a few others say that their states also are sending out Troops. Makes me wonder what is building up sending so many and not hearing that much about pulling them out? Scary. Hugs buddie

Will keep him in my prayers...being a miliary spouse I can certainly relate! We were in Atlanta airport over the weekend and I saw hundreds of soldiers getting deployed. It was amazing and I just wanted to see all their faces for some reason, because they are all someone's son, husband, friend, dad, etc. I was glad to see everyone stand up and clap for them as they walked by.

Thanks for response. Yours has made me wonder just how many are being deployed right now. Seems like it is more of a build up then trying to end this mess. Kinda scares me.
