I hate wind storms! I really do! And this one was a doozy for sure. I've actually been up since 4AM because of the storm that hit. The wind blew so hard that it completely unrolled and tore my outside blinds making them smack against my bedroom window. Hubby actually had to rip one of them down because it was so messed up. Right about the same time the power started going off and on. That lasted for about 3 hours until it finally went out for good. The fences? What fences?! The one on the south side of us blew down first, and then the one on the north side blew down and we had to keep the dogs tied up all day until we got back from my doctor's appointment when hubby could work on it. Both fences are back up and the dogs are happily running around in spite of the wet and cold. Oh....and the tree that I mentioned in my last discussion about the storm....I worried about that one for nothing. But the neighbor's huge pine tree fell across our back fence and barely missed our boat. WHEW! Now, hopefully, the power will stay on, and the winds will stay light like they have been the last few hours. Hugs to everyone!

Nothing like a little weather to get the old adrenaline pumping!! I love it all. I guess that is why I will never leave hurricane alley. I have weathered 4 of them. One actually onboard a boat. I won't do that again. I did not plan on that one. It sneaked up on us where there was no good weather reports. The other 3 were awesome!!!
I've also had a few near misses with tornadoes. Now I have a very very high respect for those buggers. Water spouts on the other hand can be quite entertaining and you can usually get out of their path if you pay attention.
I had a close encounter with a bolt of lightening once too and that was plenty close for me too. My hair stood on end and I could smell the ozone it was so close. Yuck!!
But wind and rain I love!!

I am such the wuss that I will gladly let you keep them to yourself hon. LOL! I've been close enough to a tornado that it was whipping our car around with the tail winds. It snuck up on everyone on the highway, and it actually jumped the road right behind our car! That was a bit freaky. And I've had a close encounter with a lightening bolt myself...only an inch or two away from my nose! UGH! As for the rest, I'm happy watching them on tv. Hahaha! You are a very brave, if somewhat crazy ( I say that in the most friendly loving sense), soul my friend. Take care.

But that is what makes the world interesting. If we were all alike, you guys would not have anyone to think of as weird like you think of me right? I don't care. I know that I am a little weird, but I enjoy every second of life that I can because it is short! And we are supposed to enjoy and wonder at all things!
Enjoy! Shalom~Adoniah

Wow quite the wind storm, glad I am not there lol. I don't think there is anything I dislike more than the sound of the wind wistling around the corner of a house. So what area do you like in? Here in Canada we have been having -19 weather and snow lol, rather snow than wind lol. Hope your power stays on to. Happy new year to you and your family.

Our wind wasn't just whistling...it was downright SCREAMING! Not a pretty sound, believe me. LOL. I'm in northern California toward the upper end of the Sacramento Valley, so I'm down below the snow levels. But it's only an hour's drive to reach the snow. I'm perfectly happy where I am though, in spite of the nasty storm. Hahaha! Happy New Year to you too hon.

It must have been a gale. When I lived in Vancouver, B.C. we had them and then garden sheds started to fly over the roofs, shingles got loose, and we had a couple of large trees that were uprooted. Even the power lines broke. So I do not exactly like wind storms either, especially when they are accompanied by rain. I cannot tell you how many umbrellas I broke just by going out in the rain and suddenly the wind picked up to 50 miles or more per hour. Soaked to the skin, and all those garbage cans flying around. Luckily I did not get hit by one. Back then most of them were metal.
I do hope you made out okay and that your power did not go out.

You just described how it was here to a tee! The worst of it lasted for a day and a half. Our power was out for most of the first day, but the town where my church is didn't get power back until about 9:30 this morning. Right now, it's breezy out with rain off and on, but the wind is light, so it's not bad. It's been a long time since a storm like that hit here, and I hope it's a long time before one hits again. Thanks hon.

So happy to hear e1 weathered the storm ok even thou the fences and blinds took a beating. Sure as heck glad that tree didn't come down or you might not of had a house left. I hate when the power flickers on/off like that b4 they shut of for good. Drives me nuts, specially when it's nighttime.

Sounds like you made it through so far. Are you in the area expecting all of the blizzard conditions? Freaky weather happening in California right now. Stay safe.

I'm actually down in the valley, about an hour away from where the blizzards were happening. But my brother in law lives right at the beginning of where all the snow dropped in the mountains. Hopefully he's ok. He and hubby don't speak much, so I have to find out from my mother in law if they are ok. It was very freaky during that storm. I'm glad the worst of it is over. Thanks so much hon.

I was awake all night too!! My windows were rattling so much I thought they were gonna pop out! It calmed down this afternoon. Now it's back again, I'll be lucky to post this before the power goes out :( I'm in the Pacific NW, by the way.

I know what you mean hon. I honestly thought those blinds were going to come crashing through my bedroom window at any moment because they were hitting it so hard. The winds have been fairly calm since Saturday afternoon, so it hasn't been too bad. It's just been raining a lot, off and on. Stay safe hon.

ROFL! I was beginning to wonder if they had a reporter hiding somewhere near my house there! LOL! Other than our wooden fences falling down (and the lazy neighbor not being willing to help fix it), and the other neighbor's pine tree taking up residence in the yard, it wasn't too bad. Although now there are a couple more leaky spots in my bedroom...keeping the bowls there just in case. My in laws are going to have a lot of work ahead of them to get it all fixed. At least I'm hoping they get it fixed...I'm tired of it raining outside AND inside the house! LOL! Hugs!
