My son got electronic Monopoly for Christmas and since my Mom passed away he and his fiance have been coming to my apartment a couple of nights a week and we have been playing it. I have to admit it seems funny not having all of that paper money falling all over the place because now you use a debit card in it's place. The bankers job is a lot harder and a job I won't take on any more because I can't figure out the electronic "atm" that is used to take away and give money to the players. Everything is done in Millions or K's and nothing is worth hundrends of dollars any more. I enjoy the changes in the names of all the properties....especially the new Fenway Park and Grand Ol' Opry....Now instead of railroads they have airports and the utilities are now a cell phone and an internet company. They really brought the whole game up to date and I do enjoy it a lot.
Are you a board game player? Have you tried electronic Monopoly? Are you generally a Monopoly player? Do you have a favorite board game that you play once in awhile?

Does it take as long to play? We enjoy playing board games during the week but, we usually choose games that don't take as long to play. We love Monopoly but, it lasts way to long to play during the week. Our favorite game is Scattergories (spelling?)

It seems to take a shorter time to play than the old monopoly did. Maybe it's because there's not so much fooling around with the money....I don't know but the longest game we've had so far was only 2 hours and I remember games going on for hours and hours with the old one.

I have played Monopoly online a few times when my son won some arcade free downloads through that Macdonald promotion they had sometime ago. I prefer the board game though.

That's one way I've never played it...online. I do have it on my direct tv game lounge and we played it on there before my son got the game....he won there too!

How much does the game lounge cost to play? Do you have to have anything else installed with Diret TV for it to be available? I see the channels all the time and never called about it

I loved playing Monopoly when I was a kid. I've tried the pc version and the only thing is that I never win. It's irritating b/c I do like to win every now and then. I think my favorite was Aggrivation.

I don't have the version you described, but I have a handheld electronic Monopoly game. Each player's token has an accompanying sound effect which plays when its the player's turn. There's a "pop" sound for the top hat, barking for the dog, and horn honk for the car. Unfortunately, the speaker stopped working last year, but the game itself is still playable.
I haven't played regular board games in a long time, mainly because I live by myself and don't often have visitors.

Monopoly, wow, I haven't play monopoly for years now. I used to love to play, I wonder why I don't play anymore. I guess it's just another thing we grown out of. But I would like toplay it again. I still have the game board and I think I am going to ask the kids if they want to play this weekend when they come over. It would be fun to get into a game again. Thanks for the reminder, another thing I love about mylot, bringing back memories.

I love monopoly it is my favorite board game of all times. It would be interesting to play with an updated set. I think board games with family or friends are a lot more fun than sitting in front of a computer playing. I like Trivial Pursuit too, I can sometimes win that one with all the useless trivia I have roaming around in my head!

I used to have a bunch of different themed Monopoly games before the hurricane. The only one I have now is the Here and Now version. I think I like collecting them better than actually playing. My husband loves Monopoly but I always get bored half-way through. Monopoly is such a long game! He really wants to play taht electronic banking version.
I'd much rather try out the Electronic Life game.

I still have the original version. I played it with my siblings. Enjoyed it then. When my daughter is older I will purchase the updated version. Sounds like fun. We play scrabble and a card game called PHASE 10. It's really a fun game. Another thing we enjoy these days is SEEN IT the dvd game. We have several versions including Disney. That way even my daughter can join in

For how many years I have known Monopoly - knowing it has been around for years I still play it to this day. I've been playing it since I was 7 years old, a young always played with my sister, my mom and dad and other people. That was back then. But now I still play it with my sister, her husband and some other friends. Now here's the thing my sister is a pro Monopoly player for how many times we got whooped playing.
Then there's the computer - I too play it on there as well at times, but younger I used to get stuck for hours playing it - even then during the early 90's having an 8-bit monopoly game was fun, then when they came out with the sweet graphics it was much more addicting. I also had it on the Super Nintendo as well. I'm an ok player in the game - I wasn't the type that wanted to go after the Park Avenue or Boardwalk but I was going after pretty much properties in the middle but of course the red and yellow and green properties were the major dominators even when you start building up hotels. And the way we played is whenever we got chance or chest cards to pay taxes we put it in the middle so that whoever lands on free parking they will pick up the money - and one time there was up to $5,000 worth - lucky them. But it goes on and on.
We have the classic edition and now the New York edition of Monopoly. We heard there is a credit card edition now, which no longer you get money from the bank but added to your card - much easier to say.
Well have fun and enjoy your time with Monopoly!

I love Monopoly. We bought our 27 year old son the electronic version as well for Christmas. I have yet to play it as he seldom comes around. he says he hates being banker though now with this version. HAHAHA! I think I will miss having the physical mopney in my hands during the game.

I like playing monopoly, but i have yet to try the new electronic one! my hubby wanted to buy it, but i know what would happen, He would pay the 40$ for it and then it would sit and collect dust in the closet just like the older version we have!! I play it on the computer once in a while, i think its fun there because it generally takes less time to play, and you can walk away from it if your' playing with a computer player and come back to it when you can.

We had the game growing up as kids. I bought a new one for my children a couple years ago as the original one I had was in BAD shape after over 20 years. LOL We also have played the one online. Clayton really enjoys it. I do too but find it still isn't the same as when we were kids. I don't know if it because now it is so much faster and techo that the art of playing it for days on end, (Our dining table was off limits for two weeks straight with one game still going) just isn't there anymore.
