I'm going to the store now to buy some Gingerale for my daughters upset stomach.
When I was a kid, this is something that my mother and grandmother often did.
I think it helps.
I've used medicines for upset stomach as well, but something about the Gingerale seems to help.
It think that ginger has some medicinal value when it comes to upset stomach. I think I've read that somewhere.
I'm not sure how much ginger is actually in gingerale, but my daughter wants some now. If she thinks it will make her feel better, then I think it's worth a shot.
What do you think? What do you use for upset stomach.
Do you turn to naturual rememdies first or do you prefer to put your trust in over the counter drugs?

Hi there... When I was growing up, were always told to drink some cool boiled water, if we didnt have any eno's or andrews, which back then I thought was salty and harsh on my throat... Didnt really like that stuff, and always opted for the cool boiled water, which works, and still use it today if need be... Have a great...

I know that whenever I have a stomach ache when I was younger, I used Gingerale also. Now that I'm older, sometimes I use gingerale, sometimes peptobismol and sometimes I just lay down on my stomach on top of a pillow (for some reason, it makes my stomach feel better to have pressure applied to my stomach.)

For upset stomachs I always use kaolin and morphine which I mix with water, it has a yukky taste to it but it's not so bad in water and it works, so I don't care how yukky it is, as long as it works and does the trick which it does, and it's so cheap for a bottle too! Lasts for ages, fortunately I don't suffer with upset stomachs much, but there is always a bottle handy just in case!

I use 7-up with just a touch of salt. I put just a little 7-up in a cup and add salt. It gets fizzy and I drink it. The doctor told me to do it when my son could not keep anything down. It worked and I keep doing it.

That's a great idea of using gingerale for upset stomachs...from a medicinal point of view ginger has be known to be a great aid in any stomach problems, even chewing on pure ginger root or making a tea out of it. Another great thing too, is good ole baking soda in warm water, or seltzer...for stomach gas problems I have relied on a brew of fennel seed tea...tastes like licorice, and you can even chew on the seeds after they've "brewed" as the tea

I use ginger tablets that I buy at the health food store for heartburn, upset stomach and nausea. I used to get sick to my stomach all the time back when I worked. It was a really bad job and I went through a lot of ginger!

I remember my Mom always gave me flat ginger ale for an upset tummy. That, and dry toast. If things were really bad, she gave us Pepto Bismol, but, I took some just a few days ago, and sheesh, stopped me up for days. Gravol works well too. If you're worried about her dehydrating you can buy some pediolyte, and that will keep her fluids up. Good luck, I hope she's feeling better.

My grandmother always recommend gree tea snd a lot of rest for upset stomach. My granny does not really believe in giving over the counter medicines or even prescription medicines everytime someone in the family have upset tummy. Medicines can have some long term side effects.

My dad beieves in "lemons" for an upset stomach!
He's usually makes warm lemonade when he has an upset stomach!
In my family, we always used 7-up or sprite, they both have lemon in it!

Paste of ginger and garlic with honey is good to lose the weight and keep the stomach in working order. It is amazing for those who are suffering with blood pressure and also for those who are heart patients. This is herbal formula and it works as I tested it by myself.

I use Canada Dry which is gingerale and I also use flat coke. Because cola is supposed to be good for calming the stomach. LOL!! I also buy an over the counter nausea medicine that I get at walmart. LOL!!! Well that is about it other than riding it out or going to the hospital and getting a shot.

When we were kids, my siblings and I always drank Gingerale also. I agree with you that it works like a charm. We also used Vernors, 7-Up, and sometimes Sprite. Those seemed to work ok. I found that of the three, Vernors works the best. Of course, you can only get that up north. I don't know if they sell it anywhere else other than here in Michigan. Another thing I use more nowadays is Tums. I can feel the heartburn and upset stomach coming on after I eat and just pop a couple chewable tablets in my mouth better it gets bad. After that, I never even develop complete heartburn or an upset stomach. That does the trick for me for the most part now that I'm older. I don't drink pop/soda anymore because that does more harm than good on my stomach nowadays. The main source of my upset stomachs is my food allergies. It's a pain (literally - lol), but it's nice having my Tums handy! My friend and I love Tums so much we call them "dessert." Whenever she asks me if I want dessert, I'll never turn down my Tums!

When I have an upset stomach, I like to have some peppermint-either tea or a candy like Junior Mints that feels like it is coating your stomach. I also drink a soda called Vernors but I don't think you can get it all over the US. I think it is called the orginal ginger soda or something like that. But ginerale or sprite or 7-up or some soda like that will help, too. I do know that ginger and/or mint helps an upset stomach-well it helps mine!

For a upset stomach I use ginger ale too. I think it is the carbonated water that helps. I also go on a white diet for a day or two. No spicy foods, I would have rice or plain pasta. The medicine I use for an upset stomach is Pepto Bismol. It works real well. When ever I use it, an hour later the upset was gone and I was hungry.

I've always liked ginerale or 7-up. The actual gingerroot is supposed to be good. I have seen some doctors tell pregnant women to chew on it.

Gingerale is actually wonderful for an upset stomach. In 2001, I started taking a new medication. I was warned that when I started it, one of the side effects would be upset stomach. Sure enough, I had an upset stomach every single time I took the medicine. Gingerale worked quickly to relieve it everytime. I think that it hast to do with the bubbles also.

Ginger....ginger...ginger in any form is the best thing I know for nausea! I grate fresh ginger, soak in boiling water & sip. Presto, it works. Have used flat ginger ale, and even resorted to powdered ginger tea.

Hi miamilady! Yes, I do turn to natural remedies first before anything else. For upset stomach, I usually boil guava leaves and drink it. It does not matter whether it is cold, hot or just warm. It really helped cure and ease any discomfort I feel in my stomach. Take care and have a nice day! :)

A while back my mom bought me some ginger pills through Avon. Besides good ol gingerale, I must say that ginger supplement from Avon worked very nice and fast for an upset stomach.
