As most of you have already found out that you can not really earn that much on Yuwie if you are alone without an army of referrals, Yuwie have decided to offer random referrals to those who remain active, that is by being online at Yuwie.
Here is the message from Y Guy:
Random Referrals
Some of you have expressed concern over the fact that new users can sign up unreferred. Well, not anymore. Effective immediately, any new user that signs up unreferred will automatically be assigned to an existing member. What determines who gets this new member? There are 3 qualifications that have to be meet before we pick an account to assign the new member to:
1. You have to have been a member for more than 30 days.
2. You have to have been online in the last hour.
3. You can only receive 1 random referral per day.
The system will randomly pull a userID from all accounts that meet these 3 requirements and assign the new member to your level 1.
Things you need to know:
1. All assignments are random, you may never get a random referral.
2. These assigned members may be studs or duds. They may refer 100s of people, or they may delete their account in 10 minutes. Either way, we will not assign you a different referral.
3. You will receive a message when you receive one of these random referrals.
4. The more you're online, the better your chances are to get a random referral.
I think that this is quite nice but when I read one of the conditions that says you have to be online at the last hours, that really put me off since that is not fair to the users that are from a different time zones.
For example, if the last hour of the day for Yuwie is actually a night time at some of the other members' time zone, then definitely those members would never be online at the last hours and can never be eligible for the random referral assignment.
What do you think?

I agree with you that it is a very good thing.
I just hope it is conducted fairly.
I am on GMT + 10.
The system should cater for all members without
discrimination.

Don't laugh but I have only been able to recruit 3 people and they hardly ever use it. So I am making nothing on yuwie but I like yuwie because I have met some cool people. But I think that is stupid to have been on the site for the last hour, I agree, what does that mean? Time zones can be an issue.

Again in random referrals at yuwie, I love this way of the site to have a referral. I want to share this, Last Sunday March 2, I am whole day online at Yuwie, but i set my status online as "no" so i appear offline. I was amused and thankful that i received a random referral again, my 5th random referral and thanks again he was active this days. So it is possible that you can receive a random referral and you must be thankful if the random referral assigned to you keep active.

I got this message a few days ago from Y Guy
You have just received a new random referral. This member tried to sign up unreferred, and because you have been active on Yuwie recently, we have randomly assigned them to you. We hope this new member will be an active member of Yuwie, and your referral tree.
Since you don't know this person, they haven't been automatically added to your friend list, but here is their profile: http://www.yuwie.com/profile/?id=***** They will show up in your referral tree after the next update.
Thank you for being an active member of Yuwie.

I would love to get some random referrals on Yuwie, and I am glad that I found out about this as it is another reason for me to reconsider Yuwie. I had pretty much given up on it in favour of this place but I think I am going to give it a shot. I've been on it randomly for the last hour now sending friends requests and giving out comments. Oh, and catching up on all of the blogs I've missed.

Well, it's a social networking site like Myspace, but they pay you to use it and for having a downline of referrals, up to ten levels of people. They used to require a much higher payout but now it's down to $5. And they recently started allotting the unassigned referrals to random active members, which I think are both excellent reasons to give it a shot. So far all I've seen since joining Yuwie is it start to get better and better.

I just received one of this random referrals, this is awesome. I haven't been too active lately but I try to pop on there a couple times a day and check to see if I have any messages, or see what other people are up to. I just read about the random referral thing last night. So today I spent a little more time on Yuwie then I usually do and it paid off. I would say, just worry about staying active, and not so much the time thing. I'm sure they'll try to be fair to everyone that participates on the site regularly.

The random referral thing is very thoughtful of Yuwie. I have joined Yuwie for over 3 months, and have not got more than 1 inactive referral. As I'm never 'good' at winning random things, I do not put much hope on it anyway. Moreover, I may not be able to meet those conditions, as I cannot afford to be online all the time, and I don't know when the random awarders will shower his blessings. Congrats to those that have already benefitted or will benefit. Thank you for the information.

Thanks for the info, shakeroo! I haven't been very active lately, so I "didn't get the memo." This is great news. They might as well assign them to someone, huh? To really be successful, though, we really have to get lots of referrals on our own. OldBuddy has lots of great suggestions for that, as do some of the other "heavy hitters." Best of luck to you hear, at Yuwie, and in everything you do!

Yeah, this is nice that you can receive random referrals, becauSe of staying active and online for the last hour, and i had already receive 2 random referrals, and as far as of now the two were active for now. It may be unfair to others because of different timezones, but i have no problems with the timezone, i am most online during night time and no problem with it.

Well I hope they are fair as well, but I have not much luck with Yuwie, and have spent many hours there since the announcement and still no new referalls for me, I was suppose to get a free one during those radio give aways and it never came to pass, so for me Yuwie has not been such a great thing, except that I have met some very nice people there. So I will stay sorta active, but I am thinking my efforts will pay off better here. Plus i am enjoying this place way more. Best of luck to you.

I think you're a bit confused by the statement 'must be online in the last hour'.
I didn't read that as being online the last hour of the day, I read it as you must have been online during the last hour of when they do the random pull. Since its totally computer generated, it is no doubt run at different times throughout the day.
I already got one, and he has a referral already too. Of course neither one of them has logged on since, LOL ...

It's a good thing of course, especially for people who are having difficulty getting referrals. I have gotten 3 randoms so far and only 1 is inactive. The other two are at least somewhat active and it's more page views than I would have had without them!
