I'm relatively new here, but I think that it's great that so many people are willing to share their opinions in order to help other people out when they ask questions. I realize that sometimes people are just giving their opinions and they are not claiming to be experts in the areas. How much stock do you put in the advice that you receive here? Do you take it all as fact?

I don't think that anyone sets themselves up as an expert, but there are clearly some people that have a lot of life experience and are able to translate this into sensible actions. I think that if the advice seems sensible and does not obviously break the law of your land then why not try it.

Take p1kef1sh's advice...seen lot's of postings...and all are reasonable, and level headed. People are not here to harm, they are here to share, and you can be the judge. Cheers.

I look at it the same as if I were talking with my friends. Some of it is probably accurate and some may not be. Either way, the sharing of experiences with each other can be helpful and interesting. I wouldn't take medical advice or invest my life's savings or something major like that without checking out the advice first, of course.

I don't think people who respond to discussions see themselves as experts. They share experiences from their own life or situations that are similar. Very often you can read posts that contradict each other. It is a bit like in real life. You discuss some things with friends co-workers, siblings or parents. You get all different opinions. If you you need expert legal, medical, scientific advice you consult a professional in those fields. I think it is the same with online discussions.

I only take if if it sounds like it makes scents but other wise I read them and laugh at what some people give as advice, but every discussion that I have ever started there have been some really good advice given for everyone.

We all are here to share our thougths and ideas. Some ideas may be really utilisable and some you could try it out later. It all depends on what you want to know. Dont take all the responses you get as advices, instead you just treat them ideas from your friends. Opinions always differ. It is for the querier to choose the right thing.
