I was just wondering why some people who wear glasses choose to wear contact lenses. I myself do not wear them but I know many people that do. Glasses aren't anything out of the ordinary so why do people have to hide that they wear them by using contacts? I dont understand. And for those who do wear contacts and dont change them ever, now that kills me. i know someone who is very close to me in fact who changes her contact lenses once a month which i going to lead to very dangerous activities in the future for her. I wonder how many other people do that. I would be frightened to literally keep them on for more then a day. What do you think?

I wear contacts, I own a pair of glasses but don't use them. I don't know what I would do if I ever had to give up my contacts. My eyes are so use to them I can barely see out of my glasses. I know glasses are not weird, but they are really annoying! I have the kind that you are suppose to throw out every two weeks, and I don't do it. However since I switched to the Oasis (which I don't like) I do have to take them out every night even though I dislike doing so.

People get used to them and prefer to use contacts for personal reasons. Good luck with that though.

i wear both. i have soft contacts. i wear them 8-10 hours at a time. they are daily wear. i would not be comfortable with anything else.My contacts are also disposable. So every 2 weeks i get a new pair. it is also more hygenic that way. I also have 2 pair of glasses. I wear them after i remove my contacts. and sometimes instead of. Depends om my mood. Our eyes need oxygen too. For me it is a matter of choice.

You wear both. I didn't know there were different kinds of contacts (soft) but I was aware that some wear them 8-10 hours a day, for dailey wear. Yeah, my friend's are also disposable but she does not remove them, as odd as that mat seem. She too, has 10 supplies ready to go, but keeps them in the drawer! Your right, our eyes do definately need oxygen, plenty of it for various reasons. Thank you for taking the time to reply to my discussion blog. I did not mean to be rude in any way shap or form I was simply just curious about others. Thanks again.

hi there!
i wear contact lens..^_^
and i must say, i only wear it when it is needed.
i have two sets of it, both are colored..
all have grades, since i need some enhancement in my sight.
personally i love the colors of contacts and how it transforms the ordinary you into someone else.
i started using it at my work, since i do part time job as a singer in local bars.. i have to make an impression with my beauty too.. not just the voice^_^
when we have cosplaying or anime modeling, i am likewise going to use contact lens..
i have different colors to choose from..
i love the new breathable contact lenses..
its a new evolution, where the eyes can breath.
i love the soft breathable lenses..^_^
most lenses are used in a span for 24 hours.
the lenses i use are span of 3 months. but at the more than one month i discard them..
there are also lenses with 6 month span.. also there are lenses with one year life span..
but optometrist wont recommend longer than three months..
so its my expression, and i love it..^_^
take care mwala^_^

I believe for some people, wearing glasses somewhat gets in their way, like it falls of when they lean or bow their heads, or maybe forget them when they remove it. So they would rather use contact lenses so it will not be obtrusive in whatever they do day to day.
And for some people, it's all about looking good, a lot of people would wear contact lenses just as to change the color of their eyes, etc.
I think if your lifestyle calls for it then go ahead and switch to contact lenses if it makes life easier that way. Practicality over anything else. Fashion may come after though.

I have contacts I prefer them becuase I hate the way glasses sit on my face and how the bridge of my nose gets sore .. I only use the glassed for the computer to lessen my headaches I get from the computer otherwise I really don't need them. But I do take them out daily even though they're the contacts designed to be worn over night and for a week. I never have left my contacts in for more than one day I'm afraid I'll go to sleep they'll dry out and get stuck on my corneas. LOL so I have never done that. My other half wears them becuase they are more convienant for him and his job and he doesn't have to worry about the lenses getting scratch on glasses. He leaves his in for a month at a time and then changes the pair .. I don't know how he does it. LOL!! Have a nice day.

I have worn contacts for a good 20 yrs now. I love them and wearing glasses for any length of time makes me dizzy and gives me headaches. I lose my peripheral vision and can't stand having them on for various reasons (none of which have to do with vanity- I actually have a very nice pair that look nice on.) I will wear them only if I have removed my contacts because it is late but I am watching tv or something still that I need to see. As for my contacts I do not take them out every single night, I never have. I do change them out but not necessarily when I am *supposed* to (they're disposables.) No problems here...so far.

I think it was the trend once that wearing contact lenses are cool and glasses are not.
Now, that trend is gone and wearing glasses is quite cool lol.
For me, I prefer wearing glasses since it gives extra physical protection and I don't like to need to keep reminding myself to remove the contact lens if I have them on for more than a day or so. :P

I choose to wear contacts for various reasons. One may be vanity, yes I like the way I look without having to wear glasses. But also I like that I dont have to deal with the glare of the sun or anything like that. I have extended wear soft contacts. This means that i am allowed to leave mine in for up to 1 full month, and not take them out. I dont like to do this though because when I sleep with them they dry out sometimes. So I wear them for about 15 hours a day, and take them out all night.

hi mwala!!
Yes most of the people does this.i agree. Contact lens is not good and affect the eyes bad in future. People uses contact lens for stylish eye and also to hide it from others. glasses are tough to handle. lenses or ease of use. any how i dont have a good idea since i doesnt wear either glasses nor lens..
Thanks

All I know is that I'm totally grossed out by contact lenses. Why on earth would someone WILLINGLY insert a foreign object onto their eyeball?? EEEWWWW!!!
I am fortunate in that I don't even have to wear glasses. I could, but the prescription is so weak, I was told I need not bother.

I am nearsighted and prefer to wear contact lenses because I feel more comfortable wearing it. I enjoy a lot of sports and I don't like my sweat making my glasses slippery. Hard to swim, run or do yoga with eyeglasses. I guess it depends on the person.
I do take care of my eyes and take off my contacts every night and clean my contact lenses. Yes, it is very risky not to take off your contacts after 24 hours, more so when just cleaned once a month. I too, know a friend who's like that. I keep reminding her that regrets and "I wish I did" always come later.

I began wearing contact lenses 10 years ago. I wear them 10~12 hours a day.I dont feel uncomfortable, inversely, they took many convenience to me.For example,in winter, when i come into a warm house from cold outside, there would be a layer of water vapor on glasses.then i coudnt see anything immediately, but contact lenses not.additionally,i think it's very convenient to have sports wearing contact lenses.

I was in grade 8 when the school finally realized I couldn't read the board. Since then I have had glasses. I tried contact lenses once and hated them. I did it because back then I was active in sports and glasses aren't great for playing sports and swimming. By about one o clock my eyes would get really dry and I couldn't wait to take them out at night and put on my specs. Maybe contacts have improved in the last 20 years but I'm not going to find out myself! Beside that they have some really great frames out these days and they are kind of a fashion statement.
