I love scanning things. We used to have a scanner...it got broke in a move...and I used to scan photos, books, cookbooks, cross stitch charts, you name it. I have alot of my pics scanned and saved to a disc in my fire safe so I don't have to ever worry about losing them plus if I want to share them with other family members I can. We're planning on getting another scanner when we can and I'd love to be able to scan alot of the really old pics that my Mom and Grandmother have but they can't leave thier house LOL So do you have a scanner? What kind and is it a good one? What types of things do you scan and why? Over the last few years I've seen alot of these storage rental places cropping up around town. We now have like 7 of them here. I've never rented one but my Mom has. When my Grandmother had her stroke and came to live with them alot of my Grandmother's stuff went into 2 of these sheds. It's been in there about 4 years now. Another friend of mine has one that he put all of his stuff into b/c he was moving around alot and didn't want to haul it. It's been in there since about Halloween last year. So, do you use them? What goodies do you keep in them? Do you think it's worth it? Or would you be further ahead to just get rid of the stuff? What about the ppl who don't pay...they lose all thier stuff...could you afford to lose all of yours if you forgot to pay? **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I have a scanner and printer ..but its not on the go at the mo Twoey..i recently had to have a new computer and i was lucky enough to be treated to one ..by my son...well the new pc has windows vista..the old one that conked it had windows xp...and when i ran the installation disc on the new one..i was really annoyed when it said that the printer was incompatible to run with windows vista....it wasnt too long since i had bought it..so that makes it worse!!!....i miss mine too..i used to scan quite a bit.....and photos etc..but i will have to wait until the money tree bears till i get a new one.The storage places are cropping up well around here too...on the outskirts of erby they have just set up a fairly new one...and as you pass by you can see the rooms..all padlocked..and we said only the other day..i wonder what people keep in them!!!!

I loved creating cool things for scrap-booking using a scanner.I saw how to do that on a show. It was really fun.

Yes scanners are very good stuff. scanners have indeed helped people to save much storage by converting hard copies of bulk documents into soft copies that can fit in a CD. More often the soft copies of pictures and photographs are much attractive than their hard copy counterparts. With soft copies, it is much easier to share documents among friends.

My partner got a multifunction center for his birthday. Haven't used the scanner yet, but it photocopies and prints too, which is what we use the most any way.

I don't have a scanner and I am not quite sure how they even work. I would like one since it seems most people have them and talk about them all the time, and how wonderful they are to have. I know they are like a copy machine only they are set up to your computer and it's a way to put pictures of things on your computer. Another reason I would like to get one is, there are sites out there that pay you to eat at restaurants and do a survey about the restaurant. But you need to scan your receipt and send it to them, so you get reinbursed for the cost of the meal as well as being paid for participating in the survey. I would like to do this, I think it would be fun.

We have a Lexmark printer/fax/scanner. It is a 6150 model, we have never had any problems. We also have a photo HP7660 photo printer. We upload pictures from our camera to the pc and then print either 4by6 or 8by11 pictures whenever we want.

Scanner - My Mustek 1200 UB Scanner
I love my scanner, have had it for years and couldn't do without it. It's a Mustek 1200 UB Plus and came free with a PC I bought 6 ot 7 years ago. Have changed PC twice since then but kept the scanner. I am crazy about photography and have nearly 10,000 digital photos I've taken in the last 5 years or so, prior to that I had a "regular" camera for years and I have scanned pretty much all of my photos and put them into albums online and have stored them on CDs too. They are safe forever now as I have them backed up in several places LOL! I also use my scanner to scan things like insurance certificates and passport, driving license, etc. I think I will have to upgrade one of these days to a newer model which scans at higher resolution as this one isn't as good as the Canon one I have at work :)

We do have a scanner - it is a laser printer, scanner and copier in one (only black and white mind you) but my partner has to set it up on his pc and needs to set it up properly again - we have discs of all our photos stored in different houses , like my Grans and his mums - just to be on the safe side! lol As for storage rental - they are not so big here - the nearest one I know of is over 30 miles away in the middle of Glasgow and I only know about that because I passed it on my way to and from the hospital where I had my surgery and check ups! xxx

Well, I am hoping to get an "upgrade" and get a Nikon Coolscan eventually as it's designed ONLY to scan film and slides and quite pricey. The scanner I have isn't bad but I can see how the Nikon one might give me better quality scans of my film/slides and is THE choice of pro photographers, but when I had the funds, last year and could get my computer and scanner NO ONE had it...like what? Was there a run for film scanners all of a sudden Anyway, my scanner is a good one, a i800 Microtek and it was almost as expensive as The Nikon one (about $500)...it can scan anything...art, photo prints, negatives and slides...what made it so expensive was that it came with Photoshop software and "Digital Ice" which is supposed to correct flaws in photos. I naturally mainly use my scanner for my photo work

i have a scanner but do't use it much because it is not really that great of one, it is also a huge pain to use because i only have one usb cable so i always have to switch it...but it does come in handy when I need to copy things & don't have the time to go somewhere else to copy it.

Yeah we have a all in one printer with the scanner (duh LOL). I used it a lot before I got my digital camera. I'd scan my pictures in for emailing and uploading to myspace or what have you. I like it to that it's a copier because that comes in handy at times too. But our scanner really isn't a great one. I was a cheapo. The pictures look good on the computer but doing to print them the quality is substantially less than the original print. I wouldn't mind having a better one but I couldn't justify it so much now that I have a digital camera.

We have a few scanners, as most of my ccomputer printers are all-in-ones, but sometimes I find it easier just to take a picture of something with the digital camera and upload it than to wait for the printer to scan. It is faster for things where great resolution is not a big issue.

I do have a scanner, it's an older one, but haven't used it in a very long time. I don't even know if it is currently hooked up to my pc. Though it is sitting on the desk. I think you could have started two seperate discussions on this since you started one on storage here too! I never have used storage. I think it is a waste of money. By the time you keep paying for the rental fees, you could have bought new items for what you had in storage especially if it was furniture and such.

We had an expensive cannon scanner that worked really well up until about a year ago, so I can't scan anymore..When we did have a scanner, I would scan all kinds of things and still have some awesome pictures from when it was still working..:)

I have a scanner. It is a brother LC-51. I think it's good, but I'm pretty inept. There are tons of features on it that I don't use. Only scan to file I've had success with. That's the easiest one. I think two of your topics got blended into one here, how did that happen? Take care

We have an eperson scanner and we love it. I use it to scan just about anything from pictures to cross stitching patterns so I can blow it up to see it better to copying things. My husband has one that does just about anything but talk to him. lol
