Cooking Shows?

My middle son had turned me on to watching cooking shows. he would watch them all the time. And I might add at 18 years old, he can cook some pretty good meals. I started off with watching Emeril, and then Rachel Ray. I still watch Emeril from time to time, but Rachel Ray, well some of her stories started irrating me. Now I seem to be hooked on Paula Deen. Mainly cause she is so down to earth and family oriented. Do you watch cooking shows? Which ones? And which is your favorite?

I love watching cooking shows. Because cooking is one of my interests. Jamie At Home and other shows are great to have a look.

Thank you for your response julyteen. There is nothing wrong with you watching cooking shows and collecting cookbooks, etc. There is also nothing wrong with you wanting someone special to cook you a special meal. The sweetest gesture though would be for you to learn so you can cook her something special. Or even cook something special together.

I started to get irritated with Rachel Ray too. She has had so many different shows and it seems like she's on all the time. I really like Paula Deen too..she's a hoot. I also like Ace of Cakes...they make some incredible and wacky specialty cakes. Sometimes I watch Barefoot Contessa but they show reruns too often.

I too like watching Ace of Cakes, I think Doff is a riot. Anyone who is that creative gets a gold star in my book.

I also watch the cooking shows based on the talents and their absilities to do certain things. I never have taken a recipe from any of them, but some of the time they do give me ideas.

Thank you for your response jhl930. Yes, Emeril does have a tendancy to get a bit excited over things. he cleared stated himself, he shouts "BAM" to keep his audience awake.

Ok, I have a curious mind, so will ask. What do you believe to be fake? The people on the cooking shows? The food they cook?

i love to Rachel Ray and Paula Dean. They both love to eat what they cook, and they don't dish up tiny portion that would only feed a bird. I watch Emeril sometimes just depends on what he is cooking.

Exactly lightning, anyone who can eat their own cooking, I would try it to.

I watch them if I'm flipping through channels and one of them catches my eye. Emeril was probably one of the first good ones (if you don't count Julia Child and those from days gone by). Rachel Ray bugs the crap outa me, she is just so irritating sometimes, her and her 'EVOO' I LOVE Paula Deen! She is a wonderful, simple cook and I love watching what she can do. Have you read the story of how she got started with cooking? She's a true rags to riches story and a great inspiration, and she's never forgotten her humble beginnings.

I remember the first cooking show I ever watched long long ago was Justin Wilson(shows my true age). *laughing* I was trying to be nice about Rachel Ray. I think what irrated me about her was her own little names for stuff, such as "stoop"(The combination between a stew and soup). And then that laugh. Yes, I have read the story of Paula Deen, along with watching some of her "family" prgograms with her husband and sons. I do admire the woman.
