Do You Watch Scary Movies Even Though They Freak You Out?

For years. actually since I was a kid I have loved to watch scary movies. I don't think I have ever watched a movie like that without covering my eyes through parts of it. Then lots of times I end up getting really uneasy for the next few days. Once when I was like 16 I saw the Exorcist for the first time and wouldn't be in the house by myself for like a month. My family and friends always ask me why I watch them if they freak me out so much. And I tell them that I just think it's fun to be scared once in a while even if I end up peeking at parts between my fingers that are covering my eyes. Does anyone else do this? Does anyone think it's fun to have a good scare once in a while?

Sure I do lol.
Though horror movies aren't really my favorite genres, I find them okay.
If there is a decent movie coming up in the theaters, I will go for it too.
What's life without some good scares? :P

I understand what you mean about the world itself being scary, but I still like the scary movies just for fun. I am not really phased by the bad stuff on the news. Don't get me wring I care that people are getting hurt and killed by people that are crazy, but I think movies are fun for me because I know they're not real.~D

I am not much of a horror movie person and often don't watch too many scarey movies. The first one I saw was the Omen and that scared the life out of me. I even had nightmares for a few days!

Oh, yes definitely!Since I was still a kid, horror movies were my favorites. Even if they keep me awake at nights, still I watch them bravely! And like you, I just cover my eyes when the suspense is just too much for me.
I think the movie that truly creeped me out to the core was The Ring(Japanese Version). When I first saw the movie trailer, I was having second thoughts if I should go and watch it. Because the trailer itself, was already scary. But then, being a true blooded horror movie fan, I still went and see it.
And because of that, I spent a week of being paranoid that the ghost of the movie will come and get me!

lol! It didn't help that we had a big tv facing our bed. My husband and I sleep with the lights off. But after seeing The Ring, I always left the light on. Even if my husband complained about it.
What truly freaked me out of that movie was Sadako's eye! There were nights that when I close my eyes, I could see hers!I even found myself counting the days since watching that movie. And when the seventh day came, I was totally restless!
Now,that movie was the only one that gave me the fright of my life. To think that I was so scared that Sadako might come out of our TV and crawl right towards me!!!
Did I mention that I have an over active imagination sometimes?!lol

i always loved scary movies, the scarier the better, but don't give me slasher movies like halloween I think they are garbage.
I still watch horror films but they have to be good quality to keep my interest going,
I love the omen and the exorcist series

I guess I differ a little from you winterose. I really liked the original Halloween and the remake as well. Maybe it's because that's what I grew up with . I also really like all the Nightmare on Elm Street movies too, but they were popular when I was in High school.

Hi dfinster, it is too dreadful to watch scary movies in the theater, as the sound system there makes the horrible atmosphere much much scrarier. Worse still the fearful scene of the movie would always appear in my mind, whenever I am alone during nighttime. So I always try not to watch any scary movies.

I try not to watch movies that would really scare me. Movies are supposed to be entertainment and I don't see the fun in getting scared.

I love scary movies but, I am finding that I am getting a lower and lower tolerance for them. They scare me more than they used to. Or, maybe it is because things look more and more realistic than they used to. Now, I find myself wishing that the movie would just end.
The most terrifying movies that I have seen recently were/are Hostel and the Saw movies.
We saw Cloverfield and I loved it. It did terrify me but, not as much as the Saw movies and Hostel. I hated them, at the same time...they were right up my alley because I love the rush of being terrified!

i always look for a good scare , for me it has to be a great scary flim only thing is i dont get scared , i do it for laughs , sometimes i look around the audience and look at other peoples face to see their reaction , sometimes i see couples on dates and the "tough guy" act likes he's big and strong showing off for his women and all and when a scray moment comes about he's the one covering his face or screaming like a girl ...that is classic lol

I love a good scary movie every now and then. Some really freak me out like The Exorcist. I can't watch that without feeling a little oogie. My favorite has to be The Shining. Jack Nicholson really raises the EEK factor in that. :)

I love watching them gets the heart rate going, i also cover my hands on bits that i think will make me jump but sometimes i do miss it and it's funny to be scared.
It does not bother me after i've watched it unless i've watched it late at night, then i get bad dreams. But i know it's not real so then i'm ok.
What is the scariest film that you have watched???

When I was a kid and young adult I would love to watch scary movies. I watched them all the time. I would try to get my younger sister to watch them. She hated it. But about the time I became a mother (around 25 years old) I stopped watching them. They never bothered me when I was young, but now they scare me too much. And I don't watch them.

yes i would like to watch scary movies. i watch it in a suspence mood if the moovie is going on tv i do one thing,do you know what it is? i will tell you in the last first, i am going to tell how i watch it. I shall always be in terrible moode. I knows that what going is blunder but i like to watch it to exist in a terrible mood for some time. After watching it some time I act like a brave man, mostly it happens in night time ,when i was alone watching it. you don't want to know how i act like a brave man . Because my bed room and tv room are seperate each other, after watching the film i alone walk to my room for sleeping,is it not a brave action. and answer to the first question, if the moovey scenes are going in a horror situations i just change the channel after some time a peeps to know is it over. If it is over i just sit there and relaxily watch the film. But i cann't avoid the habit of watching the horror film.
