You get up one morning, you fix yourself a cup of coffee, juice, tea or whatever it is you might like. You find your glasses and saunter over to your computer and push the "power on" button. The computer powers up as it should and you run your mouse over to your browser and what is this? "What do you mean I can't connect to the internet?" You try repeatedly, cursing and swearing, breaking out in a sweat. You know darn well you paid your bill. "Well, I think I paid my bill!" You begin to panic. So you get on the telephone with your internet service provider, wait through all the prompts, push all the required keys on the phone pad and you wait for what seems an eternity. Finally a harassed operator comes on the line, who explains to you that its not just you, there will no no internet service for at least a week. Some kind of disaster has happened and there is NO internet. In disbelief you hang up the phone and it slowly sinks in. What are you going to do now?

Well I guess I would do more housework, even though I'm kinda good on that. I'd get more into my books or Watch tv, and if it was summer I would do something outdoors with the babe. But I'd probally cry because my computer is my toy!

Yeah, remember those times we went walking in the park together before you had the baby! You didn't like me too much then, because I made you walk.

I do just love fantasy stories. The thing is that of course of what you speak could never happen. I mean......".What's that, no internet. Switch it off and then back on again. Still nothing. Is the cable plugged in. No the one by the phone. Tap that box. GENTLY. Phone the ISP then. Wouldn't you know, a premium number. They get you all ways. Oh goody, music. They're playing the Sting. Scott Joplin, oh you're too young. How long. A week! What are they doing? I pay good money for this. Where's the service. Oh, gremlins on the line. An infestation of FISH, on a telephone line? You'll send me an e mail when it's back on again. But how will I know. Oh, a musical e mail. Keep trying. Yes thank you. I am sorry to have bothered you. Yes, I am sure that you are working very hard for us. Sorry again. I'll buy a book shall I - to read while I wait for you to switch me on again. Dummies Guide to the Internet. That would be a good choice. It's got all that I need to know has it. Thank you. Bye Bye".

Ha ha ha. A few weeks ago I tried to connect to the internet and this happened for the first time ever. I was distraught. Not only did I have to wait hours but I spent ages trying to fix my wireless that was not broken before thinking to phone them. Apparently they had had a virus which to be honest was not too calming on me cos if they had a virus then I kind of firgured there was a risk we could all get a virus. I would definately have to read, I love reading but do you know that way when you can't connect to the internet then it is the only thing that occupies your mind. I think I really am addicted.

I'd just get it through a different company. I need it because my items sell every day on ebay. I would be up the creek without the internet. I know how much I depend on it.

I guess I should have been more clear. I meant no internet through any company at all. What would you do for a week if you had no internet access period?

Lol....been there done that. Yes, I go through withdrawal until my internet comes back. Now that I think about it it hasn't happened in a long time but I have gone through exactly what you mentioned. I end up watching tv and checking my pc every 5 minutes until it comes back on.

This is one of those times, I wish I could go back and edit my discussion, because what I meant was what if there was NO internet, through any company.

lol....isn't it funny how so many people don't get what you're trying to say? Probably because they have never experienced it!

And I thought I would go crazy when I had to do with out the internet for a day. I had my computer cleaned up and we decided to put in a wireless for my granddaughter. we had to put in a different connection and then we couldn't get the internet connected again. Forgot the password for the carrier. It was too late to call and I had to wait until the next afternoon. So I did some deep cleaning and then when we got back on it was like now I can get the computer work done. My grandson plays video game in line and now we can't both do this at the same time with the wireless set up.

I had problems with getting on the internet not too long ago and usually its something that can be handled over the phone. When they told me I'd actually have to wait for someone to come out I thought I'd go balistic. LOL. It took them 3 days, oh was I ticked.

Now time to have breakfast, after that looking for some DVD that I can watch when I don't have internet connection, or I might bake a cake; or do something that long time I did not do; or I might read a book. Many things to complete that I did not complete when I have internet connection. So it is the chance for me to finish all things.

i might scream at first kind of like the lady picture but i would get over it and find something else to do. right now i have 150 easter eggs that need to be filled but the only time to do it is when the kids are sleeping and now when the are asleep i am on here. so i could get that done then i would probly check the computer about 10 times a day just to check and see if it was working. or i would bake i love to bake but don't do it much cuz we don't need it. i would find something to do i am sure but don't want to find out.lol

Oh No! No internet for a week?! I wouldn't like that at all! It might sound crazy, but some of my best friends are online friends, without internet I could not talk to them and that would make me sad. I don't like to let anything get me down for to long though. I guess I would spend that week reading a good novel, working on my fanfics that I write and go for a few more walks or something. Especially the walks, I love a nice leisurely walk.

My internet has gone down before & my computer monitor blew a few months ago. I just sat on my couch like a zombie & pouted!. I eventually... reluctantly turned on the T.V. Every once in awhile I'd come test out the connection, etc. again. I felt soooo lost! It's crazy isn't it?! I felt so disconnected. It's hard to imagine what we used to do without it, doesn't it?

You have just described my situation. I also feel the same way as I live in a remote kind of pace and only four houses have net connection here. Only thing is customer service is too good the Incharge calls us up and tells us why server is down. Still its really frustrating. Not to be able to get online as I always feel cut off from the rest of the world.

Well back to writing my novel, or doing something else. We have that happen to us, but it is usually a few hours, but the last couple of weeks, our cable company was going to upgrade both our internet and our cable connection and it would only be for a few hours, but then it went into the next day. We had sporadic connections and I wanted to do some financial transfers, so I had to wait. Finally on Monday, they got it finished, but all that week I was worried and had some of my discussions stopped in mid air.

Well I can't say that has ever happened to me. I have had trouble getting in because the internet is too busy, or so it has told me, but to be offline for a whole week, that would be devasting for me. Since I don't have a job outside of my home, I work on the internet every day and I don't know what I would do with myself without it. I guess I could do some extra cleaning at home, but that would not be very exciting and I would still miss my computer. When I was in the process of moving I didn't have my computer hooked up so I went over to my brothers house everyday to use his computer. It was awful not having my own, so if it went down for every one and I didn't have access to the internet, wow, I really don't know what I would do with myself to occupy my self.

good question Think I would scream as I use my computer all day. I would really really miss it but then I suppose eventually I would get hold of myself and read that book I wanted to finish or if it was after working hours call my friend Nelda and cry on her shoulder but come to think of it she would not be working if computers were shut down and she could really need some solace. maybe we would get together and cry on each others shoulders lol

Ohhhh you just described my worst nightmare!! As well as my husbands and childrens worst nightmares as well. The internet is my connection to the outside world, my friend, my sanity and my livelyhood. If mamma has no internet nobody in the house would be happy!! My family would probably tranquilize me for the week or have me committed. Sad, I know. But true!!
