I wonder where it all goes. It seems like if we are all losing it then somewhere there should be a huge supply of it. I guess they could be stealing our flatwear and selling it to other people so that no one finds them out.

I thought that I was the ONLY one with this problem. I have lost SO much that I only buy the plastic stuff now. When my kids were little they would be found outside, in the trash, in thier rooms, under the beds, well I still find this stuff the same places and they are teens now! I can't afford to keep buy silverware, so the kids and hubby complain about the plastic and I told them that if my regular stuff would stop wondering away, then they would have something to eat with. I also had a time when my plates and bowls wandered away also. So, they have stryofoam and I make them wash them! They get so mad, but I am mad also!

lol. so i have years of this left cuz my kids are only 7,3,1. if it wasn't for the dollars store i would be able to replace it either. i just bought 3 packs of 6 spoons and 2 packs of 6 forks. so lets see how long they last.

I thought this was just a problem with "SOCKS." Do you use paper plates? I think kids may throw their plates away, forgetting they have a real utensil and throw them away too, not thinking! That's my guess!

Are you the only person in the house or there are people living with you? I am very careful with my things and I very seldom lose or misplace a thing. When I hired a housekeeper, I began losing my silverware, one by one until all are gone. I found out that my housekeeper is unmindful of her task and is very forgetful. She always misplaces things and can't recall where she has placed it. Now, I only put out a few sets so that I can always check if it's complete.

yes i have a husband and 3 kids. either one of them is hiding them on me or they are getting put in the trash. if it was summer i would be looking outside to see if my boys had them in the dirt.

Well, I had the same problem too. My forks and spoons seemed to decrease day after day. Do you have children? I soon found out that my 4yr old son had been playing them as toys. After thorough 'interrogation', my elder kids later confessed that they just threw the utensils away out of laziness to wash them.

We tend to find teaspoons at the bottom of the bowl after washing them. However, we seem to have more of a problem with knives. We buy cutlery sets with the same number of each item in it but somehow there appear to be less knives. I even bought my toddler a cutlery set with a knife, fork and spoon and I don't remember the last time I saw the knife from it!

oh boy do I also have this problem! I now have all mismatched utensils because almost all of the monogramed ones my father purchased for me as a wedding gift have taken off - somewhere. those were nice weighty ones too, I really liked them. I dont know what happens to them all but at least some of them have been found outside :( in the soil. grief kids, we have garden tools for that!

I have never had this problem. My son does not even throw away plastic utensils. He puts them in the sink. Most of the time I wash them and he uses them again at least one other time.

Oh my Gosh you too? I am missing a bunch of spoons, I thought I was going nuts. But to find out my 16 month old was getting a hold of them and either tossing them or hiding them, lol.

Not looking forward to dealing with my own little spoon thief. Shes ony 8 months old and can't reach the drawer yet, lol. I would make the spoon bandits use plastic utensils until you can get them to stop taking off with your flatware. Walmart is a great place to find cheap flatware if you don't want to use plastic.

I am always after my 1 year old to get out of the dishwasher. she has to have a spoon for everything. You give her a bowl of pretzels and she needs a spoon. I keep finding spoons in several spots in the house. Luckly I bought them some of there own special spoons They love the zoo pals spoons forks and knifes. that is usually what she gets. I always look cause of course i hear her open the dish washer and if she gets a metal spoon or fork then i take it and have her get one of her own spoons or forks. I also have the problem with socks. I don't know what the sock monster does with all the socks but if anybody catches him tell him I want my socks back. LOL
