Odd Pizza Toppings

A recent discussion talked about pizza not being pizza anymore and it prompted me to start this. What type of pizza toppings do you NOT like or think are just plain weird? Now I've tried lots of different things on pizza before and some were good, some were so-so and I ate it but wouldn't necessarily try it again. My husband and I were at CiCi's a week or so ago and I saw macaroni and cheese pizza for the first time. It didn't look very appetizing to me so I passed it up, but Tom took a piece. He ate it, but gave it one of his 'never again' looks. I'm sorry, but there are just some things that should be left alone and not put on top of pizza just because you can - macaroni and cheese is one of them. How's about you?

Well, for me, I think putting fruit on pizza is just plain wrong. If you wanting to eat healthy eating fruit on pizza loaded with tomato sauce and cheese isn't the way to go.. My personal opinion. Now my husband always makes a face when he sees seafood pizza. He and I agree Seafood is best eating by itself.

Well, the first time I tried the Hawian Pizza I was at work in DC and thought it was unusal too. But I bit into it and to my surprise it was pretty darn tasty. Or was it the mid-day office hunger playing a trick with my taste buds. I haven't yet order one personaly

At our takeaway they do a doner meat pizza, at first I thought it sounded disgusting, but when my son decided to try it one time I had a slice and its lovely. Now usually I cant eat doner meat because it comes back for another visit a few hours after, it repeats on me awful. But for some reason I can eat this and not have a problem! They also have a pizza on their menu that is garlic kiev pizza, but I cannot bring myself to try that one I dont know why, its probably lovely. But I would not have tried macaroni and cheese pizza, I just cannot imagine that at all.

doner is a mixture of meats, lamb and beef, herbs and spices, I think thats all pressed together and then roasted on a big stick, and then it is just sliced off when someone wants some.

There's no way I would try pickled egg pizza, because I wouldn't try a pickled egg on its own. Yuck!

I have never had anchovies, but I have no desire to. I am pretty tolerant with my pizza toppings, but those are a big no no for me. I also refuse to eat green peppers in general let alone on my pizza. To me shrimp has no business being on a pizza either.

I cook with onion and pepper, but don't like to actually eat it, so no peppers for me either. I love shrimp in just about any form, but I don't think the flavor would stand out on pizza. I might scrape it off and eat it by itself, though. :)

Ohhhh, I love CiCi's Pizza but there aren't any around here where we live in the San Francisco area. We used to go there when we lived in Virginia Beach. I did try their Mac & Cheese pizza and it was actually very good at the CiCi's we went to! They made great pizzas there... I think they just had a wonderful cook! As far as what kind of toppings I do NOT like on Pizza... I'd have to say sardines! No thank you to any kind of fish on pizza... ewwww!

Maybe it was because of the way the mac n cheese looked, I don't know. I personally don't like mac n cheese when its cooked too long and its really fat, like you see most mac n cheese and macaroni salad on the buffet, etc. I cook my macaroni, but not until it triples in size and is all mushy.

Maccaroni on pizza! There's a heart clogger. I totaly agree about the fish, any seafood in general dosen't belong on a pizza.

I can do without the peppers, onions and olives. I love all kinds of meat and mushroom on mine. And yes, I do like the ham and pineapple. Maybe it's because I spent 3 yrs in Hawaii.

No weird pizza eaters here. I like alot of vegies on mine. My husband and children like alot of meat. so they love it when I make pizza at home. I make my dough from scratch and load it down for them.

Some are pretty strange and/or awful...cheeseburger, chicken alfredo, bbq chicken... The worst I've had was a frutti di mare pizza in Italy. It had octopus tentacles, squid, and fish...yikes

Oh that sounds gross! I wouldn't eat octopus or squid by itself let alone on pizza. And fish? Fish is fine by itself but leave it off the pizza. :)

well the other day our office treated us for pizza on the floor... We got the pizza from Yellow cab. This pizza is really delicious and very tasting but they had this seafood pizza with shrimp..I didn't like it. Seafood on pizza is just not an IT to me. It's not very good. I also don't like those pizza that has less toppings and mostly cheese on them like from another pizza place i forgot the name..I love shakey's pizza and pizza hut they always serve the best pizza ever.:)

I like fruit on my pizza, specially pineapple, but willing to eat applesauce also. My daughter can't eat tomato products and the pizza would be quite dry. I put on blueberries, blackberries and ham on yesterdays pizza. This may sound strange, but she can't eat cheese, so I'm always looking for food that tastes good together. Foods I don't like that many people put on pizza are mushrooms, olives, bell peppers, pepperoni, and fish. That phrase in a famous movie "Fish are our friends" applies in my house. We don't eat any kind of fish.

Good Morning! I tried macaroni and cheese topped pizza the last time my family and I ate at CiCi's and I'll have to admit that is the strangest topping that I have ever had. It was okay but I don't think I would ever want it again myself. I don't like black olives and I would never eat a pizza that had anchovies on it. As far as the other toppings I haven't had anything else too bad so far. Great discussion! SheliaLee

I honestly don't think any fruit other than pineapple belongs on a pizza and even pineapple i don't like. Dessert pizzas are different they don't have meat on them at all so fruit on them is ok. To me anchovies, chicken, olives all don't belong on pizza either. All i figure belongs on pizza is: pizza sauce, ham, pepperoni, mushrooms, green peppers, onions and cheese. Sausage and Bacon are also acceptable. Anything else on the pizza causes me to turn up my nose or pick it off. SHRIMP or any shellfish absolutely do not belong on any pizza for me. I'm anaphylactic to shellfish.

I kind of find it strange that chicken goes on pizza. And pineapple. But I don't judge those who eat it because I've never tasted either.

We once went to Denmark and they had tuna and shrimp on their pizza! Gross! In Holland they put a fried egg on top of our spaghetti! To each his own, I guess!

We went to our local pizzeria when we moved to our new town and read the menu. We could not believe what we saw. Saurkraut pizza. That's right, saurkraut on a pizza. The pizzeria which is also a buffet had one available and we tried it. One bite. That is all it took. Yuck! It was nasty. For my taste it was. There were other people actually enjoying it. For me give me my roast beef pizza with ranch dressing for sauce and I am perfectly happy.

I'm not saying that it's wrong or anything, but there are some toppings that I just am not attracted too! Just like some of the toppings I like that other people think are gross! Toppings that I am not interested in are= vegetable toppings, pineapple only toppings,I don't even like plain cheese topping by itself, spinach on a pizza! The toppings that I do like are= the supreme, and all of the meat toppings, and the anchovies(which a lot of people don't like)!

I am a fierce advocate of salty stuff ONLY on the top of a pizza but I have the "pleasure" of living in a place where dessert pizza was invented a couple of years ago. Can you imagine blueberry jam on your pizza crust?!

I don't think I could handle a macaroni and cheese pizza. I had some kind of potato pizza once that wasn't too bad. It was thin sliced potatoes and had bacon and cheese on it. It didn't have a ton of flavor, but it was edible. My family is addicted to mased potatoes and I saw mashed potato pizza on a menu once and tried it. It was just plain weird. The whole pizza was soft and mushy which made it seem like it wasn't even pizza. It had a loittle bit of cheese on it and they gave you sour cream on the side. Never again. I started making chicken ranch pizzas and buffalo chicken pizzas and the whole family loves them. That's about as adventurous as we dare to get with dinner pizzas. We do love breakfast pizzas too with scrambled eggs, sausage, cheese and bacon.
