I was watching the news this morning...There was this aldy that worked at a thift store..She going through some donated things and found $30,000 in several envelopes..She tracked down the owners and gave it back...The donated items belong to a 80 year old lady that had passed away and her family donated the boxed items...The lady did receive a reward....
So what would you do if you found the money?....I would probably try to find the owner but who knows...I not that lucky...

I would have done the same thing, no joke... I don't have the guts to spend money that is not suppose to be mine. Besides we're not really struggling financially so I know that if I am in that situation I would look for the owner too.

i am going to be totally honest and say i would have kept it. i would have kept it and did something really good with that money like a downpayment on a house for my family. maybe even donoated some. but i doubt if i would have tracked anyone down to give it back.

I think so too. I think my rewards will come in the end actually. I just don't think they will come at the time that I really need them in my real life though.

I will try my best to locate or find the owner. My first impression on the owner is that she must be a generous person because she donates her things...therefore she's a good person. And the envelopes...you said the money is placed in several envelopes. I would think that it is placed in several envelopes because that money is dedicated for a certain purpose because I do put money in the separate envelopes when I want to budget my money or I want to separate or save some money for a particular purpose. Thinking of how big that money is...the person must have saved it for a very long time. It gives me more reason to return it to the owner.

I would have returned it, even if there were no rewards. Now that has never happened to me. Now I did find something someone misplaced or lost, but they were usually something that was not that valuable or a dime or penny on a sidewalk that I had no idea who dropped it. I am also waiting for that gift from that proverbial rich uncle. It has not happened yet.

Honestly, since I'm not that lucky to find such money (and that's $30,000 in there), I might just keep the money. Firstly, I am in need of money for college matriculation. Another thing is, that when I have such money, I have the power to buy anything I want, and that's exactly what I really want right now. So, if I had the privilege to find an envelope like that, then, I would instantly take care of it. Yeah, I'm honest.

Of course she did the right thing, queen, and she was rewarded for her honesty. Anytime we are presented with such a situation where the true owners can be readily identified we should do what is right and honest.

First of all...I don't think that is a bridge that I will ever have to cross! I have lots of luck...but it's all bad.
But now, in all sincerity..I would fantasize .. but I would be forced, screaming and hollering (in my mind) to return it. I know that my conscious would BEAT me up badly, if I didn't give it back to it's rightful source.
Cheers, my dear.

It depends since the box and stuff in had a name and it was donated items. Yea, I would track down the person that donated that stuff and return the money. If it was a wallet with 30,000 and the wallet had id in it I still would return the wallet to the police.
But a smaller amount of money laying on the ground or whatever I would keep it since it wasn't with anything and money don't have a name on it.

I think keeping a few tens of dollars would be easier to do than to keep $30,000. O know if I had found $20 I would have kept it but $30,000... I would keep wondering... "What if they really need it?"
It could have been someone's life savings. So I would have a hard time clearing my conscience.

It would be hard to hand it over...but then you have to think about the guilt you may feel if you keep it....

if it was a smaller sum id keep it, like 20 bucks or something, but 30k, you have to give that back, it could have been someones life savings or something, you could end up totally screwing over someones life if you keep it. id probably bring it to the police station. no wait, id would definitely bring it to the police station because i have long hair and i get dirty looks and crap all the time for it, so im always trying to help sway the prejudice views of other people for me and my fellow long haired brethren. im not a hippy.

There isn't a doubt in my mind that if I found something like that, or anything that was not mine that someone had lost, I would definitely give it back, or turn it into the lost and found department. Why should I keep something that is not mine? I'm not that greedy.

I think it would be bad karma to keep the money and the best thing to do is always the most honest thing to do....give it back. If she couldn't find the person who donated it then she should alert the store owner and let them deal with it. I'm glad she got a reward for her honesty, but do you really think people should be rewarded for doing what's right?

Yeah it would be bad karma...I know if someone found something I lost, I would like it returned...I think its good to show appreciation.

, I will do the same provided I have the address to this sum of money. Although, the family donated the boxed items and $30,000 was found, it could means there is something more than meets the eye. I really can't figure out why is the family does not know that there is $30,000 hidden in the boxes? You could say that the old lady secretly hidden her money in the boxes which is quite true as she does not want anybody to touch her money or any other ideas you can think of why the family does not know about the hidden sum of money?

I would probably try to find the owner and give it back.
I clean my cousins home everyday except weekends and days that he is off and that entails doing laudry as well. Often I have found money in the washer or dryer where he or one of his three sons have left it in their clothes and I never take it.
So, I don't think I would feel right taking money foung there, I think I would at least try to track down the owner.

Isnt it nice to hear stories like this and realise that there are still some lovely people in the world, because not everyone would have been that honest because that is a lot of money to just come across and give back. She could have quite easily kept it or some of it and maybe no one would have been any the wiser. I dont know what I would do and thats me being honest, I can say now because its never happened to me that I would give it back or try to track down a relative, but if I actually found that sort of cash and it was sitting in my hands I would be seriously torn between wanting to do the right thing and not.

That is a good question. I would want to say that I would be honest do to the fact that I am a very honest person. But 30,000 why would anyone have that kind of money laying around. I am lucky if I can keep 30.00, so I would have to thing about it. 30,000 wonder if the money was dirty! I know it sounds good, But if I did keep it I would not be able to sleep at night, So yes I would give it back to.
