I saw this video this morning about a gentleman who's wife had passed away and had left him a voice message on their phone before she passed away. Apparently the voice mail was removed from his voicemail box when his phone service was upgraded. He said he liked to listen to her voice for comfort. He told his story to the phone company and they actually hired a contractor to retrieve the message and they reinstalled the message to his voice mail. There are still people out there doing good deeds and this just makes me feel better about the world! I hope you find it as touching as I did. http://cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/up/player/popup/?cl=7037082

I think thats pretty awesome. It kind of restores my faith that all phone companies arent just out for the money. They care about their customers. I'd like to know what phone company that was because I would switch if it wasnt my current one. That kind of compassion is amazing.

I was thinking the same thing. I would love to know what phone company that is as well. You are right, that kind of compassion is truly amazing, especially in the current world we live in right now.

I saw this story on the evening news last night and it was very touching. The aging man looked forward to listening to his deceased wife's message on a regular basis. How sweet. When it was removed he was devistated. There are still very caring people out there.

I found it very touching as well. I am sure he was devastated when he found that his wife's message was gone. I think I would have been to. He must hae been heart broken. It is his last link to her voice. I am so happy to know that there are people out there that will go that extra mile!

What a lovely story. I have often thought that if something happened to my wife I would have to listen to our voice mail recording to hear her voice again. But then the other day I rang it and discovered that it is my voice not hers. Doh! Thank you for finding that.

Well it's a good thing you found out eh? hahaha! It is a very lovely story. I hear so many bad things these days, it is refreshing to hear of a good deed like this. That is why I felt I needed to share that with everyone here! I think that is a fantastic idea though.

That is what I call a true love. It is so touching for him to listen to the voice message of his late wife over and over again. Just like Sonnet 18 by William Shakespear, "So long as man can breath and eyes can see, so long live this and this give life to thee." By listening to her voice will give "life" to her.

That is a good analogy of this man's story by using William Shakespeare. That is true what you say. By listening to her voice over and over again daily, it does breathe life into her memory again and keeps it alive for him. That is true love. I think I would probably do the same thing if my husband were to pass. I don't think I could go a day without hearing his voice. While he has been in Iraq, there have been quite a few times when I haven't heard from him in some time and it drives me crazy if I don't at least hear his voice. I have many saved messages on my cell phone. My husband says much the same thing that when he is unable to use a phone to call me it saddens him to no end.

I happen to agree! The company could have easily said no and that the message could not be retrieved, but they went above and beyond to help this man. I find that very touching and it is a wonderful story!

It is hard enough to lose a person but to lose the last thing they had with there voice on it would be the hardest thing like losing them all over again but worse cause now you don't have the comfort of hearing there voice when you need it to comfort you through long days and nights. The only thing that keeps your head above water when your feeling as though your emotions are drowning you. I am so glad that they are people who have heart and that they did this for this man. They will be blessed for it I am sure. He is lucky they hadn't cleaned out their archives. Also I hope that he recorded her voice onto a tape or something so that just in case this happens again he will have it still and not feel so bad.

Hey I think that is great mamasan34! Maybe you can also insert pctures and show you from birth in a picture slide up to age you are now and each year maybe add something like special times. Like when you were married and about your life. You could call it a rememberance DVD. I wish I had one of my granparents. They were special to me and alot of people don't know until it is to late. So I would seriously do this and possibly make one for your husbands family as well. I would even add all the silly moments like a picture of him cooking and telling funny tidbits about it and the time he tried to do something that never turned out. Stuff like that stuff you and others love about him. I am thinking of seriously doing one for my husband since he has cancer and we are never for sure how long each of us was chosen to be on this earth to love, learn, and teach others how much we love them and how much they mean to us. A rememberance video would go far in helping those cope better I know it would me.

I agree with you totallyl. That is a good idea about the tape. It gave me a good idea to record myself before it's my time and send out dvd's telling everyone in my family and close friends how much they meant to me and how they impacted my life. That way if they get to missing me they can watch me on dvd hahha!

I listened to this and it is very touching. It brought tears to my eyes. That says a lot for the Verizon company. It takes a tender heart to care enough to contract the people to find the message so it can be reinstalled in the gentlemens phone. This is a big gold star for this company and it says that they care bout their customers in a big way. This touched my heart in a big way.

I had no idea it was verizon! My brother works for that company. I am going to have to share that information with him, if he hasn't heard about it already. The story really touched me and for a big business to take such care with this man, says something!

These stories are few and far between in my opinion. I am so glad to have heard of such a touching story involving such a large corporation. Your right, in this day and age it is unexpected!
