Well, many here might think it is only March, so why start planning now. But in reality, if you are planning a nice Vacation now, I have found a lot of times, you get the Best deals when you travel if you Book early. Especially if you are flying. The fares tend to increase when it is more last minute, and you might not even be able to get what you want or are looking for if you wait as well.
I know there are times you may plan something last minute, and then have no choice. But if you are like me, you like to be able to plan ahead some so you know how much money you might need to save up, and how to get your Best deals for your buck.
Well, since we went to NYC and such last yr. we actually are just going to go do something somewhere close this yr. It might just be short weekend trips maybe as well to save on money, and gas. But next year is our 10 yr. Wedding anniversary and my husbands 50th, so we are wanting to go to NYC etc again just to Celebrate and have a nice time away. We actually are trying to find ways to start planning and saving so we will be able to have an awesome time there as well.
So what are your plans, and are you a planner, and a Budgeter, or do you just go all out, and hope for the Best in the end?

I am a planner! I plan my vacations one year in advance.
We are going to Florida next month:) We are flying. I searched and searched for good airfare because there are 5 of us flying and it can be very pricey! We will be staying right on the beach in a condo. We own a timeshare , so the price is really good for us.
we are also going to disney this year. That will be costing us a fortune, but my 7 yr old daughter hasn't been since she was 2, so it is time to take her again.
We are also going camping at the beach for one week in July. And in August my husband and I are taking a long weekend and going to NYcity.
I am starting to plan our vacation now for next year.
I also budget for my vacations. I put money away each week that is used for vacations and not tuched for anything else.

I actually do quite the opposite. I have an idea of when I want to travel . Then a few weeks before I look at all the last minute options. All inclusives can be half the price and most likely you never end up at the same place twice. As long as it's warm. Living in snow 8 months of the year does that to you. I never sit around a hotel. The money I save on the trip leaves with more to travel around the countryside. Experience the local communities. For me that is what travelling is all about. Generally I try to do this in January or Febuary. But it's getting more expensive to do this every year or I should say every other year. But I look forward to it when it does come around.

I love the all inclusive vacation packages that you can find online! They are always such a great bargain!
I have to plan ahead because I have 4 children and need to make the plans around their schooling. Also, my husband has to put in for his vacation in January for the year, or he doesn't get the weeks off that we plan to vacation.
I agree, if you can wait to get the last minute deals, you have hit the jackpot!

got no plans yet for this summer (it's summer here in my country philippines) but, i think the one that will complete my summer months is being able to watch the U23D concert movie this coming April. even if i'd go to a faraway beautiful place, my summer will be nothing if will not watch it. U23D alone will complete my whole summer vacation. :)

Our summer travel plans will mostly be camping on weekends to our favorite camp ground, not too far from home. However, I am planning a trip at the end of October, since it is a Scrapbook Weekend Retreat, the hotel reservations are made, I will be driving down so no plane reservations to make there. I am however a planner and budgeter when I travel. I am already planning and have figured my budget for saving the money for that trip. I am also not one to wait til the night before to pack, I normally start packing a few days ahead, checking my packing list that I make well in advance.

Yes it is always nice to have your own place. Congradulation on your retirement and sale. The Philippines sound like a very nice place to live. I'm still digging out from all our snow. We are nearing april so spring is not far away. That is something I can smile about.

My wife and I have no plans for the summer but I would like to enjoy the Michgan area for there is much to see in our home state.
We have a big public park very close that is the only Michigan port on Lake Erie and I think we will spend some time here riding bikes and going on the walking trail. Also there is a tulip festival i Holland Michigan this spring...so we can see the thousands of tulips in the various fomrations and the parade they have..they wash the streets in their dutch costomes and dance in Wooden Shoes..
Maybe we will go see Macinaw Island as this is by the Big Mack Bridge and the island has 14 fudge shops plus no cars only bikes and horses are alloed..
But the upper pennisula of Michigan is a paradise with many falls and even some mountains..lots of Pasties (a local food..Finish invented) and Maybe the Wisconsin Dells as I have not been there in years...but its all fun..

I'm planning to visit Cebu. It's an hour flight from my city I guess. My sister is based from that whatever-city now and she's been inviting me ever since. So now that I finally don't have obligations here in town, maybe I'll give it a shot. I travel this summer to her and see if what her city can do my life good.

Last year (April 6 to May 6)I had a one month vacation in Canada (Montreal and neighboring cities, Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver and neighboring cities in B.C., and Victoria). It was a delightful and unforgetful vacation for me. The travel expenses were paid by my sisters and brother there.
Earlier this year, hubby and I planned that I and my 2 sons will have the summer vacation in his overseas work-site. I had renewed my sons' passports and mine. Been looking on some airline sites for airline fares. But seems it will not push through coz of some budget constraint. Fingers' crossed, I still hope it will push through.
I hope there will be some summer fun that we could get into, even just near the vicinities here, if our travel plan will not push through.

Yes, thank you for reminding me as it is time to book a room for the first leg of our journey. We go the same place every summer, but do not always take the same route getting there. Happy 50th. We have just a few short years to go before we are there.
We are budgeters but we do also splurge a little from time to time. But even when splurging, we still look for the best price. I am going to TravelWorm and Roomsavers now and check that out.

I hope to be able to take a trip to Florida again this year, since that is where my brother and sister live, and it is usually a cheap vacation, since I have a place to stay and that is one of the most expensive parts of a vacation. But with gas prices going up the way that they are, not sure if I will be going or not. I do have vacation planned off in the month of June from work though, whether I go anywhere or not.
