Do you make yoghurt at home?

It seems that lately I've bought some electrical appliances. The yoghurt maker is just quite simple. It is a bit like a stable warmer. All you need is to put some original flavor yoghurt inside the milk. And you put into the yoghurt maker and plug it in. Next day you will have nice yoghurt. It seems lately I am quite interested in home made food

Hello youless!:-) It must have been a good feeling to be able to make something at home which gives not only confidence that something is made hygienically but also the good feeling that you did it yourself. When I was in my homeland, we used to make yoghurt at home, not always just sometimes. But, we never used a machine for this purpose. We used to boil fresh milk, let it a little cool down and then add some amount of already made yoghurt in it. After several hours, the whole milk would convert to yoghurt. But, I can understand that given your low environmental temperature, it would be difficult to make yoghurt without machine or maybe it would take few days to make it without machine?? I don't know about it there but in our homeland it was simple i.e. just at room temperature!

In fact making yoghurt at home isn't difficult at all. But using the machine may make the yoghurt a little better. But I think it's OK to make yoghurt without the maker anyway

Ah, I see. I thought that it isn't possible, or t least it is difficult to make yoghurt without machine there. So, if I understood correctly, machine is to make better yoghurt. Thanks for clearing, youless!

Morning again, dear youless. It is better to be careful not to be caught up with. hahaha. Now you know, you will be always pressed when you are in the front. So I am happy to be the next one instead of being the first. No worry, I don't think that I will exceed you in number or post. Good luck and take care. (I am going to work now) Bye for now.

I am lazy to be honest I would much rather go to the supermarket and buy yoghurts in bulk and keep them in the fridge, I love yoghurt, because it's better than sweets, good for the digestive system and full of protein. It's good to experiment though and I do peel fruits and put them into yoghurt which I guess you can do with your yoghurt maker? Making new concoctions up.

Hi. I make my own yogurt without a yogurt maker. It's really easy. I have a recipe for it in my blog at http://janecajuguiran.blogspot.com. It only takes about 12 hours to ferment the milk. I make it into salad by adding some condensed milk and different fresh fruits. Sometimes, I bake a muffin with it and add some nuts. It' really good.

I didn't know you have an electrical appliance for it. I still make it the old fashioned way....with warm milk and a little starter. It just needs to be kept warm. If it's a cold day, it needs to stay out longer...or I put it in a casserole so it remains warm. My husband says my yogurt is the best! His mom just keeps pouring milk over the old yogurt (yuck!) and obviously it doesn't turn out good. I make a huge batch each time...and store it in the fridge.

Oh ok. I don't think I will get one...because the old fashioned way works the same for me...and it's not too much work either. But it's nice to know about such things in the market in case someone needs it.

In fact this machine is like a warmer, because it's not complicated at all. Just keep it warm for a whole night and next day the yoghurt will be done.

I have never tried making yogurt at home, but it sounds like it would be really good! We don't have a yogurt maker, but maybe it's something I should look into getting. Homemade yogurt sounds really yummy! It's a nice way to get some extra fruit in my diet, too! :)

We did make yoghurt a while back. Then we got lazy and stopped. I guess if we really want to, it is not difficult to go back to making yoghurt to eat.

I've never tried making yogurt at home before I would love to try. I didnt even know there was a yogurt maker before now. I had a friend who used to make the most awesome yogurt at home but i think she did a different way (she explained how but ive forgotten) without a maker.

Hi youless, really, from your recent discussions I could see you have great interest in making food at home. So I believe your family would be much benefited by having the chance to enjoy those fresh and delicious home foods you have prepared. It is nice to have such prepared food as they always hygienic and economical. Moreover your son would also enjoy watching or taking part in this meaningful activities. Besides, I believe your kid would admire you for your wonderful master piece. I am the lazy type of person so I prefer to get my favourite yogurt from the hypermarket all the time.
