I have seen this differs from person to person.
some can't sleep without night lamp. some sleep in complete darkness.
how you sleep?
I can't sleep without the night lamp.
that too not without that brighter yellow shade.
But my dad is one who can't sleep with night lamp on.
what is your choice?

I want the complete darkness while I sleep. I dnt think this makes any difference on our health. Its all about getting a sound sleep and resting our body.

I also want complete darkness for me to sleep properly. Otherwise it would be as if I have not slept at all. If there was a light at home which can be seen by me makes me watch it till it goes off. With that I used to get irritated.
But nowdays because of the road lights I have enough light at home and so i have got used to sleeping with that.

Ha.. the same as your father, I can't sleep with the night lamp on. When I go to sleep, I hope it's darkness, I think the darkness can help me to sleep more deeply.

No I don't like any kind of light in the room when I go to sleep. I like to sleep in pitch dark room. As we all know few minutes after we are in darkness, our eyes adjust themselves to darkness and then we are able to see everything clearly. so I think there is no need of any etc light. Yes some people are very much found of using table lamps. Even my dad use to bring very beautiful night lamps with colorful shades.....but I am different person. Nice discussion.

I can't sleep with a light on but my bedroom curtains are only thin so the room is never totally dark. I have been woken up a few times when the moon was so big and so bright it was sending moonlight into my room. I would not want to lie in complete darkness but a little natural light is comforting.

I guess I gotta say that I personally am one of those people that it doens't matter, because I adjust according. For example if I am sleeping in my youngest sons room, he has to have a light (any), but my finance and other son prefer pitch darkness. To me it doesn't matter, because as soon as my head hits the pillow..I am DONE. The day is over..I did my best in whatever (mom, work, etc)..I say thank you to the universe for all my blessings..and I am out.
But what really gets me..have you noticed, that some people cannot sleep in the quiet..they have to have the TV or radio going or something. I did this to a certain degree when I was much younger, but I currently know people (young and old) that still do this. And that scares me because God only knows how much "junk" information you are asboring in your sleep. What do you all think?

i love sleeping in complete darkness because it relaxes me more and i dont see any distractions at all.. of course because it is dark! haha..
well, at work especially on a graveyard shift there are lights open too so if ever ill be sleeping with lights passing thru at the side of the door what i do is cover my eyes with hanky or anything else even with my hands to avoid seeing the light.

I always used to sleep with the lamp beside my bed on all night, but when I moved into my own place I saw how much that affects my electricity bill so now I'm very conscious about turning lights off when I'm not using them!

At night I sleep in darkness, but I could sleep during the day with full sunlight in my room. It does not matter to me if I am tired enough. I have been known to fall asleep sitting on my sofa during the day or evening and I can sometimes sleep that way for an hour or more. When I go to bed at night I sleep with no lights on, but I live on a well lit street, so it is not totally dark, but I could sleep with any amount or lack of light.

I can only sleep well in complete darkness and when it is quiet, as I am an extremely light sleeper, and often suffer from insomnia.
Unfortunately, where I live now, it is impossible to make the room completely dark, and there is a restaurant below the apartment, so it is noisy early into the morning, so I often get very little sleep.

I have to have the tv on to go to sleep. I can't have it be completely dark or completely quiet :) I've done that for years.
