I'm currently working on losing weight..Being slightly successful at the moment but i seem to fall off the wagon and end up going and eating a bunch of chips or just total junk food for a few days. Some things ive been trying are Making sure i dont take money with me to work so i cant just run out and buy junk to eat. (home its less convenient to because im 40 min from a store) Drinking tea instead of dr pepper. Trying to eat salald for lunch. one thing thats really working is Eating Yogurt, Granola and Hemp hearts (legal in canada) which "fills you up" and the hemp hearts keep you from getting hungry in the later afternoon. I've also made a very large "Guilt" Calendar. The point of this calendar is to mark if i exercised that day or not like walking or elliptical trainer or the gym etc and if i dont mark something down theres this big 5 inch blank spot on the wall for that day...It works fairly well. Paying my sister $10 each time i cheat and go to mcdonalds (i hate having to pay up so i avoid there now) Does any one have any things that theyve tried and found to help with the process..i'm not talking like drugs or that kind of thing but simple changes.

I recommend walking, if you can get somewhere in less than half an hour then walk there rather than taking the car. You can also go shopping, this is enjoyable for me at least and you find that you have walked around for ages and covered quite a distance. I also recommend drinking water, this is meant to speed up your metabolism, but it also makes you feel less hungry, so you are not as likely to snack on junk food in between meals. Hope that helps. Good luck with your weight loss.

Yes I was meaning if you can walk there is thirty minutes as I was talking about walking. You can get a long distance by train / plane / car in thirty minutes that I would not expect anyone to walk.

Try intaking more fruits. the fiber helps keep you full and it'll help you lose weight. Drink more water. Walking is great exercise. if you can try and do a 40 minute walk a few times a week. do random squats while your walking around your house and doing things. if you sit around a lot try and get up and move around for at least 15 minutes every hour or so. everything your already doing sounds really good! good luck and i hope you reach your goal!

You are doing already well with your weight loss program. In addition,I suggest you certain things. 1.You can drink more water. 2.Drink green tea. 3.Instead of 3 big meals a day, make it five small meals a day. 4.Eat more fiber foods. 5.Do some exercises daily, even half an hour walking will do. 6.Avoid junk foods, sugary drinks etc. Happy mylotting

hey saundyl,I am too currently working on losing a lot of weight. The weight won't fall off in a matter of days.Give it sometime, maybe a month or so.You'll see the difference.Don't eat junk food, throw away all the junk thoughts.I know, easier said than done but you just have to hold the urge.I keep a food journal everywhere I go now.I've only had one big meal today. And I haven't exercised but going for a swim later.I don't know if it'll work but I'll update you!

having somewhere to keep track is good..and people to talk to is great too! its always nice to have someone in the same boat. (i dont know why i feel more comfortable telling people online about my efforts than i do with the idea of joining something like tops or weight watchers)

I myself have been dieting and exercising, and trying to lose weight also. I've lost 13 lbs. so far, and all I've done is cut back on my eating, I try not to go for seconds, and I'm now trying to cut out my breads, its hard because I grew up eating bread with every meal, and I'm used to having it. I also need to cut out junk foods, I'm trying to, its hard also. But I've found that I am eating less than I used to, I'm getting full faster, I think its because of the exercise, I walk 2 miles a day, I think my metabolism has increased and I'm burning more fat. Have you tried drinking flavored water? Its kinda like kool-aid, but you add it to water, and its sugar-free and calorie free. They say to drink more water, but if your like me I don't like plain water, so I drink that to stay hydrated especially after exercising, and it has no caffeine in it. I like to drink tea, and its good, but its best to drink the decaf. kind, you can't tell the difference, I can't anyway. Thats the simple things I've changed, my cholesterol even went down, my sugar has gone down, and I feel alot better, not so tired anymore. Hope this helps you some.

Thats really awesome. Congratulations on the weightloss and lowering of your cholesterol. I LOVE the flavoured waters. I drink a lot of plain water as well. I do however need to get off my butt and exercise more often. Thank you for the tips!

I have found the best way to lose weight, is to not add salts to my foods, drink 90% water when thirsty, and dancing around the house works good. I dance 5 to 10 times a day for about 5 minutes each time, when ever I have time, it helps me keep the weight off.

I saw a few good responses here and I'll try to add to what you posted. Hopefully it can assist you in losing weight. Drinking water can really make a difference. One should drink 8, 8 ounce glasses of water per day and add one glass for every 10 pounds over weight. I know that can be a lot of water. What I have done in the past especially if I'd rather drink something else is have your coffee or tea, what have you and then have a large glass (equal to 2 or 3 normal glasses of water) in between. The alternating between them helps so you don't feel like it's all you are drinking. Taking vitamins, especially B complex helps to lose weight. B complex vitamins help to increase the metabolism, so you might be more hungry with it but they will give you more energy. I found with a B complex if I took it right before bed it would help me wake up with more energy and it would last through out the day. If I took it in the morning I'd have too much energy at night when I needed to sleep. When you can take the stairs instead of the elevator. When you are sitting try just lifting and lowering your leg. It's not much exercise but every little bit helps. Also remember not to totally deprive yourself of sweets or other high calorie objects. Treat yourself now and then in moderation otherwise it's very easy to binge and really throw off all the work you have done.

i fidget alot...and i pace or sway. I'm not the kind of person that can stay still long. I noticed that the more weight i loose...the more i move around and even less likely i am to stay still.

Hello saundyl! I have once so conscious with my weight. I have made a lot of research and did a lot of means to lose weight. The most effective one that I have tried was the slimming pills. I honestly took a Chinese slimming pill and hey I really did lose weight in a week. I just feel so thirsty every once in a while. And I often disposes waste like three times a day. At first it was so hard for me but I was really pleased with the results. Others say that it is quite dangerous but so far, it wasn't for me.

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!! I like the idea paying your sister.. I will start that with my sons.. I will give them a quarter every time I cheat.. I try and drink lots of water.. I also am working on having 3-5 serivings of fruit.. and a couple of veggies.. not a big veggie person.. When i am doing well i record what i eat.. and journal.. If i think im hungry i weight (or try to) 20 minutes to see if i really am hungry.. or jsut craving.. thats all I can think of that i do for right now.. keep up the great work..

Find healthy replacements for some of the bad stuff. Cut out all white stuff - eat whole wheat breads, brown rice, whole grains. I wouldn't worry so much about the coffee or tea as long as you make sure you are getting enough water. I eat wheat thins instead of chips when I'm craving the salty crunchy stuff. I eat fruit instead of candy or ice cream(my big downfall) when I want something sweet. So far I'm doing OK. If I really want cookies or cake I eat it, but I try to eat half as much as I used to. I am stuck at my current weight but I am 10lbs less than I was 5 years ago, and I've had 2 kids. If I could just get motivated to stick with the workouts I would be doing great!

just ignore others , think about how slim you are after you insist on doing exercises , that will be fine.

Thats a good thought. Some of the machines there are just so odd looking and confusing. i love using the elliptical trainer - i actually went and bought myself one. The stair stepper is ok, and theres the treadmill the rest i dont even know the names for

I did similar things as you, but I found what works best for me is to exercise more and avoid bad junk food. These days I still do walking after evening meal, I used to do it every night but now three times a week. For snacks, I had seaweed instead of crisps and a banana instead of a bar of chocolate. I've also changed my habit of "eating fast". Eating slow is good! You'll tend to eat less per meal believe me!! Another of my tip is that I didn't allow myself to have any food or drink after 8:00 pm. Not sure if this is healthy, but i did fine :)

How does Seaweed taste, and where would you find it. I've been trying the no food after 8 pm thing..sometimes its really hard to follow that when i dont get home to make supper til 7:45 though (long long workdays and i hate taking two meals to work)

Not sure how to describe the taste of seaweed, but you can find it at a) Asian groceries, and b) health food stores. I think hijiki is the kind that is usually added to salads. Nori is sold in flat sheets for making sushi, but can be toasted and eaten straight or added to salads. Kombu is used to flavor soup broth; I'm not inclined to eat it straight. There's at least one or two more types out there.

Does anybody have any waightloss tips that are easy? Yes, I know of a simple change, you could start by cutting back on eating bread. If you cut this one thing out of your diet you will be much slimmer by the end of one year. I'm not saying to cut it out completely b/c I'm sure that there will be times when you will feel like you just got to have it. But I'm saying just cut back. I have cut back and I feel so much better about myself. I haven't indulged in eating bread in over two weeks. If I eat a hamburger, I take the bread off....Try it and see how it works for you. Ouch...... I would hate to have to pay somebody ten dollars if I decided to go by Mcdonalds. The truth is that I rarely ever go there anyhow. I learned that secret a long time ago, to not go by the fast food places too often. Another major tip is to stay away from all you can eat buffets. They will really pack the pounds on you......Oh well, this is all that I have to add for now. If you just cut back on bread and exercise three or four days a week for thirty mins. I will guarantee that you will gradually begin to see a new person emerging within yourself.....It's been working for me so far...... Good luck.
