Slightly Burnt Toast: Scrape or Pitch?

What do you do when you slightly burn a piece of toast? It's not totally burned but the edges are a little black. Do you scrape it off or pitch it in the trash? The smell is the worse part though, it travels throughout the entire house and lingers for about 15 minutes. While not as bad as burnt popcorn, it is pretty annoying.

What I do is scrape it and check if the cat would like it. If he like, then he can have it. In anyway, I'd toast something new. I like toasted bread, but not to a point that it's already a little black. Burnt popcorn is really annoying, by the way.

What's even worse is when you don;t know its burned until you open the bag and the middle is all black. That sucks lol!

The toaster oven is probably the worst offender, I pop something in and crank it all the way up then complain when it gets burned lol.

i don't think i would eat it...i don't like anything burnt - I think it tastes terrible. but if i had enough jelly and butter and i was starving and it was the only thing in the house then i guess i would eat it.

I cannot eat a piece of toast that has any burning on it! It just goes straight in the bin, and it does stink, and if you scrape it, what a mess it makes! My children are worse than me, if they have it dark brown they will not eat it, theirs has to be only slightly toasted.

I don't like to scrap anything when it comes to food if i can avoid it, so whenever I accidentally burn toast, I either use a rolling pin and turn it into bread crumbs (i always make my own instead of buying store bought), or I break it into small peices and feed it to the birds out in the garden

And also, if its only the edges that are slightly burnt, then I just cut off the edges and use the good part of the bread and give the edges to the birds

I toss it in the trash can :) I hate burnt food and the smell! Speaking of popcorn..and burnt popcorn, I actually had a guy in department I used to work in years ago that loved to eat burnt popcorn. Whenever someone would burn it, he would appear and ask if we were going to throw it away. He wasn't starving, just actually liked the taste of it. He was a bit weird!!

my Mum used to be a scraper but I can't stand it! I hate the texture scraped toast gets and it gets all through the butter... yuck!!

I feel like I would probably just scrape the toast as opposed to wasting it and throwing it in the trash. A pretty good amount of the middle of the toast would have to be really burned for me to throw it away. I might feed it to my rabbit even if it weren't really burned though.

Oh I hate burned food, toast being one of my pet hates, some people I know actually like burned food, but for me it goes in the bin - which as you can imagine as I'm the worst cook in the world, alot of my dishes end up there lol!

I do just scrape it if it's not too bad as a shame to waste the bread if it can be salvaged. The smell is terrible I've recently given up smoking so my sense of smell has become sharper and I can smell it for ages. I have found a good air freshener spray though that actually eliminates the smell and leaves a fresh one behind.

I can't remember the last time i burnt my toast to be honest, i have my toaster on a certain setting and i always stand waiting for it to pop rather than go off and leave it. However if the toast did burn and it was just a bit burnt on just part of the toast i'd probably scrape it off. If it was a bit burnt all over i'd chuck it i think. I can't stand the taste of burnt toast, let alone the smell!!!

I would just scrape it. Or, you can just cut off the burnt part. It doesn't bother me at all. I would just butter it up and put some jam on it and voila, a yummy treat! I know what you mean about that smell, but it really doesn't bother me all that much, either.
