I keep telling myself I want to journal, but can't seem to find the time...or maybe I am just not making the time. I have heard that it's really good for you mentally and kind of concludes the day. Anyone agree?

I keep mine next to my bed and write before I go to bed at night. Sometimes if something special happens, I take a nice long hot bath and journal. I like to add pictures to my journal when I can as well.

Yes I keep a daily diary or journal. My mother was diagnosed with cancer two years, and i am her sole caregiver, and I keep a journal on our every day trials. Later in my life, I hope to be able to go back and revisit my days with my best friend. I will always treasure the times with my mother

It's very important to treasure the moments. I don't have a very close relationship with my mom so it's cool when I hear about someone who does.

I constantly try to keep up a journal. It is difficult to make the time and sometimes I godays without an entry. But when I do write it does help me wrap up the whole day. It helps me release any fustration from the day. But if only I hade more time to keep up on it.

How often do you go back and read through it?

I feel journaling is totally worth it. We never know what life has in store for us. Let's say as you grow older your memory starts to fade, if you kept a journal (whether it be daily, monthly, yearly) you would at least be able to read it and hopefully recall the things you wrote about. If you can't recall it at least your children or other family would still be able to read it and learn all about you. It is basically like doing a photo ablum, only it is written totally in words. I write in mine whenever the need arises.

I keep a journal that I write in a few times a week and sometimes every day. I only use this journal to log the happy moments in my life. So whenever I am feeling down or whatever I can go back and look at all the things that have made me happy.

exactly! I write down all the little things that make me smile in the day. It really is the little thigns that mean the most and make us the happiest on a daily basis. I love my journal.

That's the reason I'm thinking about starting. It seems we easily remember the bad things, but the good things have to be really big to stick.

Have you been journaling for awhile...or did you start within the past 2-3 yrs?

I have a LiveJournal, but I certainly don't use it to the effect you should use a journal and vent, etc. Other people read my journal, so sometimes I don't want people knowing my innermost thoughts. I mainly use my journal to tell what I did that day or whatever. Or talk about a concert I went to. I should probably get a real journal sometime, haha.

Have you thought about keeping a second for your personal feelings and thoughts? If you did, would it feel more secure to do it on paper or online?

I don't do it daily, only when I am stressed out and have to vent or when something really great is happening in my life. This is less pressure than doing it everyday and helps me stick with it long term.

Great therapy! - Writing in a journal can be great therapy! It's great to do on a daily basis.
No, I don't keep a daily journal. I wish I could make myself do so. Writing out your feelings each day is the best form of therapy one can get in my opinion. I just don't have the dicipline to do it.

I don't either. I keep saying I'm going to do it instead of just DOING it. Thanks for responding.

i used to, and i'd like to get back to it again, but i can't seem to find the time yet. writing journals is a good brain exercise, it destresses you, too. my journal is one place i feel so at home.

I dont keep a journal, I think if it is something worth remembering you will remember. If its not worth remembering why write it down. Its not worth it. The best journal you have is you memory.

Hmmm...but can you really remember things from say 4 years ago. I'd probably remember the big things, but the small things might be forgotten.

I agree with you. I want to keep one so bad, but I just can't find the time to. I thought maybe if I started an online blog, I might do it more often. Who knows!!

My thing is making the TIME to do it...not where. Even if it were online instead of on paper, I still don't think I would do it consistently...and I'd like to.

instead of turning your computer on open your journal lol just joking, best time is right after your last meal of the night and before you go to bed.
