Ok, I'm still fairly new here so i just went in yesterday when I was clicking around to my unresolved discussions and realized I needed to mark the best one. I was wondering how long do you usually wait till you mark which is the best responce?

I usually wait for about 5-7 days before I start checking out my unresolved discussions. This would give time enough for some others to respond to our discussions. Sometimes it does take too long, though. So even if there's just a few responses, I would finally mark my best response. Marking the best responses makes the other Mylotters feel good about writing. So I think it's really better to go over our unresolved discussions more often.

I usually wait one week to rate best response because I have seen that many people don't respond to discussions where best responses have already been chosen. But sometimes I rate BR even within two days when I start too many discussions in one day or my discussions get lot of responses. So it totally depends on the number of discussions I have started to decide how much time I wait to rate best responses.

Hi my friend! I usually will wait for a week to give best response that way everyone gets a chance. But sometimes if someone impresses me and its only been a couple of days I will give it then. Because I think they deserve it.

Yeah I think if I come across something that I immediately say wow that is good, I would mark it as soon as I get it, but otherwise I'll give a week or so :)

I wait at least 3 weeks giving everyone a chance to find the discussion and respond to it. One of my pet peeves is people that mark best response within an hour of even starting the discussion. Better responses could come along. Not everyone is on the board everyday, and new people are joining all the time. The only exception is if I am asking for an answer to a specific question, like my laundry question when an article of clothing bled onto another. I got a couple of suggestions. After that there was really no need for anyone else to respond so I thought it was appropriate to mark best response, but I still gave it a couple of days. I think to be fair to everyone you should give it time for everyone to contribute to the discussions.

Good idea, I will keep that in mind, because I know there are times, usually weekends that I dont get one here and then some days I'm too busy with work to be online. Yeah I can see why it would be best to wait a while before marking, thanks :)

I've found that I've had some from a month ago or so that needed to be resolved..yet others mark theirs after 1 day or so..I guess it is a personal choice..I like to wait until after I'm not getting any more responses after about a week or two...

That is a good rule of thumb, if there are no responses after a while then it would go to reason it would be a good time to resolve it it, thanks :)

I wait at least a week. Any sooner doesn't give time for others to respond. And, I have heard several people say they won't answer a discussion once a BR has been given. I think many do still, but alot don't.

I think at least a week is a good rule of thumb to follow, and I do still comment on discussions that have alread been marked too :)

Hello! I believe it's best to wait a few weeks to a month. Some discussions are very popular and could get around 40 or more response. I would recommend to wait it out because there are so many different points of view, opioions, and suggestions on mylot. Generally I wait a few months/weeks before giving the best response to people. I don't have a set timeframe to when I mark a best response. I usually wait until posts slow down, and it looks as though I won't get anymore. I try to comment on each response, so the discussion will go to the top of the interest list, giving people another chance to respond to it again. If it seems like people are no longer responding to it, then I will choose a best response.

I usually try to wait at least several pages into a discussion before I mark a best responce. Unless one catches my eye early on, then I might make an exeption.
