Blogger is by far the easiest platform for blogging. Live Journal and Vox are also other free good alternatives. Or you can host your own blog via wordpress.org.
If you dun mind not having the ability to monetize, you can opt for wordpress.com.
If you are just trying out, I'm not sure if you really want to go for paid ones, as after blogging for a while, most people have a hard time trying to keep up with constant postings. It actually takes a tremendous amount of discipline. If that happens, you may feel that you are wasting your monthly subscription charges.
If you really want to be professional, typepad (paid) and wordpress.org are the best options. If you are keen to learn a little bit of technical stuff, you can make your free blogger blog pretty professional as well.
Happy blogging!

I recommend Vox.com. It's free to set up your blog, and it's easy to navigate through the site. They have looks of banners and what not to customize your blog. That's where I started back over a year ago, before I got into buying my own domains and using Wordpress. Good luck with your new project!

I have been blogging with blogspot for a while now, I think about two orthree years and have found them very satisfactory and would certainly recommend them.

Gather is a great place to blog. It's a fantastic group of people, and you get points for posting, etc., which can be traded in for gift cards and other rewards. I also blog on MySpace, but at the moment, Gather is definitely my favorite.

It seems like blogger.com but I haven't decided. There seems to be a lot more to blogging than I thought. I just want to write some stuff down and see if people will read and respond...Anyway, I will definitely let you know when I find a good one!

I do not have much to compare to because I have only used Blogspot. I like it...there are a lot of backgrounds to choose from and although I have David my computer techie Sweetie to assist me it wasn't too complicated to navigate or set up.
It is Blogspot.com. If you need any assistance and there is anything either David or I can do to make it easier feel free to contact us. Let me know where you are and when you are set up. I'll drop by.
If you want to check out my site there it is:

Wishing you every success in this and all your other ventures...and adventures!

Ahhhh...thank you so much for your validation of my writing. It means so much to me because I respect you and your authenticity. You strike me as a no-bull kind of a gal and I appreciate that so much. You know my motto...in openness there is trust...and in trust there is love...and we got it going!
Thank you for you interest in my blog...and if there is anything I can do to assist you with yours I am here. David is VERY computer savvy and I know he would help you too. We have an excellent long distance package 24-7 anywhere in North America so he could 'walk' you through it over the phone if you can't work it out on your own.
I will check for comments on my Blog if you decide to leave them.
We will keep in touch...I am happy to be here more.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend. I'll be signing off shortly but will be back tomorrow. See you then!

I used to just blog on myspace. It was my way to rant and get crap off my chest and before mylot was all I ever did online. Now I don't exactly "blog" here but I use this place to do the same as I did there and I get a couple pennies for my witchiness.
If you find a good one let me know and I might just follow you there.

Try blogspot ( blogger.com )
It's free. You can browse other bloggers there to get an idea of how it's setup.
