If they are sent by God, they are like dogs, as the bible say: "All the leaders, who are supposed to warn my people,...They are like watch dogs that don't bark...
They are like greedy dogs that never get enough. These leaders have no understanding. They each do as they please and seek their own advantage. (Isa 56:11-12)

i find churches to be quite useless. Churches are just another way of some people making money. Just that. There is no real priest these days. You know, Jesus once met a man that said he wanted to follow Him. And Jesus told that man to sell everything he has and give the money to the poor, and then come follow Him. When that man heard Jesus' words, he didn't say anything and just went home. I bet that 99% of the today's priest would do the same. Even the pope....especially the pope.

It doesn't seem to me that the Church leaders have a very important influence in my life. But if I look back in the history books (and many times outside the history books), I see that former spiritual leaders have had a very important role in the human society: they started or stopped major conflicts, helped or tortured many people, have manipulated the religious books (such as The Bible) to present only certain aspects of religion (and that's very important considering the impact these writings have on the human society).

Hi julyteen, Church leaders are like you and me, they have a job to do. Some are more successful at it then others. Some want only our money. There is no reason that they should play a special role in your life unless you want them to. It is really your choice, but don't put them on a pedestal. Blessings.
