I'm Loving Windows Vista!

Ok, so, my husband and I just bought a new computer, which has Windows Vista on it. I have only been using it for like a few hours but so far I'm loving it! I love the look of it and everything. I love how they have the transparent glass skin for the windows and how the minimized window seems to glow when it lights up. I also love the security on it and all the better backgrounds it has for the desktop. It's just awesome!
For those of you who use this operation system, how do you feel about it and have you had any problems with it? I would really appreciate you input on this. Thanks all!

there is a lot more to an OS than the look of it. the functionality of it is typically the main deciding factor. i dont know if they have fixed it yet, but when it first came out, there was no version of msn messenger for it. msn messenger, in case you didnt know, is a microsoft product. their latest OS wasnt compatible with some of their own software. my moms laptop has vista, and she isnt very computer smart, so im always having to change and fix things for her. the menus and navigation of vista for things like setting up a workgroup, i think are designed to be intentionally hard to find just so that dumb users cant change things and mess it up. theyve made it so much more user friendly because they made it so much more difficult to change things. by making sure their users cant harm the default settings, theyre making sure everything functions the way it was meant to. which is great for some people, people who dont want much functionality in their OS, who just use a computer for things like word processing and web browsing. but if youre like me and want something customizable to suit some 'more advanced' functions of a computer, vista is crap. microsoft didnt need to fix what wasnt broken.

Spanktastic, (great name, btw) my MSN IM works great on my new Windows Vista, so they must have got that all straightened out. Thank goodness, because I use it often and have come to rely on it as a communication tool with some of my best friends here on the Lot.

A lot of people have had major problems with Vista, myself included. However, the problem is not the operating system itself, which is an excellent platform, but the many compatability issues with older software and hardware. Too many companies have simply not bothered to either upgrade their software for Vista or provide Vista drivers for their hardware. When you consider how long Windows Vista has been in existance this is really poor.
With a new computer you can take full advantage of the many improvements that Vista has to offer.

I am glad you like it. I have had it since september 2007 and still don't like it. I don't go on that computer unless I totally have to cause I don't like it. I think though it depends on what you are doing with it too. If it is just basics then it doesn't really matter.

congrats on the new computer!!
I like vista now, though at first i was pretty angry with it. It took me a long time to get used to it. there are still somethings that aggravate me about it but I wouldn't trade it to go back to XP.
the hardest part is having things that i can't use anymore because they are not compatible.

Every program that we have so far seems to be running fine with it and I really have not run into a problem with it yet. To me, I think it's one of the best systems we have run on it a long time.

I am working as a networking engineer and i think compare to windows Xp,vista is a failure.Lot of bugs is still there with vista. It can support good graphics, but running some application problems create lot of problem.Hardware requirement for running vista is very high. You cannot install it on old pcs.Best operating system designed so far by Microsoft is windows 98 and windows XP.I think Vista is a total failure.

We have experianced the same issues. Vista doesnt play nice with others... yet.
Lot of applications just dont run well with Vista.
However, on a single unit, it has some nice features...

I have never used it and all my IT tech friends have told me to stay away from it for a little while longer while more of the bugs are worked out of it. Funny how they said the same thing about Windows XP? I love Windows XP and I think it is really good. I am not in a hurry to change windows versions either. If it works, it isn't broke, don't try to fix it!
Anyway, I am glad to hear that someone has given a great review on Vista! It gives me hope for a better PC experience in the future when my IT friends give me the ok to go for the switch. I am kinda looking forward to it too.

I'm loving it too, and haven't had any problems yet. The glass skin is way more of a big deal when you see it than I thought it would be from reading the reviews. Actually, last summer I came to a screeching halt in the first store where I saw Vista on display on one of those HP slimline desktops and bought the whole set-up on the spot. Good thing for me it was at Sam's Club on a special sale. Really, I expected it to be junk, but it rocks.

We have Windows Vista on our new computer too and I like it just fine so far. I've heard very negative things about it, but I haven't run into anything yet that I don't like or object to.

I've been using Vista for over a year now. The only problem I had with it so far was that my printer wasn't compatible with it. As my husband and I didn't see it being worth it to downgrade back to XP, we decided to get a new printer. Other than that we like Vista very much!

My new laptop has Vista installed on it and I am happy with it. I think the security features are good. I know every website I visit is scanned automatically and I also scan every day for spyware and unwanted software but I never find any.
I think Vista is easy to use, which is a big advantage for me. It doesn't really matter how it looks as long as it works well.
