Do you like to cook with bell peppers?

I like cooking with bell peppers. I just find that they add a lot of flavor to whatever you are making such as pasta dishes, spaghetti, caccatorie, even pizza.
Last week we did our grocery shopping and found that the 99 cent store had three bell peppers in one package for 99 cents, yellow, orange, and red. Unfortunately we bought ONE green one at the regular grocery store for 79 cents first before we went to the 99 Cent Store!
Bummer, we won't be making that mistake again, first we go to the 99 Cent Store and THEN the regular grocery store!!
I chopped them all up and put them in a ziplock bag to freeze them for later when we will use them for cooking. That way they don't spoil before we use them! That's one way we can save our fresh bell peppers and don't end up wasting them!
Do you like to cook with bell peppers? If so, do you have a favorite color?

Yes, I like bell peppers. In fact I think I'll grow some this year. That way I can let some rippen and pick some green so we'll have a variety. Actually, color doesn't matter than much since I like to roast them over the gas flame in the kitchen. I think that's the way they taste best.

First of all...
You have a 99 cent store that sells groceries?! Wow! I wish we had one of those!
I pay a dollar or more per pepper here in New Jersey!
I used to hate bell peppers growing up. Suddenly in the last year I love them! I don't know what happened! My sister makes this awesome pasta using peppers. I just bought the supplies to make it tomorrow. I use fresh peppers to make this but I also buy frozen ones in bags to use in stir-frys and sauces. I put them in my husband's eggs sometimes too.
My favorite peppers are red and green.
I freeze whatever I don't use as well. I don't like letting peppers go to waste since I use them a lot.

I like to cook with bell peppers but they are frightfully expensive. $4 for three peppers is just wild. Thus, I am trying to grow them. That way, I will always have peppers for the picking...

I also have herbs growing. They are small as yet, one pot of chives has not sprouted yet.

Having herbs and fresh veggies in the flower pot is convenient as well as I am a monthly shopper and depend on taxi cabs. If you think gas is expensive, triple it and that's the kind of prices I face getting about!

I don't have good light in the apartment, nor do I have an outside patch of ground, so i depend on a florescent corkscrew light bulb to give my plants 24/7 light. It works surprisingly well.

I don't care for bell peppers, they make me constipated - like a fist.
I had to give them up a number of years ago, but I really wasn't enjoying them for years before. I did like them best fresh, but had to stop eating them all together.
Oh well... food allergies....

Red, yellow, green, orange, I love them all ! Though Green bell pepper has the maximum flavor in my opinion, the others have a tinge of sweetness in them, I feel. By the way, did you know, a red bell pepper has the highest amount of vitamin C, even more than lemon and orange juice, I already thank myself for eating healthy..
I like to make a stir fry out of all the colorful bell peppers, it is a hit side dish at our home. I also like to make a yogurt salad with the colorful bell peppers which look absolutely gorgeous mixed in plain white yogurt.
Apart from the usual pasta and pizza routine, I try and put bell peppers in any dish once a week, just to enhance the flavor of whatever it is I am cooking.

I don't use bell peppers in everything I make, or rather in most of the dishes I make. I only put it in the ones i feel need it. I like to put it in lo mien (noodles with veggies and sometimes meat) and I like to cut it into squares and put it into my fried rice. I like it on my subway sandwiches, but just a little. Sometimes I actually put a few slices asides cause it's raw of course and I don't like alot of it when it's raw.

I love green bell peppers. Last year I bought a plant from a local nursery and had a really good crop. I froze some cut in half for stuffing and dehydrated some to cook with. I love fresh bell peppers though and always have them in salad when I can. When I can grow them, I eat them like apples.

I actually like adding them to my salad. I usually use green, but I also like yellow because they have a sweet taste to them. But, lately, prices have gone up really high on peppers in my area. I used to be able to get 3 for a dollar, now I'm lucky to get one for $2 if I want an orange or yellow ones. I think I can get a green one for about a dollar. So, I'm mostly eating jalepenos for my peppers.

I do not use the *green* bell peppers (which I love) because of an allergy to them.
For some reason, I 'can' use the red, orange and yellow ones. Doesn't make any sense does it? Anyways, I use them alot in my cooking. I love the crispiness when they are just warmed. I love bell peppers in eggs, especially.

I love bell peppers! I love stuffed bell peppers for dinner! I eat green bell peppers more often because I can get them for 99 cents or even sometimes 2 for a $1.00. The red, yellow and orange ones run $1.99 or more each. I eat them raw, sauteed, cooked fully... whatever. I would put them in everything if I could, but my husband isn't that big on them. He likes them in philly cheesesteaks and in fajitas, but that's about it. He doesn't like stuffed bell peppers which is why I don't get them very often. I would have to say that the red ones are my favorite because they are sooo sweet!

Hi, horsesrule. I love cooking with the green peppers. I cut these up into my baked chicken. It is very delicious to eat when it is cooked. I love all of the colors. So, I don't have a favorite color. I would like to try cooking with the red and orange. Are these peppers similar to banana peppers that are mild or hot??

I totally agree with you. I freeze a lot of them while in season and also keep cans of the red ones, just in case. There are some dishes where I prefer the fresh peppers and I also use them to make several kinds of appetizers. Now that there are the three kinds, I make an easy appetizer with diced peppers boiled in syrup and served over Philadelphia cream cheese.

I remember I ate an awesome dish with peppers in Mexico in September. They told me it was a dish they only made during Independence month. I forgot the name of the dish. Do you know it so that I can check it online?

Do your bell peppers go ding dong? Mine do. Scared the heck out of me the first time I cut into one and it ding donged me! The yellow ones are especially loud, but the orange ones are my favorite.
