PROCRASTINATION: Are you guilty of it?

I am definitely guilty of putting things off at times and right now is one of them. I am suppose to be getting some housework finished and here I sit on MyLot, when I know there are things to be done.
It's just that during the day it's my time for myself. Once my husband gets home, it's hard to do things that I like to do because he requires my attention and while I feel guilty for procrastinating regarding my housework, I need this time for myself as well.
What do you all think? Do you put things off that you know needs to get done? Why?

Well, I've always put paying attention to my hubby a bit ahead of housework, but he makes that easy by chipping in and doing more than his share of the work. Sometimes it is really hard to get all the things we'd like to do done, but the important thing is to get all the things that we NEED to do done. We need to give our partners attention, I think, because every moment is a new adventure when we are with our loved ones, but housework is just the same thing over and again.

I agree completely and that's why I spend time with him at night, which is why I need some time for myself during the day but it's all cool because I got my housework done yesterday, despite the fact that I put it off a bit

Hands up, I'm guilty :-) I find myself putting off the chores in order to spend time on here, typing away for hours and enjoying my time online.

Guilty! Oh, yes. Taxes are due in four days and I just this morning gave my business information to my tax man (my very patient husband!). I put off housework, too. I should be doing some of that right now.
I think the bottom line reason for procrastination is perfectionism. I feel like if I don't have time to do it right and perfect, then I don't even start it. As I've gotten older I've come to realize that I'll never get it perfect anyway, and I've learned that just starting a job is half the battle, so maybe there's hope for me yet!

Yes, I'm really big on procrastination and I don't even know why. There's so many things that I need to be doing but I'm also sitting here on mylot. It looks like we're all putting cleaning off until later; this is something that happens to me a lot. Often times, I feel like there isn't enough time in a day for all that I want to finish. My first priority is my job because it helps me support my family. Then, my family; a husband, two daughters and a baby on the way. They take up a lot of my time and I don't even notice it until it's almost bed time AND nothing is done around the house. I really need to find some kind of organization in my life so I don't feel so overwhelmed with every day life.

Wow, you really have a lot going on and so, I don't blame you for putting things off. I think that's my problem too, organization. With some things I'm so organized and then with others I'm not. I think with my time, I could stand to be a little more organized though.

yes i am guilty also about this attitude. i thought procrastination is only common in our culture. i am always put things off...specially school projects. this was happen lately when the deadline of our projects is near to come. it was given 2 months ago i did it yesterday. i always did cramming. it's challenging if i am under pressure than working it in advance and very relax.

I am absolutely guilty of this. But we do need to take time to relax. I know what you mean about it being hard to have time for yourself when hubby gets home! I spend too much time goofing off when I should be writing. If I can't come up with an idea, I tend to find something else to do, and it usually isn't housework!

Yeah, once he gets home it's hard to do my own thing because I feel guilty that I'm not spending time with him.

Cleaning the house, doing some work, getting other things done, yep.. I put it off and off and off, guilty as charged here! But you are right, you require time to yourself.. maybe the one thing to do is to create a schedule for the day. Set aside a particular time to do what you please and set aside other time to get done what you need to get done. I should be taking that kind of advice myself lol.

You are waking up my guilty conscience.I too have so much of pending work but I can't help reading some light stuff or fooling around in mylot.com
We are all sailing in a similar boat, where we know and are conscious that there is unfinished work that requires our attention, but still we feel like indulging ourselves on some spare time.

Guilty! I find myself surfing websites and reading forums instead of doing my QA work. I find myself easily distracted since I know that I have the whole week as a deadline for my work. But I sometimes tend to cram and rush towards the last day.. So I guess, it's all break even for me..

Someone told me the other day I never give myself anytime. They are right.
I will always put off housework until after a few days I finally decide to clean everything from top to bottom. Some things I do a little bit of each day, and then others I do as little and as least often as possible.
