Warning on my hair dryer...

United States

I was unpacking a box yesterday and found the hair dryer attachments and booklet. I noticed on the instructions page it has some warnings. Most make sense- don't cover the vents, don't wrap the cord around it, etc. But about 5 or 6 down, it says "Do not use while sleeping". HUH??!? Have you ever used a hairdryer while sleeping...?

I've seen those and no I've never used it while sleeping. Maybe it goes back to the type that go over the head? I have no clue. Many of the warnings I see make me wonder. Like the one on the lawn mower that stated turn engine off before working on it. Uh..hello..who would stick their fingers in where the blade is while it's running. Really makes you wonder doesn't it?

No I haven't managed that one lol Some thing I did do by accident the other day was cover the vent. My husband needed dry socks and his were quite done so I was using the ah air dryer to get a bit more leverage, I put the vent on my shirt and there was this odd smell...I looked down and I scorched my shirt! Good thing it was a cheap shirt I bought on ebay LOL

I guess that would be for the sleepwalkers who wash their hair. I personally have never used one while sleeping and don't plan on it. That is just too funny!

Thats funny. I've always been curious as to why they put directions on shampoo bottles. I mean who doesn't know how to shampoo their hair? Although it reminds me of a true story. One Friday afternoon, a few co-workers and myself were talking about using rain water to shampoo your hair. On the following Monday one of the girls came back to work and was all ticked off because it had stopped raining before she had rinsed out the conditioner. She had actually gone out on her front lawn and stood in the rain to wash her hair, but much to her dismay she had just gotten the conditioner in and the rain stopped.

I can't say that I have ever used a hair dryer while sleeping. I am not really sure that it would be possible unless you were sleep walking. In which case you would have had to taken a shower and washed your hair while sleeping too.

This is hilarious! They must have gotten sued once by someone who did this, so they have to include it in the warnings! Like the coffee lids, they have to say "caution hot" Because someone got burned while drinking it, sued, and won! So most of us, would never fall asleep while blow drying our hair, but it has happened at least once, if the manufacture put it in the warning. Wow, I cant stop laughing!

It sounds funny and the average person knows not to use while sleeping but your be SURPISE somebody must of done it for them to put it on the warning label(booklet) I don't put it pass anyone anymore because common sense isn't something that alot of people have so even though the average person would be like come on this don't make no sense to some it does. And I know how you feel because I read the warning labels on almost everything and I've read so craziness(no let me say noncommon sense warnings)

I'd say I haven't yet, but if I was sleeping at the time I'm not sure if I'd remember doing it or not. Life can be pretty hilarious.

Ummm ... no. I do suppose someone that is awake could use it on a person that is sleeping, though. I can't imagine why they'd want to, but I guess if they did they could burn the person before they woke up.

lol, I can surely and safely say I have not! But there are many items that have the weirdest warnings or funniest warnings on them. Sometimes makes you wonder if people would really do such things, as with your hairdryer. There are a few websites you can run across to see many other funny warnings as well. One of my favourites is one on a soap that said "Direction - use like regular soap" I don't know where these people come up with these things.

oh mygoodness how funny . I do not think I have ever used a hairdryer while sleeping. that is like the warning on my sleeping aid box which says,in all seriousness, this may make you sleepy.duh hope so but it did not as a matter of fact. Or the one on a computer which said do not stand on this. How manyof us have stood on our computers?
