Until recently, there were only 2 rock stations in Orlando, 1 was rock , the other was alternative. About 2 months ago, the alternative station went off the air and was replaced with a crappy station. Now there is only 1 choice for rock. THAT station has a freeking talk show on from 5am to 10 am.. and a talk show 3pm to whenever.. NO music. I HATE talk. Radio stations should play MUSIC unless they are a designated talk station. Why do these stations do this to their listeners? DO you all have the same problems in your area, or are you lucky and have a choice? Thank you for listening to my rant, I now return you to your regularly scheduled life

I feel your pain. I think we listen to the same stations. Are you talking about WHTQ? We have been picking up Tampa stations recently but I am not sure what the frequencies are without being in the car. 102.5 and 101.9 I think.

but the point is there is NOTHING to change it to as there is only 1 rock station left that I can tune into on my fm dial.

Sunday morning is the worst around here for finding any music on. I have noticed that the local stations have a lot of chattering going on in the morning though. Even if it isn't a talk show, there is all this business going on in the morning - traffic, celebrity news, call in contest announcements, weather, chitchat between the hosts. Where we lived before there was a very poopular morning talk show, with no music just jokes, pranks, local politics, etc. It had such a wide range of listeners, so maybe this is what people want in the morning?

Maybe they do whit... I don't understand it. In the morings to wake up I NEED music. If I am sitting in traffic.. I NEED music. I guess I don't like the talking because it reminds me too much of commercials between the music.. FOr now, I guess while sitting at work, I will listen to my CD's (when my player wants to work) or silence

It sounds like it is time for you to splurge on XM radio! LOL! It came with my car and I love it. I do like one radio stations show in the AM. They are fun to listen to. But, all the other morning talk shows before they started about 6 or 7 years ago sucked. I hated them. They would fight amongst one another, then they would fight with the listeners. They were snarky and moody and complained a lot. I am not a morning person so, I need someone to make me laugh and the one I listen to does just that. But, if you don't want that kind of thing, I would invest in XM or an iPod which you can get a plug to plug into your car radio when you are in it so you can listen to the music you like to hear and never hear another DJ yammer on about stuff that doesn't interest you again!

I LOVE my Sirius.. unfortunately I can't listen to it at work. I can't stream music from the site either.. stupid company policies The immaturity of the FM radio DJ's irks the hell out of me. I guess some people find humor.. but not me. I am stuck in the office.. I need music. Good to see you thanks for responding

The only answer to this is to get satellite radio! Its the greatest thing ever invented! I would suggest Sirius not XM because they have alot more content and better channels...not to mention the one main reason I have it..for Howard Stern! :)

I have Sirus.. but I can't listen to it at work.. I can't stream it on my computer either. I have to listen to either CD's or the crappy reception that my radio gets for the other stations I can tolerate

I am sorry to hear this!! I can relate, seems like radio in North America just sucks overall. I have heard plenty of stories like this from others living in different areas of USA and Canada. I am in Toronto and there have been plenty of stations that was at one time good and then went completely sour! There is one good alternative station around the region but the reception sucks! Good thing you can listen to whatever you want over the net these days!

The radio stations act this stupid because they can. I guess they think that talk radio will bring in more listeners but does it? I don't think so. To tell the truth I haven't listened to my local radio stations in a few years. Why? I have musical choice on my cable box. It is like satellite radio but you use your cable box.

I can really relate to this hun. I used to have a choice of several good rock stations but gradually the programming changed and now I rely on the net for rock stations. Check out Plant Rock sometime

I just plug in my I-pod. I can't stay awake with someone monotone voice talking to me in the morning. I need something loud and pounding to keep me awake on my 40 min drive in the morning.

something like that happen here. It was a while back that it happen. I loved listening to alternative until they took it off the air. They mixed it with a old time rock which I wasn't into. So I started listening to country music. They must of had alot of people complain about it b/c they now have an alternative stations again but I'm not in the car enough now to listen to it. When I am in the car now I am listening to my kids.

Where I live we have 3 stations that seem to change their programming every few months. I can't stand it when I turn on the radio and the morning show I like is GONE!!!! I have other choices but I like stations that have funny morning shows not raunchy! there are tons of stations that seem to be just looking for shock value.

Hmm well I assume that other people have already suggested this .. But I suggets switching to satellite radio. I have Sirius in my car and I get a good variety of rock, alternative, metal, punk, and even a station devoted to grunge and 90's alternative rock. As well, I get Howard Stern which is quite hilarious to listen to I must say! Just a thought, good luck! :)
