I remember my first credit card. It was for a little local clothing store. I had every excuse for going shopping and using that card. I've had a bad day, I haven't had a bad day, I might have a bad day. Now if I'm depressed, I love to go shopping. Invariably it cheers me up. Do you shop to improve your mood?

I try to avoid chopping unless I really need or really want something I don't like crowds, and if I can say money I will. I don't mind going to the mall if it is for something I want or need, and I can go at a time when there are not a lot of people there, but I will avoid shopping if I can. It's also a great way to avoid buying things that I really don't need.

For me its a real ego booster to have something new and often improves my mood, even if its something from the dollar store.

Yes, shopping can improve my mood. Even if it is just grocery shopping! Or, picking up a few things at the dollar store. I love nothing more than clearance shopping. Getting a good bargain is the best!
During the times we were flat broke we would go window shopping. Not quite as much fun as actually buying stuff; but it worked pretty well. We would pick and choose the stuff we liked for when we actually had the money to shop.
I don't have to spend a bunch of money to feel better. The more I get with the least amount spent works a lot better for me!

I don't really mind where it is either. The dollar store is great, because that means even more new things.

Hi there, this is one of my ways to improve my mood when I feel down. Hanging around in the shopping mall and having window shopping could really lessen my depression and sadness. When looking at my favorite items could make me forget all those unhappy things. After spending some time with things which are attractive and fascinated could make me refreshed again anyway.

When I'm in a bad mood I shop, but the feeling only lasts for a little while. And then I would want to shop some more.

I got my first store credit card as a young married Mm. It was suggested to me so I could get a credit rating.
I enjoy some shopping, mainly when I get a bargain. These days, after a bit of a spree, I come home and feel guilty as I can't rationalise spending the money. Spare cash is in short supply these days. So, my answer has to be, no, it doesn't necessarily left my mood. Sad ain't it.

I think it does. I love going shopping and when I get some good deals it makes me feel so good. It is easier to go with just one of my kids. Both of them at one time kind of drives me crazy. My youngest one right now is easier to take b/c she cant' talk yet so no begging for everything in the store lol. I don't have to fight with her to put her in the car either she will just go with the flow. Its so much easier and happier for everyone lol. I think shopping is fun.

What a great discussion you've got here. It started four weeks ago and people are still responding!
I hate shopping. But yes, I have had days when my mood improves if I shop. I think it has something to do with being distracted by new things to look at and new people to talk to.

superficial but true, shopping does improve my mood.:) good thing I know how to control it. I only do it when I'm really depressed but I don't overdo it.

I guess my mood would never liven up if I had to rely on shopping because I have no credit cards and I have to pay cash and I do not have any cash.

hi kbourgerie. I don't generally like shopping, so I do it only when I have to. When I am in bad mood, I prefer reading a book or listen to a music or taking a walk to shopping. It was always weird for me to find shopping relaxing. There is often crowd in shops and shopping malls. I don't like it.
Just a moment ago I have bought a blanket at internet auction site. I think online shopping is something wonderful for people like me who don't like to waste time on going to a shop.
have a nice day, jazgottt.

if i'm on the bad mood i want to be alone, stay on my room and work on my computer. I don't want anybody to talk to me even seeing anybody on my surrounding. i'm not go on shopping because it will reflect to the items i bought. i prefer to listen hard music and making stuff on my computer.
