Im wondering how many mylotters are left handed and how many are right handed??Is there any left handed people in your family??Im right handed and so is most of my family apart from my dad, he is a leftie. My boyfriend is a leftie for most things due to him being born with a extra thumb on his right hand. He had cut off when he was 3 years old and didnt use his right hand much.
Which hand do you use?

Yeah we always joked that my dad was 'kak handed', luckily he would join in the joke too.
You never know your son could be ambidextrous!!!

I don't think I know anyone who is left handed. Both my kids are right handed. I think anyway. I know for sure my oldest is. We have been using a color for her school work and she has been using her right hand. Shes only 2 my youngest is 11 months and she seems like she uses her right hand more then her left.

Everyone in my family are right handed. My mother made it clear that I was going to learn how to be right handed. I guess it just easier because most products are made for right handed people.

My husband my son and I are all right handed but my 4 year old daughter is left handed. It is hard teaching her how to write and cut with scissors as it seems backwards to me! It is hard to sit by her at a table as you are always bumpind arms with her!

I am a right hand as so many of my family members as well. My youngest brother however is a left handed. I remember teaching him how to write and how he kept switching is hands. I wasn't really sure what he was going to end up writing with, but which of course he's now a left handed person. Also my husband is left handed. I think I'm happy to be a right handed person, because my husband tells me when he writes with certain pens it spears because of this hand crossing over it after he finish writing. I would hate to have pen ink all over my hand because of that. I've tried writing with my left hand it isn't so pretty. Have you tried it?

Thats the only thing with writing with you left hand - smearing the ink with your hand!!

I believe everyone in my family is right-handed. This type of things used to be more of an attention-getter because I don't even pay attention to that. I know that my ex-mother-in-law was ambidextrous, but both my kids are right-handed. Although, I might try to have my daughter write with her left hand. What she produces with a pen using her right hand is a real strain at being called writing. Maybe that will be her problem all along...

my youngest brother was the only lefty in our family. but when i was in pre-school i was also a lefty due to some accident. i accidentally pour some hot water on my right hand and that's the time i started to learn on how to write using my left hand. but when i was in grade one or 2. i think i was 7 or 8 at that time, i tried to help myself in learning on how to write on my right hand again and it works. oh yeah and right now i'm a righty lol

Its amazing how people are able to learn to use the other hand when needed!! I have known a few people who broke their arm and had to 'attempt' to use the other arm in order to so their school work!! I would love to be able to write neatly with my left hand as I find it comfy holding
a pen in that hand but cant write unless its a scrawl!!
Thanks for posting x

I'm right handed, and most people I know are right handed. My Dad was left handed but was forced to use his right hand as was the case back in the old days.
I was always fascinated by lefties, and some cultures believe left handed people possess more intelligence and a wider variety of abilities due to the way their brain works. Who knows how true this is?
I know only about 10% of the population are left handed and men are more likely to be lefties compared to women. It would make an interesting read if we got all famous lefties names on a list. Perhaps we will discover what their traits are likely to be?
I am sure I read somewhere that there is a gene that often is associated with left handedness which can raise the potential for psychotic illness.

I am ambidextrous. My son is right handed but my daughter is also ambidextrous. It's weird, I can eat, cut, light matches with my right hand but I only write and throw with my left. Your boyfriend was born with an extra thumb on his right hand huh? He may still have unpleasant sensations on that hand even though he had the thumb removed at such a young age so that would explain why he uses his left. I have tried writing with my right hand before and it looks like chicken scratch! If I end up not being able to use my left hand for some reason, my writing would be even worse than it is now! lol

After having his 'extra' thumb cut off he neglected his right hand, doctors had to make him do exercises with it to ensure blood was circulated properly!! He uses it well now but favours his left!!

I am right-handed and love it. I have tried using my left hand but it feels awkward. To think that some people were punished in the past for using their left hand, just because it did not conform to what the majority were doing. How sad, not to be able to be an individual through the desire of others to control us. I am certainly pleased to be in a democracy. :o)

To think how much the schools would spend trying to get those 'leftie's' to use their right hands and have failed!!I would hate it if someone forced me to use my left hand!!

When I was youger I would try and write using my left hand but it was too much of a scrawl, I find it comfiorting holding a pen in left hand!! Not sure why!!??
