What strategy would you use if you were a contestant on Deal or No Deal?

I love watching Deal or No Deal, I usually watch it everyday. I like to see people win money, good on them. The other day, this lady picked the case number 3. Then her strategy was to start at case number 26 and work her way backwards. Then the next case was 25, 24,.... I liked her strategy, I have never seen anyone do that before on the show. However this strategy did not work for her. Can you believe that the $200 000, $100 000 and the car were right beside each other in a consecutive row. What are the odds of that happening. She ended up playing till the end, she had lots of determination and she won $5000, not bad for 1/2 hours work.
My strategy would probably be picking birthdays and special days as my cases. Hoping that would bring me luck. The case that I would choose would be the number 9 as I was born on the 9th of the 9th month 1978. SO 9 is a lucky number for me.
So what would your strategy be? Which case would you choose?

Did you know that you can play Deal or No Deal online? It's great practice!! And fun too. I'm not sure there is a strategy to the game. The briefcases are shuffled each round and it is just a matter of picking a "good" case. The way I think of it is picking lucky numbers should have high amounts of money in them!

Yes I think I have played it once online, when a friend of mine told me about it. If they gave away real money on there, I would be playing everyday, lol. Your strategy is a good one I would also try that way too. Or sometimes I think should you leave the lucky numbers till last as they will have higher amts in them as they are lucky. Hard to decide which way to go.

it's very nervous i think if you were the contestant of that show. we have different version of Deal or No Deal here but similar in nature. Some would prepare to pick brief case according to important date in their lives. That could be nice but it is a game of chance so we can't be sure, if you lucky enough so you will your price.

You are right it is about chance and luck, but I would still like to do a strategy. I guess I am a little risk taker, I think you need to take some risks in life to get ahead.

I don't have cable so I can only watch the show when I go back home to my parents house to visit. They love Deal or No Deal too.
I don't know if I would use a strategy. I would probably pick birthdays but after that I have no idea.
I know I would probably quit early and not get too greedy.
My husband on the other hand would play until the end even if he left with a dollar!
He laughs at me because the show stresses me out! lol

hi moneyand gc, I would not know what to pick after birthdays either. Unfortunately I would be more like your husband, the greedy one, but I would still have a bit of a strategy. I would always want 2 amts higher then what my balance was, if I had that I would keep going.

I love the show Deal or No deal, and I love Howies humor on the show, because it always helps to lighten the mood, If I were on Deal or No Deal today I think I would pick the number 23 because its my age and I would hope it would be lucky, then I would start my picking numbers of nascar drivers starting with the ones I dont like, like Jeff Gordon number 24 and Dale Jr's old number 8,and then I would work my way to the drivers I like, like Ward Burtons old number 22 and and Matt Kenseths Number 17, and so on,and then I would pick lucky numbers like 13 and 7,and then from there im not really sure,But part of my strategy would be if the four big numbers got knocked out,I would seriously start considering the deal, because I know some people tend to get greedy, and I would make sure I didnt get greedy.Even though it would be my 15 minutes of fame and I might just go for it until the end, after all, because I can almost guarantee no matter what I would win I would still walk out of there with more than I walked in with,so either way I would win, plus Id love to be able to try and make that jerk of a banker sweat lol

I would choose case one cause I was borne on a 1 day.
I have a perfect strategy not to win but to make the most.
But i'd like to try it in fake games.
It's all about calculating your odds and bailing right when they are at the highest price known for sure. No go to the end for me.
