I had my younger years with my parents until I graduated in elementary. My parents are the sort of mentor type with all those good learnings to teach me in life. When I get to high school, my sister took me to the city to get a better school for high school. My parents live on the farm side of the city, a little bit far from the heart of the city by the way. Anyway, from then my sister became my direct mentor though I still go home but once in a week. But to think I spend more time with my sister, she taught me more along those high school years. I learned the basic to-do in life in times of being independent. Good thing about my sister is that she won't tell you what to do until the end. She would tell you about this and that and it's up to me if I'll take it as part of my experiences or what. She's not the nosy sister as well, she won't question you all the time. Until college I still spend time with her, I still live with her. I continue learning the bad and the good things in life in this world. I like the way how my sister brought me up in the city. I know my limits on my own understanding at the veru beginning. I know how to respect without anybody lecturing me. I learned how to take responsibilities on my own way of carrying it through. My parents on the other hand still has part on my growing up years in the city. Whenever I go home, I still have my usual courtesy to them, my respect of talking to them and all that. Although I witness some of the bad things that can happen in life from the city but I don't bring it up in front of my parents. The respect is still there. Whenever I go home they still lecture me about life and God and family. They're the sort of conservative mentor. My sister is like the modern mentor.

hi her31558, you know that saying 'it takes a village to raise a kid,' well in my case its just like that. in my country, to promote family ties even more our family would live together. parents, kids, grandparents. its what is usually being practiced, but there are some that live apart. i would say that grandparents and my 'nanay' has influenced me during my younger years, because we were always together around the house and etc. since both my parents are working. not that they didnt have time for us kids but, its just that they [my grandparents] were more accessible 'time wise'. and my parents influenced me during my teen years. how they work, how they handle other people. and aisde from immediate family there are aunts and uncles who comes over spend quality time with our family and etc. and im the type who usually observes people so i get to pick up on things that interest me. so i would have to say that different people influence me on different things.

I have always felt that we are all teachers and we are all students as well. I believe that each person we meet has something that we can learn and something that we can teach.

bf's can be quite the influence in our lives, sometimes they know just the right things to say at the right times. You each learn from the other and grow together.

The most influential person in my life was my father. He molded all my principles and values in life. These are the same principles that I live on till this day and teach to my very own children.

I think as a teen, many think that they know better than their parents, but when you get a little older and start telling your kids the same things they told you, you realize that maybe they weren't so wrong after all.

Both my mother and father influcenced me. But i think the character of my father, who brought up me most influenced me. His speach, the ability to take resposibilites attracted me and still i'm trying to follow his qualities..
