"...A Westmoreland City boy remains in critical condition at Children's Hospital where he was taken this morning after he was struck by an ambulance on his way to school. North Huntingdon Police said that Cory Anthony, 7, was walking with his mother along Route 993 near the Westmoreland City Fire Hall on Third Street when, witnesses said, he darted in front of a passing ambulance, driven by an employee of the Jeannette Ambulance Service. Police have not identified the ambulance driver, but said the patient on board was part of a routine patient transfer. No one else was injured in the 8:30 a.m. incident."

OMG is the boy alright? Why didn't the mother have a hold of his hand! I just don't understand people who let their kids run around near dangerous streets. I NEVER did that! My daughter always had to stay near me and if she tried to run off, her butt was RED! I wanted her to understand the street is dangerous and you can't play in a dangerous area like that. She soon remembered and then we had no problem. Prayers for the little boy and his family

That is so sad and I hope for his family and loved ones that he makes it through. I have been hit three different times as a child, luckily never serious. My sister was hit by a van 6 years ago and suffered brain damage. It has totally changed her live. It is weird though that it was an ambulance. I have an almost 7 year old son and know how quick they still can run off. Sad accident.
